I'm a fan of kanye west music since I was 12 from when he was producing the rocafella roster. r kelly is out there raping women and basically kidnapping them, chris brown is beating them, and I'm supposed to be ashamed to listen to kanye west music because he wanted to wear a maga hat bc its edgy to him? oh please.
also, the beats are fire. i wasn't expecting more "lunch money" off the wall beats but these are fire. i listened to guess whos back (Scarface, jay z, beanie, produced by kanye) today like 15 times bc its a favorite from my childhood and im hype.

I think it's fine to enjoy the music, but the way people ride celebrity egos sometimes bothers me. Even if he puts out something that sounds nice, people have to act like he's some kind of god. I think I just hate celebrity culture in general. If the new album turns out good, people will forget and won't hold him responsible. There's a sentiment that you can get away with anything as long as you are churning out the good stuff.

you sound like you're giving him a large platform and celebrity in your mind and then judging him more because of that. i hate celebrity culture too but you should to know people aren't just celebrities. kanye is an artist/musician who's been creating music for the last 20 years. people are just acting like they really like music which an artist that may make some of their favorite music creates. it's culture and art. there's not something wrong with that. if people want to idolize him because he creates their favorite music, let them. that's not celebrity culture. that's having a favorite artist. kanye does stupid shit i don't agree with.
Like I said, I think it's fine to enjoy the music, but at some point you have to consider that you are supporting someone who is expressing and spreading hateful views. It just seems shortsighted for people to stop their judgement at his music and willfully ignore the path he's headed on. At some point you have to stop and ask yourself, "Is this the kind of person I want to give a boost to?"

I honestly think what you just said is incredibly shortsighted. he's got the pushback and feedback from everyone already. i just want to hear the music I love. i don't shut doors to conversations and other viewpoints even though I also consider them to lead towards hateful speech, but i express that to them directly.
