Holy shit.

D2 is still in really rough shape. Weapon system is still a bad design and poorly balanced around boss encounters (too many not viable weapon types). It's a shared world shooter with no matchmaking/LFG in the game. Light level is a garbage mechanic that artificially time gates activities for no real reason. Armor is meaningless. They did some nice questing though and touch up a few exotics.

I enjoy the collecting aspect (Data Fragments, Sleeper Nodes, etc). Dead Ghosts were fun to go for. I wish D2 brought Grimoire back, as right now there's nothing really to show "I've played this game a lot"
I enjoy the Exotic Catalyst drops (gives reason to farm X) - RNG is a bitch, and theres potential for bugs for the Strike drops, but I have been farming Heroic Adventures for Huckleberry when I never touched them at all.
I enjoy Escalation Protocol and the fact its difficult and the fact it requires you to work together. The grouping issue is a thing, but until something is in place, it is what it is.
I enjoy that Spire of Stars is good and actually difficult.
I enjoy that Ana Bray's questline isnt entirely "farm materials" like Brother Vance's guns

In a nutshell, I want more D1, and Warmind tilts the needle in that direction a lot. Sorry, D2 going casual didnt work out, time to go back.

I find it funny we call it a Shared World Shooter even though we're currently arguing about people claiming a patrol space for EP. Not much sharing. More like Kicking World Shooter.

I can see these things being strides but I guess I don't find them to be that large. I do understand that these things are taking things back to better days and in that sense it is bigger looking at the larger picture.

That's what I did, but now I look like an idiot carrying around two grenade launchers. There was this one Guardian in patrol just following me around and using the disagree emote on me. Now I've become the laughing stock of this game. They're all pointing and laughing at me.

And get this, I wake up today to do the flashpoint with my Hunter. Get an exotic engram from a heroic event. Noice. Go back to decrypt it and it's the Jade Rabbit. Gross, but I guess I might as well have it to complete the collection. Turn in my milestone for the flashpoint a few seconds later and I get JADE RABBIT AGAIN.

IS THERE SOME KIND OF SPECIAL THIS WEEK? BUY ONE GET ONE FREE? MY CAPSLOCK IS BROKEN.

The new end-game is 'try to find a patrol zone with an active public event that has more than just you in it'. The hardest of end-games. Everyone is off dying to wave 2 of EP. :( Just another reason why EP needed it's own zone I spose.

I think what it is is that the game is making good strides for what they are able to do to it currently. It sucks to say/think "wait till September!" but that is when real actual changes to things like weapons, armor, grinds, etc will happen. For the time being they are stuck (for lack of a better term) in the framework of D2 as it was built. The changes they made with WMD, and the coming summer updates are things that they are able to change/tweak currently, without complexity changing everything, which is what September will bring.

I think it's fair to say the game is making good changes in the right direction. Does more still need to be done? Of course! But to say that everything is just garbage and nothing is good and nothing they've done for WMD is hints that the right direction is being taken is a bit disingenuous. If people honestly feel that way that is fine of course, but maybe try and look at a larger picture than just saying "they haven't changed or fixed what I want them to yet so it sucks"

I'm gonna have to join in on the discord sometime if I ever want to experience raids. I never did that on D1.

This is a difficult question to answer. Obviously Mouse and keyboard is a huge difference, but the core gameplay (if you don't take framerate into account) is identical.

Let's just say this about framerate however, having started on PS4 and moving to PC, I can't go back to console.

As far as gameplay, it's exactly the same with a controller IMO. I tried using a controller and found it to feel exactly the same as on PS4, except with a much improved framerate. However, mouse and keyboard is the way to play on PC IMO. It feels so, so good.

It plays amazingly and is beautiful at the same.

I use both an Elite Xbox One controller and a M/KB setup at different times and the experience is great in both cases.

Increased/max FOV, improved visuals, and best of all 60+ FPS (I currently play at a locked 75 FPS w M/KB setup, 60 locked on the 4K TV with a controller).

I also play on Xbox One X which plays fine but man is this game a joy on PC.

HEP absolutely needs better matchmaking. It's a fantastic activity that's locked away from the majority of players.

So giddy to find out whatever this "never has been done in a FPS before" type thing is concerning Destiny's future. I guess we'll know more in about three weeks time.

Havent played in ages and am underleveled for the campaign. Kind of an odd position. I finished all the CoO campaign, but am sitting around 310 power and all the Warmind stuff is like 330+ now after the initial level. Not sure what to do to grind out levels just to play the campaign.

If I'm not mistaken, public events (heroics, maybe?) will drop gear that will help you progress to 330.

Weekly milestones will help, but if you're trying to maximize your PL gains, wait as long as you can before doing these.

It boggles my mind that they didn't put Escalation Protocol in a separate destination with matchmaking like Prison of Elders.

9 player HEP is a lot of fun!





Just make it easier to set it up.

PVP is definitely a lost cause. It's probably the worst MP this gen.

I guess I don't see the big strides for PVE in Warmind. Nothing really changed at all except leveling is now time-gated for people who don't raid which is a thing, I suppose. EP is really cool, but hamstrung by Bungie's crippling inability to actually think through their game's systems when designing content.

I'm struggling to see the big shifts. The most notable trend I see, time-gating to artificially stretch content, isn't especially positive. Polaris Lance quest benefits from being broken into weekly chunks because...?

The exotics weapons pass was a huge success though. Almost all the exotic weapons are unique and fun to use now. Hopefully, armor will follow the same track and move beyond the current crop of "increases sidearm ready speed."

I would recommend starting the Prophecy weapon quest line at Mercury as well before doing Strikes, Crucible and PEs as they offer mat drops and you can work towards two things while leveling.

They took over 6 months to change the vault inventory number from 200 to 300, there's no way they're going to make it easier to get into Escalation Protocol-the horse has left the stable and they can't just increase the limit of people in a public area.

Is it bad that I'm STILL salty about getting 3 370 lvl Mob Justice's and 2 Alone as a God's during a Levi run last night? Not a single friggen' armor piece, just stuff for 2 weapons types I never friggen use..... Such a waste of a weekly run attempt.

Oh I know, that is the worst. The same has been happening to me this week, except I'm getting armor, but it's chest and legs every time.

EoW can sometimes be better for armor, there is only 2 weapons you can get so more of a chance for armor, but less encounters so it's kinda a crap shoot, as always.

Thanks for the tips. This is one area of the game they could improve a bit. Its not clear exactly how to progress in the end game if you arent tuned into outside help.

People aren't locked out but because of the changes in Warmind , getting to level 300 is a long slow grind for anyone who just recently bought the game without any expansions. Unlike us they don't have any raids to do to up their LL. If their soft cap is 260, I assume their clan engrams are also capping at 260 and not 340 like ours. I think the reason there isn't a lot of outcry is simply that most players either have at least one expansion, or aren't interested in raiding, or bought the game before December and are already close to level 300 anyway. It does seem like an oversight on bungie's part how the new slow progression would affect a brand new player who has no expansions and wants to raid...
