Sup ERA!
During my lunch breaks my friend and I want to get some gaming done.
Any recommendations? We might just play for a few minutes so under half an hour, and I don't have any extra controllers so they should work well with the joy-cons.
Good suggestions in the thread (Overcooked, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Putty Pals, Death Squared, etc).
Here are a few more that doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet:
*
Sumer is really fun strategy board game that isn't turn-based (all moves are done at the same time by all players). It's not coop though, but versus. Simple to learn, hard to master. The shortest game mode is around 10 minutes.
*
Tumblestone is a puzzle game in a similar style as Puyo Puyo Tetris, but it's more based on the puzzle aspect. It's also a versus game in multiplayer. VERY fun even between players of skill levels, with its use of skill settings and rubber banding. To unlock more puzzle abilities for the local multiplayer mode, you have to play single campaign. A first-to-5 multiplayer game will take around 5-10 minutes. It's frequently on sale on the eShop BTW.
*
PixelJunk Monster 2 (just released) has a co-op mode. It's a tower control game.
* There are a few shmups that have 2-player co-op, such as
Strikers 1945.
Ikagura (releasing tomorrow) will also have co-op. The good thing with these shmups are that they have Tate mode, so they look really great on the small screen.
*
FIFA 18 works very well on the small screen IMO.
*
Picross S has a co-op mode where you can solve the puzzles together.
*
Mario+Rabbids have both extra co-op and versus modes. Great fun. You need to play some single player to unlock it, though.
stardew valley got multi-player Co op pretty recently
Stardew Valley's co-op isn't local co-op. When that patch arrives, you need multiple machines.
