If you can consistently bang out 1:24's then you'll do well.
Top 10 times in the recent Gr2 daily there were 1:23's but that's right on the edge of track limits.
Thanks, the daily were on hard tyres too so that's mighty impressive. How many of you guys were racing tonight?
Only 5 of us :-( Shame because the car/track combinations were really fun...
And those were the ones that didn't make the cut. Bodes well for the season. Shame about the numbers though. GHG will you be able to let us know whose made the cut for this season and the reserves soon? Did Ruttyboy sign up in the end?

Everyone who has signed up and selected anything other than the "sometimes" and "reserve driver" options has a place.
As things stand there are still a couple of slots available if anyone who is yet to sign up does so and selects one of the top two participation options.

I'll be there, tho I have busted my knee and shoulder chasing my 3 year old through a taverna and falling over much to everyone's amusement!
Sad to see the 3 season 2 regulars on the subs bench (and Gvon and Roy not taking part at all) but good to see so many familiar names in there. I think this season is gonna be incredibly close, cant wait to get started :-)

I haven't switched this on since around launch and planning on jumping back in so seeing this community makes me happy! Before I download 65gb (!), I just wanted to know if there's a dedicated time trial mode in this game?

Finally got time to do some time trial laps, I have no idea how y'all are putting in 1:24s on Yamagiwa. Closest I could get is a 1:26.1 in the Lexus, BoP on and RSS. Was about .300 slower in the NSX.
edit: of course after just posting that I did a 1:24.9, but not sure if it was the time of day change or balance tweak I did...

As you probably saw from the PSN chat last night, JamboGT, Fifanutz and I had a practice sesh last night and our personal quickest laps were 1:22.0, 1:23.0 and 1:22.5 respectively. Being in the competitive environment improved my quickest lap by 6 tenths tho so you'll probably improve that time tonight too. Personally I found staying in a higher gear than normal helped my time, for example the last corner I'd expect to take in 2nd in a GR3 but it was quicker in 3rd in the GR2 Lexus so try that.
Racing wise it's bloody tough to overtake on Yamigawa as there's a lot of high speed corners and the slow ones are quite easy to defend on, tphe reverse grid is certainly gonna be interesting!
Oh and the tyres should be RS and not RSS bud.
Oh I'm glad someone else found it difficult to overtake, I wasn't sure if it was my lack of experience, the high speeds or what but I found overtaking to be a matter of waiting for a mistake.
Not only waiting for a mistake but having to slow down to avoid people on corners too, ie, I'm carrying 5mph more than them but there's only room for one car in this corner, so you back off and end up losing 5 tenths and have to build it all back up again.
Well it could be worse, like Monaco!
Often it can be like you say, just a case of pressuring the guy ahead into making a mistake. It's a case of making sure you keep the pressure on and don't make any silly mistakes yourself. Try to see where they are quicker and where they're slower than you. If you can force them into holding the inside to defend against a dive then you can concentrate on getting a better exit from the corner and get past on the following straight.
The NSX Jambo was using seemed slightly lower geared so was quick off the line but I'd start to catch him the longer we were on full throttle so the top of the hill after the S bends was where I had a go at him a couple of times. If you can keep tight onto them through the esses then there's a chance of sneaking up the inside going into the fast left hander. I put a pass on Fifanutz on the brakes going into the chicane but it's a quick chicane and the risk of it all going horribly wrong there is high. Other than that the tight left hander after the chicane is a favourite spot for a dive up the inside but it's easy to see the move coming and take a defensive line, and there's not a lot of space after the bend to benefit from a better exit.
Shit, guys I'm 50/50 for the race tonight, been invited to a bbq last minute, if a reserve wants to drive tonight then they can have my spot.
