Zzz one dimensional grapplers are the worst

Lol I love Maia's strategy of "run away the whole fight, go for shitty takedowns or try to pull guard in desperation". Fuck this guy. Just go to BJJ competitions ffs.

Usman is shit too.

Usman is just slowly annihilating him. Still don't think he'll get the finish though.

Usman will probably wreck Covington but get pieced up by RDA and Tyron. His striking isn't that great and he's timid.

Meh performance by Usman, stage was set for his coming out too. Needs to show more in his next fight, a good striker with solid takedown defense would be nice.

Usman broke his hand. Same thing happened to Tyron with Maia, lol.

Maia has been fighting for 15+ years and still can't perform a takedown and his striking is still garbage. And all he does is run away for 5 rounds. Fuck off and go do BJJ. He's even worse than Fitch.

That's a bit unfair. Dude was crazy dominant with his takedowns after moving down to 170, other than the Rory fight (and I seem to remember the Shields fight being kinda BS), and that includes derailing the hype train on a fellow grappler like Gunnar Nelson. I think people just figured out how to constantly stuff the guy after the Woodley fight.

I agree that he needs to just stick to BJJ tournaments, though.

Werdum got caught with them vitamins:
http://m.uk.ufc.com/news/UFC-Statement-on-Fabricio-Werdum

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Fabricio Werdum of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on April 25, 2018.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Werdum. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

Josh Barnett level proof:

Steiner Math puts that at roughly 1.1 events for every calendar week and it spell disaster.

Wrestling Maia getting dominant finishes is exciting to watch, but there were flashes of it even at 185 (his finish of Sonnen). I don't think he's been figured out so much, he was never the most athletic of guys and is getting up there in age now, which when mixed with his style of wrestling makes stronger, better wrestlers a nightmare matchup.

Ugh. Was hoping UFC would see a reduced number of cards with reduced market interest. And now fights will be on ESPN — who just happens to have the shittiest, least reliable streaming app.

UFC had 39 events in 2017
ESPN deal is 42 events + Fight Pass cards if they continue

USADA was a terrible decision for the UFC. Hasn't made them less carney whatsoever and too many cases where fighters wasting away years of their fighting career because of errors and tainted supplements (don't care how foolish that reasoning might seem at times, when USADA confirms tainted supplements it means the system has failed the fighter)

What the fuck happened with Diaz? TMZ now reporting he was high on coke? While he committed assault?

I was rooting so badly for his comeback , this is awful.
