You would think the game would have been pretty polished for how long it took it to come out after the first one.

Was hyped for this game, Sea of Theives and AOE remake made me super cautious about anything from MS Studios from now on

The bugs and the lack of a 30FPS framerate cap have really put me off the game. Not sure if I'll even download the game in its current state on Gamepass, hopefully it's better in a couple weeks.

I'm still in all the way on this game considering the 360 version was a damned beautiful mess almost all the time. Had better moments playing that one than any other zombie game.

User Warned: Platform-war rhetoric.
Repetitive and unpolished according to the reviews. Yep, it does sounds like a Microsoft's exclusivity alright.

Hmmm, the whole "Xbox One exclusives + Game Pass" thing starts to feel a bit like "Netflix originals" movies / shows. "Hit or Miss / Not amazing, but hey, it's kinda free, so ..." (fwiw, i'm a perfectly happy Netflix subscriber... so i guess that's not even necessarily a bad thing)

Let's see if we'll be adding Crackdown to that list.

That Eurogamer Review sure is something. My only exposure to the game so far is them playing it on GiantBomb, and it looked suprisingly bug / jank free for a Zombie Survival game.

No he means more time can't really help them due to their size and capabilities.it was not mentioned it was allowed .

if they release patches in the future that fix these bugs, then time is exactly what would have helped them. if however this game stays as a constant buggy mess, then yeah, maybe time and capabilities wouldn't have ever made a difference.

About what I expected for a sequel to State of Decay and a $30 title. I think my my metric for "scathing" is different from every one else's here. This is better than SoT, no?

Hmmm not great. But, a lot of my favourite games weren't tremendously well received frankly. I take fun over polish any day, and the truth is the launch state of many games doesn't reflect how they end up. This is becoming more true over time.

now that you mentioned it...it kinda. It kinda like 'Bright' or 'Cloverfield paradox'...sounds cool with the trailers and then you watched it and boy, is it janky as hell.

Angola / Zaire border region.
Yikes that Eurogamer review is brutal. Reminds me again of this quote from Phil after Scalebound was cancelled:
"We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year [2017], including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences."
Only Halo Wars 2 launched in 2017, Sea of Thieves has received major backlash, Crackdown has seemingly fallen off the face of the earth and now this... MS first party is at an historic nadir right now, it is really sad to witness.

True . Issue here is that from the first tariler they made it seem like this will be a polished Game.i honestly thought after first trailer that this will be a competitor for last of us or dying light .but after i saw the game play last year I realized the first trialer was misleading .

I feel like their association with Microsoft is doing them more harm than good when it comes to critical reception. It gives them too much attention if that makes sense. At the end of the day it's a niche budget title like the first one that really serves a specific part of an audience. Shame about the bugs though.

My review isn't finished yet, since I havent been able to find many multiplayer sessions pre-release. All in all, it's good, but very much more of the same. A solid 7, nothing amazing but nothing bad either.

Frustratingly, all three games (HW2, SoT, SoD2) seem like they were released too early. HW2 was, as a huge fan of the original, a massive disappointment and plagued with technical issues.

Looking good. Pretty much every review is praising the actual gameplay mechanics. Quite a few bugs got patched already with the day-one patch by the way, which clearly isn't noted by enough reviews.

Can't wait for tomorrow. Friends and mine pre-orders are ready! Will be a zombified weekend.

I remember when some people were saying it's a good thing they cancelled scalebound because it saved them from playing a potentially bad game.

Going by that logic it's not the only thing they should have cancelled.

At fast glance can't really find any deep dives into how the PC port fares.

It seems you can't even change the resolution when playing in fullscreen mode. Can't wait for Digital Foundry's PC analysis ^^

Whats wrong with AoE remake?

Many people couldn't even launch the game, lots of bugs, missing features like skill-based matchmaking and leaderboards, no trace of the promised mod support etc...

The repetition was a big problem in the first game, unfortunate that the sequel still has the same problem. The sim aspect was cool in the first game but got old way to quickly because you basically saw everything it had to offer in the first few hours.

Oh Microsoft.

First Sea of Thieves. Then this. Now Crackdown looks like it will be the next in line for mediocre titles not even breaking the 80 metacritic mark.

Xbox needs to fix up and fast.

Well, guess I'll just play Project Zomboid again and see if they fix the game in a few months.

Yep I watched some of FightinCowboy's stream the other day and he spent ages looking for an option to turn the motion blur down/off (there isn't one). He then tried to turn the resolution down as he was getting poor framerates at his native resolution but was unable to do so unless he ran it in windowed mode.

The ACG review is rather glowing. One thing that's interesting is he notes that decisions from hours prior can have significant outcomes later, though there wasn't really any prominent examples. Gameplay seen on twitch doesn't seem so dire either so maybe it's more of a passive thing.

Getting slammed for bugs but the first game was pretty buggy too so I'm not too surprised. It's a shame though as this could be built up to be a premier IP but it doesn't seem to be given the time (or finances maybe) to really knock it out of the park.

I'm still looking forward to giving it a spin. Hopefully the Steam version isn't too far off.

I see reviews mentioning it feels like a budget title. Well... it is? It costs 30$, it's basically an indie game, expecting GTA-esque polish from it seems odd.

Dont expect any significant improvements after launch, they will fix some bugs but the game will still be a janky/buggy mess : / just look at how the first SoD runs on Xbox One.

I loved the first one and Im sure im going to lo love this one too but still... kinda disappointed about performance, I though the move to Unreal Engine would have helped.

Looking like just what I was expecting, and thats generally pretty good. It seems like a very solid 7, and that's all good in my book!

Don't really care for reviews, Sea Of Thieves will probably be my GOTY, and is already sitting in my top-5 games of all time list.

Deeming everything below 80 mediocre is the reason we get very few risky games from AAA developers. Why bother risking a failure when you can deliver another Call Of Duty or Assassin's Creed safely?

Looks like the game is in a state of decay. These reviews aren't surprising judging from the previews.

There are other budget titles that have released in recent years, many of which have had tremendous amounts of polish. Being a budget title doesn't absolve the game of core issues like bugs that negatively impact gameplay.

Well, guess I'll just play Project Zomboid again and see if they fix the game in a few months.

Not heard of this before and just checked it out on steam, it looks very interesting. Thanks for mentioning it.

This game will be very enjoyable to a certain crowd, so I don't view this as a disaster at all.

The lack of polish on State of Decay 2 is a shame, but there is a lot of depth to it. Obviously not an excuse for bugs/poor performance, but I would take scores with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately, discussion is going away from the actual game in just two pages.
