What's wrong with gaming publications from other countries???

I admit that I read the Eurogamer one and it gave me pause due to their control issues, but what does citing a gaming publication in another country have to do with trustworthiness?

I couldn't read it, lol. How was I supposed to comment on the preview. That's why it was the only one from that list I would trust.

The Eurogamer preview is something.

Days Gone is the quintessential 2018 video game. Actually, to be precise and only a bit mean, it's the quintessential 2015 video game.

What a weird way to categorise a game.

I played it four days ago and can't remember what Deacon looks like.

That says more about the writer's memory than anything else.

The Last of Us it isn't, even though The Last of Us is clearly what it wants to be. And State of Decay.

Just the type of generalization I like to see.

It's my opinion. I don't know you but you sound like fanboy who gets easily triggered when someone has different point of view. I read and watched every GI piece if you would like to know. I was looking forward to this game but the more I read and watch the more it turns me off. We will see when the game releases, though.

The preview video from PS Access turns me more on than the Game Informer videos.

I'm still looking forward to it, but it seems like they shouldn't have shown the game in this state

It's actually good, they'll be able to get all the press and opinions and work on them, 1 year is a looooong time, remember Horizon didn't come together until 3 months before launch date.

This is already in much better shape.

so this thread is going to be a mix of people only focusing on the eurogamer article and others getting overly defensive of the eurogamer article isnt it

personally im looking forward to the game. yes it has some issues right now, but its like 9 months out. they have time to polish it up. theyre a small team and this is their first big console game in over a decade, im not expecting horizon levels of polish in an open world, nor am i expecting goty material. it looks like a fun game thats doing some interesting things. if it still looks rough once the batch of previews close to release hits then its time to be worried but for now, im not really. it is strange that they chose to present it in a rough state though

Days Gone has some of the most forgettable characters i have seen lately.

In GI footage we saw dude biker 2 (forgot his name) getting tortured. Do you have option to let him get killed or that was scripted scene and you need to save him to be around you through the game?

So, I guess the other thread died.

What exactly was the issue with the Eurogamer coverage? "It's in Alpha" and? The whole point of the development right now is to fix and polish the game, they need negative feedback in order to know something is an issue. Take the the 20xp popping above the zombies head when you kill them. Bend is currently debating whether or not to keep it, if it bothers you it is in the best interest of yourself and the game to express your negative feelings. That way they know to remove it. Eruogamer is doing their job properly.

Days Gone is the quintessential 2018 video game. Actually, to be precise and only a bit mean, it's the quintessential 2015 video game. It's an open-world zombie-apocalypse survival adventure with a hard-bitten rebel hero who has a code of honour and an upgradeable motorcycle. In the game, you scavenge and craft, shoot, drive and brawl, follow waypoints and get stuck on tree trunks. The rebel hero, who is called Deacon St John, growls things like, "I don't shoot women if I have a choice." The art strives for poetic decay but, for the most part, only musters a rural-trailer-park drabness. I played it four days ago and can't remember what Deacon looks like.

Ouch, finally getting round to reading the Eurogamer piece. Starts with a savage opener! As much as some posters are painting that preview as 'of course it's janky, it's in alpha', none of the criticisms in this paragraph sound like they're about performance/early state of the game. It just sounds like the writer thought it wasn't fun.

Lol. Days Gone looks like the quintessential generic open world zombie game. No offense to the team, but it just doesn't set itself apart.

Such a shame Sony put money on this project and not on something that is visually and thematically different than their other titles.

How many are like me who feel like this is the first Sony game they just can't care about? I don't even care about the jank in the current demo, it just doesn't excite me on a conceptual level when there's TLOU.

What happened to the previous thread guys? I can't imagine things got so out of control that the mods decided to delete it, no one is this emotional about Days Gone right?
Sorry, my bad.

The old thread wasn't being properly updated with new previews as it wasn't originally meant as a general preview thread.

Loudninja made a new preview thread to remedy this - I tried to merge the old one into it to preserve the comments so far, but the thread merge did not have the desired effect, so I instead rebooted this thread and locked the old one.

The old thread and its comments are still there - it's just locked now ( https://www.resetera.com/threads/days-gone-preview-thread.43864/ ).

I'd trust Eurogamer on this. They were one of the only outlets to give God Of War a realistic review when everyone else was losing their minds. Eurogamer, Edge, Easy Allies and Metro Game Central are pretty much the only reviews that matter for me.

wow they not even try to hide it anymore.
Remember euro\usgamer gave horizon zero dawn review
not recommend\ 5/10 score.
Best to take not serious regarding Sony exclusives.

I don't understand. Isn't it supposed to come out in 2019? How are there previews already? Or is this a preview thread of the alpha version? If so, what's the point of alpha version preview? Is it common?

Sorry for the series of questions.
Yeah, seems strange for previews to show up when the game has 1 year development.

I consider myself a big PlayStation gamer (actually I pretty much only game on PS4 this gen) but it always annoys me to see some PlayStation fans so eagerly to defend anything that's first party or exclusive, like they absolutely can't stand the negative previews.

Everything Eurogamer said you either ignore or make fun of, only because they didn't enjoy the game as much as you think you would? Since we all agree that these previews are only for the alpha and not the final game, why do you care anyway? It's not like they are criticizing the final game, if anything they might just encourage the developers to make the game even better. It's just pathetic to see people calling Eurogamer ''fanboy hater'' as if they literally can't accept different voices.

''How dare you insult our new born exclusive of the glory PlayStation empire? Your opinion is laughable and your criticism is invalid, begone haters!''

Calm down people, it's okay that others disagrees with you, especially when they played the demo and you haven't.

EDIT: Personally I'm looking forward to play the game, not a fan of zombies but a zombie open world game with a kick ass bike sounds like a fun time, don't have high expectations for it though.

Sorry for the series of questions.

Maybe these preview obligations were made before the delay was set in stone? I can't imagine them wanting to show the game in this state this soon unless there was some kind of pre-delay obligation.

God of War is amazing tho? I don't get this? A lot of people argued against edge 8.

Either way, footage definitely looks much better now, PS access stuff looks like an actual fun game.

Eurogamer and easy allies are amongst the only reviewers you find reliable. You said the Eurogamer was the only one to give a "realistic" review of god of war, is that because they agreed with your sentiment on the game? Because the easy allies review of god of war was glowing

Pretty sure it was their first actual 10/10 ever even (not 5/5 = 10/10).

Glad to see that people made a gif of the few things I noticed too (and mentioned in the previous thread).

If someone could make a small gif of the second enemy, in the ps acces video @ 4:52 that'd be nice.
