It shows the weakness of the Wii U versus the Switch that the Switch can allow the potential market viability of these games to shine in a way a system with a weak appeal never possibly could

Its not an exaggeration to say the Switch is the greatest invention Nintendo has ever launched hardware wise outside of the original NES.

I did not expect anything, I'm just happy that exclusives selling well, that's it.

I know you are being facetious and joking but its worth noting 6 out of the top 10 are exclusives. That's insane given... certain asinine narratives going around. Clearly the American audience was anti-consumer in the month of April with their filthy exclusive preference.

Labo did rather well too....people wanted to call it a flop so bad without waiting for more data.

Edit:

Oh wow at Donkey Kong as well...Top 5 in such short time and without digital numbers.

Not just for Sony. For any exclusive ever on PS which includes all the big third parties exclusives Sony had back in the PS1 and PS2 days.

Last year everybody said that third parties would jump on switch as soon as it proved itself in hardware sales.

But western 3rd parties effectively abandoned the 3ds in 2014 even with strong sales. The 3ds chart is always Nintendo only.

28% YoY spendign growth on accessories is nuts. I'm assuming just like previous months this can be mostly attributed to Fortnite? Man it is crazy how much spending that single game is driving in the entire industry. Really points to a rather large blind spot for the current reporting system.

ZhugeEX Why is everything measured in 'dollar sales' now? Is units sold not a metric anymore or is it not relevant for sales reporting nowadays. Seems like it might make some stuff sound 'bigger' than it actually is, at least to me.

Anyway, awesome debut for God of War! Well deserved. Also MLB is surprising its doing so well IMO, though its the only real baseball game anyway and its also really solid each year. Great month for all nonetheless.

Last month there was some discussion about services like Gamepass increasing retail (physical and digital) sales.

I'm curious if SoT's drop says anything to the contrary - does it indicate retail sales were preferentially collected in its debut month, with subsequent consumption overwhelmingly falling in Gamepass subscriptions? Or, should nothing like this be read in to its performance?

Mat - do you see SoT's performance this month indicating anything? Thanks.

With Spider-man coming out, RDR2 marketing and if COD's BR turns out legit great. This is probably going to be one of the best years for the PS4 and the Playstation brand in general.

If Sony have proved one thing over the last few years it's that March/April is a great time to release a game, especially first party. Bodes well for Days Gone next year too.

Literally the best software sales in a decade. Wow. Man I am so glad that "consoles are dead" nonsense is provably behind us. Feels good.
