Fuck, so sad. Remember following his journey on finally being able to live with his family in the States and then not too long after he got diagnosed with Cancer, was absolutely brutal, but he went on and kept fighting.
Loved his WTF and Mailbox series and listened to the co-op podcast fairly regularly, he'll be missed.

I understand his family is experiencing pain and people want to be respectful of that, but how about we also respect the victims of the systematic harassment campaign he was a supporter of. Just because someone passes away doesn't erase half their history. You have to consider their entire life.

It must hurt you so deeply to see people grieving. You have my deepest sympathies, I hope you Rest In Peace

Jesus Christ man, I don't know how to even begin....

I didn't watch a ton of videos of him but last year I definitely saw a few. I had no idea about this. Horrible. Rest in peace!

I remember in a previous thread he had exhausted all options and all that was left was either a miracle or be at home and prepare. Man, cancer claims another victim. RIP, man. You will be missed.

Oh my god

I knew his cancer was back and the treatments were no longer working, but I didn't expect him to pass away so soon. This is..a huge shock right now.

Rest In Peace John

Yeah that's about where he was at when he last spoke, that I can recall, about how things were going. You see it coming ofc but when you see the headline you can never prepare for how it just hits you hard.

Fuck cancer, rip

I may not have been the biggest total buscuit fan, but nobody deserves to have their life taken so young. Hopefully his family get the support they need to pay for whatever medical bills and funerals costs they have.

I'm not trying to derail but... What campaign are you talking about?
He was with the gamer gate shit if i'm not mistaken and harassed people on twitter and sent his fans to harass people. And given how gamer gate is radicalized, I would imagine that's also what the poster is referencing.

Did not know him personally or through his content but my best wishes go out to everyone who did and most importantly to his family. May he rest in peace.

Just really surprised. I knew he had cancer but I haven't payed attention in awhile so it's kinda out of nowhere for me

Randomly saw his twitter and it feels really weird to see social media accounts after people die :x

rip
Yeah, I'm sure it came out of nowhere for many that weren't closely following him. I even knew that treatment wasn't working anymore, but I doubt many expected it to go this fast.

You don't have to do it today.
"It's too early to discuss gun control"
"It's too early to discuss toxicity in the gaming community"

Cancer being as awful as it is does not preclude a discussion of Totalbiscuit's actions (anti-Romani rhetoric, transphobia, harassing several people, including one time where he told someone to get cancer and die, etc.) nor does it make it inappropriate for one to reflect on their legacy, what the results of their actions cause. See also: Cancer taking Rob Ford doesn't erase the damage he dealt to Toronto, Ontario and Canada in general nor does it make those that point out the consequences inappropriate for doing so.

Condolence to his family, in any case.

To reiterate: Cancer sucks.

Community-tagged user steps up to the plate doubling-down on the "Actually IT IS the time!" and "he was no saint!" language after already witnessing a ban. New tag soon to come?

Honestly I'm still unpacking how you're equating school shootings to an individual's cancer death.

I do like how you tried to "save it" at the end with the "oh yeah cancer sux btw lol" platitudes.

RIP. I'm gonna miss listening to his critics. Loved his outlook on the PC gaming space. He was one of the few who talked about game performance and he was also a big fan of fighting games. I listed to his new videos everyday after work. Gone at 33. He had such a huge career ahead of him. So much potential snuffed out by such a despised disease. I wish his wife the best and hope that she finds the strength to push forward.

if you want to make yourself sad here's the community manager of Warframe learning the news just before starting tonight's stream.

TB was a major launching point for Warframe and it probably wouldn't be the same game without him putting so many eyes on it early on. RIP.

That's really heartbreaking. Without ignoring his shortcoming of which he hand many from the GG support to denying minorities have it harder in life it's easy to see that he did a lot of good when it came to promoting smaller/indie games and supporting streamers. I haven't followed him for years so I'm surprised the news hit me like it did; thanks for showing me Frozen Synapse TB.

Comparing Total Biscuit with Rob Ford is a real douche move there. Stay classy.

This is absolute garbage.
This is a thread about a man's death. Trying to come in here and shit on him is not helpful to anyone. Trying to compare people barging in and attempting to derail the mourning with "he was no saint" type posts to people wanting to talk about gun control is not only insensitive, it is downright stupid.
Disappointing to hear you defend it.

On topic:
I tried distracting myself a bit by watching streams. TB is the main topic for so many people. I've seen streamers cry before, but never this many. TB didn't get the long life I believe he deserved, but the short time he had, he used well.
I don't really believe in an afterlife, and I'm not sure if TB did, but if there is anything like a heaven, I'm certain TB would end up there.

Sad to hear and condolences to his family. My primary memories of him were from his WoW Radio days and the shows/podcasts that grew out of that. Definitely a pioneering figure in games commentary. Wish all of his subsequent output was as constructive. RIP.

Sad shit. I haven't lost anyone yet, so it's hard to imagine how Genna is feeling. Hopefully it is comforting to her that he personally affected many people who are mourning tonight too.

You should go up to his wife and say this, wonder what kind of reaction you will get. Imagine if you had done something wrong in your life, and a few hours after you pass someone goes up to your loved ones and says, "Yeah, but wasn't he an asshole?". Doesn't sound as easy, right?

you are seriously comparing a guy that at worst, and for a brief period of time, supported a movement that he was clearly uninformed about, to guns?
the way that the internet demonizes people who did wrong, and showed time and time again that they changed after it, and are genuinely sorry pisses me off.
as others have said, have some decency.

My heart just dropped. I can't imagine what his family is going through. Totalbiscuit was one of the few people I actually enjoyed content on youtube from. And his casting of Starcraft was my favorite. He did a tournament a few years ago, and put up the VoDs on youtube. I was on vacation with family but still streamed them to the TV to watch them. I have no idea if anyone from his camp will ever see this but if they do may he rest in peace.
