Today in "not having our priorities straight," we have this school shooting. Deaths in US school shootings this year have outnumbered US military personnel dead. Absolutely nothing of substance will actually be done in terms of preventing future violence or trying to teach any social lessons to anyone. And we sure as hell won't openly talk about the shooter's affinity for the Trump family on social media, despite this becoming a trend among a number of killers this past year.

On the same day, a cut-rate Christian morality group is succeeding in their attempts to ban anime tits from Steam. Because, you know, gotta protect the children from boobs on the same online storefront that hosts millions of users a day playing M-rated shooters.

There has only been one way into most schools in suburban Texas since I attended them decades ago. So maybe the reporter was confused by Patrick saying something so staggeringly stupid/out of touch?
I just watched the video and he literally said both entrances and exits. The reporter was accurate and this governor is failing the state of Texas.

tl;dr - Could be report-bombing (by actors unknown), could be SESTA/FOSTA manipulation, or could be generic lobbying because selling porn is against Washington State Law. No word yet from Valve, so everything's still unknown.

Controversial opinion: I don't want to see Weeb Porn when I check the Steam front page for sales and trending games and stuff.

Definitely not saying ban it, just wouldn't mind if the tentacles had their own separate spot on the store.

Like I said in that one thread, I found it funny that this happened while I open up Steam and get a giant picture of a Hyperdimension Neptunia sale.

Yeah, segregating all that stuff would make sense. Get some digital saloon doors for the Steam store, you feel me?

In fact, F.B.I. agents sent an informant to talk to two campaign advisers only after they received evidence that the pair had suspicious contacts linked to Russia during the campaign. The informant, an American academic who teaches in Britain, made contact late that summer with one campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, according to people familiar with the matter. He also met repeatedly in the ensuing months with the other aide, Carter Page, who was also under F.B.I. scrutiny for his ties to Russia.

Fits the description of Stefan Halper:

Two months before the 2016 election, George Papadopoulos received a strange request for a meeting in London, one of several the young Trump adviser would be offered — and he would accept — during the presidential campaign.

The meeting request, which has not been reported until now, came from Stefan Halper, a foreign policy expert and Cambridge professor with connections to the CIA and its British counterpart, MI6.

Halper's September 2016 outreach to Papadopoulos wasn't his only contact with Trump campaign members. The 73-year-old professor, a veteran of three Republican administrations, met with two other campaign advisers, The Daily Caller News Foundation learned.
Halper met campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page at a July 2016 symposium held at Cambridge regarding the upcoming election, Page told TheDCNF. The pair remained in contact for several months.

Halper also requested and attended a one-on-one meeting with another senior campaign official, TheDCNF learned. That meeting was held a day or two before Halper reached out to Papadopoulos. Halper offered to help the campaign but did not bring up Papadopoulos, even though he would reach out to the campaign aide a day or two later.

Wasn't sure what this was so I Googled it. Now I'm on a list somewhere.

They just need Steam Backroom like all the rental places used to have.
The first Neptunia gamess are actually quite harmless on the grand scale of pearl clutching over this stuff. They're AAA productions compared to the kind of stuff getting warnings from Valve. Actually quite amusing JRPGs with a fantastic fourth-wall sense of humor. Not that I'd ever recommend them to anyone not already a fan of said genre. I'm in this extremely weird demographic where I freaking hate the gamergate-led push for acceptance of anime tits while I'm a fan of a lot of "mainstream" JRPGs, but at the same time I dislike the inequality of censorship of sex vs violence, and at the same time I actually still watch some anime despite having almost zero tolerance for fanservice stuff. A... "SJW anime gamer?" Disclaimer: I hate myself.

Wait. Let me go look at this.
...Actually, I take all of that back on Neptunia. This thing on sale is... lol, where the preview screenshots feature cosplay stereotypes, catgirls, bathing, borderline loli, and a yuri shot between sisters. And they're all somehow rated T, holy shit. This series went to hell, my god. The first game a decade ago had almost zero lewd content. In fact they went out of their way to largely avoid it despite being easy fodder for use.

I couldn't care less that it exists, though a back room would be awesome! Give me one for sex and one for guns. It's For The Children™, after all.

Fuck new York times for saying it's an American academic in Britain. That basically gives the enemy the identity.
Yes, but if DOJ/FBI are so concerned about protecting the source, why leak this kind of information to the Times in the first place? Very odd.

Did House Intel Republicans perhaps learn about him and are behind this leak?

fwiw Stefan Halper had been named by right wing media as the informant for some time now. The NYT is more trustworthy than the Daily Caller, sure, but his identity was already burned imo.

Nunes doesn't talk to Trump directly any more, according to that "Bigger than Watergate" story, he just talks to his lawyers. But perhaps Nunes leaked this to NYT, so that he distances himself from it all even more. Trump and his lawyers can claim they just "followed what the NYT said".

There's no meaningful legal distinction between telling Trump directly and telling to his legal representation. And Trump already revealed that they passed it on because he's a dolt.

Was the academic mentioned in the dossier or was it only mentioned since the "Russia incvestigation beginings" articles since Nov/Dec last year?

DOJ / FBI almost certainly didn't.
