Just to warn: It is deliberately graphic.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/need-know-violent-animals-ms-13/

Following on from his recent remarks on the subject - see: here - the Trump Admin has decided to double down on the rhetoric, and in particular, the usage of 'animals', as they attempt to explain what MS-13 is.

Too many innocent Americans have fallen victim to the unthinkable violence of MS-13's animals.

At the State of the Union in January 2018, President Trump brought as his guests Elizabeth Alvarado, Robert Mickens, Evelyn Rodriguez, and Freddy Cuevas, the parents of Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas. Police believe these young girls were chased down and brutally murdered by MS-13 gang members on Long Island, New York, in 2016. Suffolk County Police Commissioner stated that the "murders show a level of brutality that is close to unmatched."

In Maryland, MS-13's animals are accused of stabbing a man more than 100 times and then decapitating him, dismembering him, and ripping his heart out of his body. Police believe MS-13 members in Maryland also savagely beat a 15-year-old human trafficking victim. The MS-13 animals used a bat and took turns beating her nearly 30 times in total.

In Houston, Texas, two MS-13 members were charged after kidnapping and sexually assaulting one girl and murdering another. The two MS-13 animals laughed, smiled, and waved for cameras in court as they faced the charges.

The article goes on from there. This is how you train someone to hear a dogwhistle.

Hell of a thing to have hosted on the White House website for the explicit purpose of covering for Trump's racism.

I don't even know what to say to this. The women and children at the border weren't Animals, or MS13..

Pathetic attempt at damage control.

Yeah, the usage of "animal" is a deliberate attempt to dehumanize immigrants by association. MS13 are murderers and criminals, it's fine to just call them what they actually are.

Insidious. They have (and Trump) already tried to tie MS-13 to brown immigrants so this is as loud as you can get.

"Where rats appear, they bring ruin by destroying mankind's goods and foodstuffs. In this way, they spread disease, plague, leprosy, typhoid fever, cholera, dysentery, and so on. They are cunning, cowardly and cruel and are found mostly in large packs. Among the animals, they represent the rudiment of an insidious, underground destruction – just like the Jews among human beings."

What a strange, horribly written article. But if I remember correctly, MS-13 is one of the most powerful and ruthless gangs in the world.

This is like some straight up 1920s "hide your women from the negro savages" type shit. History is not going to look back fondly on this administration or the pieces of trash that voted for and supported it.

It's a bullshit dogwhistle and fear mongering tactic they've been using to get racist white people scared of a threat they will likely never encounter in order to justify their blatantly bigoted immigration policies.

And here I thought brown on brown violence was a staple of the 80s govt policies. Are you telling me a gang that was created in the USA first and allowed to fester for 40 years has now grown to become the largest and most violent gang in the country? Made in America. Only the best.

Let's focus on immigration tho. Cause theyre brown.

This is the first time I have heard of the gang (I'm not from the U.S), and this is on the wiki page:

According to the United States Government, members of MS-13 are not human but are in fact "violent animals."

First time I have ever read such a thing.

Trump can't distinguish MS-13 gang members from perfectly law abiding undocumented immigrants.

That's why this is all bullshit.

Trump calls out the gang members as animals, but the majority of people being deported by Jeff Sessions & ICE are fine, decent, working, law-abiding immigrants. Hell, some undocumented US soldiers have been deported.

With the way they talk about MS-13 you'd think they were the Zeta Cartel or ISIS, when they didn't know what MS-13 was a week ago. I mean they are horrific but the way conservatives fall in line immediately is frightening.

Right? I hope descendents of the current Republican Party look back on these people with the disdain and shame they've earned. This is sick shit and anyone still supporting their party as vileness like this is allowed should expect to share in the sentiment of being reviled as inhuman

And most people haven't and will never run across them. They're not great people but I don't see why they're attracting so much attention from Trump other than the fact that he can use them to demonize an entire culture.

And this is also just the latest example of what happens when you have someone with a narcissism disorder and an inability to admit error in the highest office in the land. Most people gave up and moved on from his latest racist outburst but he still forced his staff to prepare this to prove that he didn't make a mistake. I feel sorry for those who are working there and not true believers in his garbage.

I don't have much beef referring to them as animals in a vacuum, but this is a pretty pathetic move.

Been reading about them and their crimes for over ten years in the local paper and the news. Easy to dismiss it when you don't have to hear about it. It's very comforting to know the park I drive past on the way to work everyday had chopped up bodies or little girls bodies are found just dropped with-in proximity of the school.

I will never shed a tear for anything that happens to MS-13.

The communities MS-13 terrorizes don't want them here either. (not white communities, El Salvadorian communities)

Because the context is immigration and the refugees that come to the US seeking asylum from gang violence in Central America. The GOP was literally fighting Obama on children, I mean fucking children! As being accepted as Refugee status.

No one is asking to treat them any less than violent sociopaths that they are. And, if you are Latino in the US, you do get reports via Univision and other Latino based news organizations.

To be fair, do many animals even really senselessly mutilate other animals? Certainly it looks rather gory when something is eating something else, but that serves a purpose in that they can't really consume in any other way. The only animals I can think of that would do similar acts are those animals we think of as cute but which are secretly violent behind our backs, like our kitties and maybe dolphins.

This kind of behavior seems more of an entirely human construct.

I dont doubt that, but they haven't been a national talking point...I assume they are a semi-regional threat, mostly to other gangs.

I truthfully hadn't either prior to Trump and I watch and read a ton of news.
They're spread all over the US. They've been here for more than 10yrs terrorizing communitities for fun or to send messages. The way they do their crimes it is extremely graphic. They are not the type of crowd you want in your community.

Animals, animals, animals and animals. This is really strange to read especially on a government website. It's not like you can't show how fucking horrific MS-13 are without delivng into facbook post territory.

spoiler alert: when Trump says "MS-13" he really means "latino and hispanic people, usually immigrants"

Nobody here is downplaying the atrocities of various MS13 cells across the country/globe. But it's foolish and dangerous to turn a blind eye when we know for a fact that the people using the "animal" rhetoric are using it as a dog whistle for hispanic people, law abiding or not. Especially when we know that all law enforcement has to do is claim you're MS13 in order to detain and deport you.

I will never downplay the danger MS-13 pose, but remember this story, and how dangerous this "animal" rhetoric is when ICE profiled a Dreamer and lied about him being a gang member:

They will use the words coming from the top to violate a person's rights.

No, they are not. Trump is one of the worst humans in history and I would not call him an animal.

And this is of fundamental importance if you care at all about human rights.
Why don't you go down to a gang of MS13 members and show them the United Nations declaration of human rights? I would bet they don't care. Especially since they are involved in child prostitution and human trafficking, which is exactly the same thing as Daesh does to fund their "operations".
