Man.

"Huh. This show about Russian spies seems like it could be good."

That was five years ago. Doesn't feel that long ago and it does at the same time. ;_;

everyone who watches it for the most part considers it the best show on tv but it was always sad that so few watched it. Props to FX for keeping it around. Don't want it to end :(

It feels right, ending it where we are now though. Things can only unravel for so long. Paige's arc in particular has been really well crafted, and of course it's something so basic as sex that turns her against Elizabeth. Watching tonight really made me want to go back and binge the whole show again though.

Alright, with one episode left, let's place bets. Does Henry appear in the finale? And does he even get to learn the truth?

Eh, I'm not sure about Paige's sudden revelation. She somehow missed all the bodies Elizabeth has been stacking up this season, but then some random drunk dude talks about a woman he slept with and suddenly she's able to connect the dots?

Finally, the episode I've been waiting for TWO seasons!!! Some great payoff for 18 extremely slow episodes, worth it!!!

Its a bummer there is only one episode left, I would have loved a 3-4 episode "all hell has broken loose" ending but I guess we'll have to make do with a single episode finale.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS.

We say this all the time, but this was EASILY the most tense episode of the entire series. Every goddamn conversation damn near gave me a fucking stroke. And then Philip sprinting. OH MY GOD, he's SPRINTING.

tumblr_opjfckd9dp1s2tcauo1_500.png

Philip looking guilty as hell! It's over! Game over man! Elizabeth's even packing her shit, holy fuck. And they have no one to turn to, no garages to hide in. Damn...

Who would've thought that it was actually for the best that they held off as long as they did in regards to everything finally, truly unraveling, because my lord, this show is not at all good for my heart. I genuinely mean that.

And the earlier conversation between Claudia and Elizabeth, goddamn, that was some mighty fine acting. Never fucking sleep on Esteemed Character Actress Margo Martindale, I'll tell ya that much.

And then the convo between Elizabeth and Paige, damn that was awkward af. Though at the same time it was hilariously cute of Paige to think that only her mother sleeps around for the job. If the idea of having sex for work is that off-putting for her, she truly was never meant for this life. Then again, literally all of us knew that.

And Oleg, omg, poor Oleg. I don't even have anything to say other than actually, just poor Oleg. Over and over again.

Curse you Stan, curse you! You're doing your job, Elizabeth and Philip are monstrous Russian spies, but curse you! :( (Also shout-out to Pastor Tim for surprisingly keeping quiet on the subject)

Needless to say, definitely not bothering with a promo or anything. Next week, we'll see if the show will finally end my life.

You did good Pastor Tim. Phil and Liz did the right thing by keeping you alive.

I don't think Paige has any idea how many people her parents have killed.

I think her induction into this craft has been sheltered and very much controlled, with her mom feeding her a steady diet of bullshit.

Finding out about that poor kid was an unfiltered look at who her mom is and what the job actually entails.

Stan kills Elizabeth and Phillip, lets Paige slink away into the shadows, and adopts Henry.

They move across country with Mailbot.

So....I haven't watched any of the final season. Holy shit, I'm a bad fan. I plan on rectifying this by getting caught up on the weekend

I shouted "You damn bastards!" when the episode ended. I want to watch the finale right now.

Anyone else think for just a second that was Renee in the blonde wig not Tatiana LOL?

Firecracker episode, that. I gasped when Philip started running, as well as when Paige called Elizabeth a whore. I am a bit annoyed Paige's grand revelation happened off screen though. That was definitely something we needed to see for ourselves.

Can't believe the final episode is next week! :O

They wound the clock back 1 and a half decades to make Keri Russell look like her Felicity character in the flashbacks. Just another amazing detail in an amazing episode.

at this point I really didn't need another damn flashback motif running through the episode. they could have ran that anytime in the season.

Paige continues to be crap. I don't know whether it's more the acting or the writing for her, but it's never convincing. I guess it's a lottery with teen/child actors.

it's a been a weird show. parts sheer awesome, parts mind numbingly dull, parts baffling. Never predictable though.

knowing this show, Phillip's kid that they've seemingly forgotten about might be the only that gets resolved lol.

Pastor Tim ain't no snitch. And I can't remember the last time a show or movie has made me as tense as that chase scene with Phillip. Excellent closing shot with the viewer looking from the outside in as the lights go off in the Jenning's house.

Please let the final episode be like 2 hours long.

I did. I thought she was suspiciously absent during the episode leading up to that and I was like "oh shit" when I saw the blonde, lol!

I didn't really get the last flashback with Elizabeth where she talked about ignoring the horse and police officer. She was reprimanded for sticking to her training? And how did that relate to the present day events?

"Never leave behind a comrade"
Someone who was loyal to the country needed to be saved, so Elizabeth saved them. She learned her lesson from when she let the police officer die

At this point Renee being a secret agent would be both obvious and goofy. I really hope they don't go that route and have her come out of nowhere and save the Jennings from Stan or something equally contrived.

Does anyone have favorite scenes from the series they'd like to post?

EDIT: Welp, these are all suitably violent and disturbing.

I haven't watched last night's ep yet (had stupid plans), but I CANNOT wait to get home today to do so. This season has been incredible.

I have so many, but the one that always sticks out is Paige finally demanding what is going on and them explaining, painfully, slowly, who they actually are. Pretty obvious but it's a moment that had so much built up towards it, and it was so smartly handled.

Edit: haha, it's the very first scene they show in that video. Oops.

Edit 2: GOD, Dylan Baker's character in that one scene, too. Always think about that.

Slate podcast for this week:
First, she talks with showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields about how a hunter becomes a protector, Elizabeth's flashbacks, and Claudia's disappointment with the illegals. Then we hear from actor Costa Ronin, who plays Oleg Burov, about his response to his character's fate. Spycraft expert H. Keith Melton explains the ins and outs of cyanide guns, and director Chris Long talks us through that spectacular scene involving young Elizabeth, a horse, and a motorcycle. And finally, Brandon J. Dirden talks about playing Special Agent Dennis Aderholt for four seasons.

I don't understand why they sent Tatiana. Isn't she a known embassy employee? So if the op turns south (she's captured or killed), the FBI would have irrefutable proof that the Russians are running assassinations on US soil. Plus the Russian government would know that elements from within the embassy are against the state.
