There's no lootboxes but they're probably still gonna sell either cosmetics, or the digital currency to buy cosmetics with.

Looks pretty dope though I wish they dropped raw gameplay footage (like full on matches) like COD. Seemed kinda underwhelming of a reveal because they did a ton of talking and then dropped a trailer.

Weird flow to the presentation for sure... felt like a Twitch dev stream.

Looking forward to the game though.

I guess i kinda get where people are coming from when they complain about women fighting in this, because im thinking they want that Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan vibe to be applied here.

But honestly i think its really cool to have this sort of diversification in popular multiplayer games, it opens up more the female audience.

And we have plenty of typical WW2 games already.

I get where you're coming from but popular multiplayer games already have women though, World of Warcraft, PLAYERUNKNOWN Battlegrounds, Overwatch, Dota 2, etc. They even have minority females in them.

This game sounds like a chore to play. Seems like they just want to take more and more agency and control away from the player.
Can't wait to get knocked over by explosions, spend my time running around begging medics for health, and interacting with the environment for every little thing. I guess shooters aren't about shooting anymore.

This game sounds fantastic but I'm still most likely going to wait to pick it up. This fall/winter is already looking packed as hell. :(

This is BATTLEFIELD. It has NEVER been just a "shooter". More of a chaos simulator.

On paper it sounds like that, but in the trailer the player was jumping and sliding around and doing all sorts of silly stuff.

They only seem to be railroading you towards sticking togther with your squad.

Chaos and player control are not at all mutually exclusive.
Black Ops 4 made control of the player and gun a core tenet of their game design, whereas BFV is introducing brand new ways to remove control.
Doom felt good because the game gives players agency.
COD WW2 felt bad at launch because every little explosion made your screen shake uncontrollably and reduced your movement speed.

All of these new systems announced for BFV don't really improve the core BF experience. They're just annoyances and barriers in your way.
The fun part of BF is having agency to do crazy shit and shoot things, NOT scavenging bodies for ammunition, NOT following a medic around and asking for health.

It would be amazing if they got rid of bulllet spread. One of the worst gameplay mechanics ever created. Its completely nonsensical and only there to artificially narrow the skill gap for scrubs. By the same token suppression should have no effect on a guns firing mechanics

It's not like medics dropped health in old games either. So nothing new.

Since I usually play with friends I like most of the changes. But I do think the health system could get annoying in this type of game

You'll just need to do that with your squad now
Right, which is why I'm saying it removes player agency.
Just bad, bad design.

DICE has a history of inflicting player pain to satisfy their own artistic intent, fun be damned.
I just reinstalled BF4 a few days ago and completely forgot how asinine their insistence in cramming every map with lens flares was.

So... a hint of realism is bad? I think it's going to change the dynamics of the game and make people play more strategic and with team work.
It's not realistic, and midcore AAA shooters are always going to have players who want to do their own thing.
The result of this change isn't that more players will play strategically, it will be that the players who care about playing strategically will be forced to play the support roles, while the people who just wanted to frag won't change their behavior at all. It's the healer conundrum from MMOs all over again. Everyone wants to DPS, no one wants to heal or tank.

Since I usually play with friends I like most of the changes. But I do think the health system could get annoying in this type of game
If you already play with friends, this change will not affect you at all. It mostly affects players who want to do their own thing or just play casually.

Yea, I'm really glad CoD and Battlefield are adding more strategic gameplay to their games.
I'm a huge fan of BO4's strategic changes, actually.
BO4 makes teamplay more important without removing agency from the player.
No class is hugely dependent on another class to function, and each class operates well independently.
This respects the will of individual players first and foremost, then allows for the teamplay aspects to enhance that. Major, major difference in design philosophy.

So the trailer was actually representative of what gameplay will look like? With all the crazy animation?

Sign me up if true.

Game's looking pretty good so far

I'm gonna miss revive trains though, feels good reviving 4+ teammates at once in the previous games

I hope that explosion knockback thingy isn't overdone, would be annoying to get knocked back over and over when contesting a capture point

This all sounds pretty good to me in theory. They're going to have to really nail the balance of how long it takes to respawn to get people to wait around to be dragged to safety then go through a revive animation. I can see there being a big backlash against all these more deliberate things from the portion of the player base that started playing around BF3.

After they trainwreck of 1s mechanics and balance these changes seem really great. The game definitely sounds to be a little more methodical. Some probably won't like that but it sounds like what the series needs.

Well since i'm been dicked around with as a fan of BF before BF3 and BF4. It's now their turn.

Designers can disagree on what makes good design. It's an art, not a science.
I know that much, but stating it as a given is a stretch.

If you already play with friends, this change will not affect you at all. It mostly affects players who want to do their own thing or just play casually.

It's supposed to be a team-focused game. There are multiplayer battles of up to 60 players, supporting lone-wolf gameplay just results in the shit-show that was Battlefields 1 sniper spam.

Overwatch mamages to have a game were only a quarter of the classes are DPS focused, and players naturally gravitate towards worling together because there's benefits for it.

The players that like to "frag" will do whatever benefits them the most. So the question becomes of how much benefit does the player receive from working as a team and does it make a difference?

You make a good point about it being artificially forcing players by removing agency, but then games as a concept are all about artificial limitations.

You hit the hammer on the head. These changes only hinder the players and what they can do all for the concept of teamwork. At the end of the day, we play games for entertainment. Running around with 25% health looking for a competent medic to drop a med pack is straight up ridiculous

There's other ways to get med packs and health. You clearly didn't listen to the video or read the content post proper.

Looking at the weapon segment, are we expecting it to be BF1-style that has presents but now those presets mean more, or is it more in line with BF4 where you start with a gun and slowly unlock all the attachments for said weapon?
