Do you guys play videogames when sick? Like more than Just the sniffles kind of sick. Strong headaches or fever inducing colds and what not.

I am currently suffering through an extreme ly painful windpipe infection. Coughing makes me wanna die and swallowing feels like some one is pushing their entire fist down my throat.

I recently got fireemblem warriors on the switch and it has been the perfekt distraction. Engaging and robust enoigh to be distract me, but simple enough to not me super tired or fever delirious.

So what do you guys do when sick?

It depends on if I have a headache or not. I have trouble playing games with a headache, just makes it worse.

Nope, if I feel terrible then I won't be able to enjoy playing video games and it'd probably just make me feel worse. If I'm sick I'm probably in bed.

I used to. All of my sick days or P.A. days off from school were spent playing video games and watching TV. Now, I don't game as much or game as much when I'm sick. I tend to lay down and rest.

Depends on how sick. Last time I had anything other than a cold, I found that sitting upright to play a game required too much energy, so I just laid down in my bed and set youtube to autoplay all of Lazy Game Reviews.

No. I'd rather watch movies and TV shows that demand less from me. I almost never play during the week when I come home too tired either.
I like playing in long sessions, so if playing more than a couple hours won't be possible due to sickness or time constraints I'd rather do something else.

If possible at all I give it a try at least. I have find memories lying in bed with the flu playing the first Mass Effect, or recently Monster Hunter World in the first week of february, though I was so out that I can't remember the first 10 hours of the game.
Other times I just can't handle gaming when sick and rather watch a tv series.

No, I won't be able to enjoy the game. I rather sleep and if I can't do that then just watch tv or a movie.

Usually, yes.

But unfortunately it also paints my memories of how I was feeling at the time when I think of the game in question. I had a serious stomach bug when I played through the majority of Nier Automata and now whenever I think of that game I remember of sick I was, lol. Which is too bad because it's a great game but damn I feel nasty whenever I think about it.

Depends, I can't really stand to look at light when I get migraines. And motion in general is usually a no-go with nausea. But other than that, hell yeah I do, I'm not gonna waste a bona fide day off.

I was always so annoyed when I'd stay home sick from school and my mom would nag me that I wasn't allowed to play video games. Like, Ma, I already slept for 15 hours so that's not gonna happen and otherwise I'm just sittin' here, who cares.

Yeah it depends on how sick I am. Usually I'm just in bed or on the couch asleep. Or falling asleep to a movie, show, etc. If I take some meds then I might be able to game for a bit until it wears off and I start to feel really shitty again.

Hell yeah.

I mean, I won't play something like CS:GO or something that demands too much skill.

Otherwise, hell yeah.

It depends. Usually gaming can distract me from any symptoms I'm feeling, unless I'm really bed ridden with high fever or anything. But if my nose is runnling like crazy, then no way. What if anything gets on the controller!?

It depends: sometimes there's nothing more healing than resting in bed while relaxing in the world of Zelda BotW (for example), but there are also the days, when I just can't stand keep my eyes focused - especially on a TV, so no watching movies or gaming then.

The last time I was sick was way back in 2013 with flu. I remember I spent the whole time in bed playing Fallout 3. So yeah, if I'm sick I'll game.

If I'm sick enough to alter my behavior, I'm probably not playing a game. I'm probably trying to sleep or watching a low impact show with the hope that I fall asleep.

Depends on how sick. I had the flu in January and didn't touch games fir 2 weeks. But 15 years ago I had a surgery complication and was gone out of work for 30 days. I stayed with my mom and brought my Gamecube and exclusively played Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door the whole time. It was magical - game was amazing and in my top 10 ever now, and it made me forget about what was happening with my body.

Yes. One of my fondest gaming memories is when I first played Road Rash on the 3DO when I was in bed with flu as a kid.

Food poisoning, stomach bug, or something else that completely incapacitates me would be the exceptions.

I actually hate playing games while sick. I usually start to associate the game with that time being sick and I don't enjoy the game much either.

My consoles are within arms reach of my bed so I always play games when sick. How I'm feeling will depend on what I play though. If I've got a headache then I will play something without too much action and something I don't really need to focus on. (Unless it's so bad I can't look at the screen)
If I might need to run out to the toilet then I'll play something that can be properly paused.

Not when I have a fever (starting at about 38 - 38.5 degrees C). Too taxing on the mind. It's why I don't tend to read books either when I'm sick. I'm either in bed trying to sleep or on the couch watching dumb comedies or sports. (I loved having pharyngitis during the 2006 Winter Olympics — aside from the pain of course.)

Sometimes, Mario Kart is usually the go to game for me to play if I'm not feeling well, that or a lot of other Nintendo games.

Generally it's my favorite part of being sick. If it's really bad though, I tend to sleep or watch television.

Watching videos, resting, sleeping most of the time when sick. Barely playing video games because I'm not in the right mood to enjoy them.

Can't game when I'm sick, at least not like stated in OP. If I have something that is distracting me like that I can't really concentrate on games and won't get much enjoyment from them. I'm usually just laying down watching something on TV. I can't even read which also sucks.

Yeh if general sickness.

No if I have a migraine, couldn't even if I wanted to.

Also no if I have any kind of awful vomiting/bathroom based contagious illness. Don't want those kind of germs on my controller!

Fever or headache = no way. I'm watching The Office or something that doesn't require mental focus.

Any other type of sickness, sure.

Probably not. There are some moments where I remember playing games with a cold (Played through the entirety of KH2 on PS3 with one) but for the most part I'm laid out with either netflix or Hulu on binge watching one show or another.

I love to play 4X and other strategy games like Civilization when I am sick. It helps me to forget all those symptoms like running nose or not able to breath through the nose, sore throat, headaches, growing pains et cetera.

Of course there where a few times where I was so sick and weak that all I could do was sleep. But after this weak phase when there are only the other symptoms left I started to play games again.

It's a weird one. I have a bad cold today and generally just down with something. Was watching the new Blade Runner, and even though I can tell it's a good film, my concentration and patience was just not there. So I don't feel I gave it a fair shout. I'd imagine the same would have applied had I been playing a game.

I only play games I've already played or have already invested a significant amount of time into when I'm sick. I've found that when starting a new game when sick I tend to associate the feeling of being sick with the game, which is not a good thing.

I'm pretty sick right now, terrible sinus infection. Played a few games on mobile, but the pounding headache and endlessly running nose prevent any real attention-demanding games. Just way too distracting.
