Hey guys, since I'm waiting for my Amazon order on Tuesday.... I have some questions

How's the multi player? Is it playable? Are there enough people to play with?

Does it run and play well? Is it fun?

Does it have multiple modes?

Just trying to gauge how good, or not good the multi player part of it might be (I know not the main draw)
I've been in some full multiplayer games so far

Man alive, switching the control settings to have jump on the left bumper and the game just clicks - I am not disappoint at all in that I bought the digital version.

Whilst I own the PC version, this is just glorious for lunch breaks/traveling to work etc.

DOOM really is a technical marvel. To get this running as good as it does on what is essentially a tablet is ridiculous.

It's pretty impressive. Just think of what would be done coded to the Switch itself and not a port. Nvidia's tech is good stuff. I'm curious if they'll put Half Life 2, Metal Gear Solid 2 and other Nvidia Shield games on it. If Nintendo and publishers allow.

No interest in getting this on the Switch (already happy enough with my PC copy) but I just watched the Giant Bomb Quick Look and (outside of multiplayer issues which is likely to be their internet) the port looks pretty good. Granted, they didn't show off performance and visuals from handheld mode (which is hard to do) but I think I'd be happy with the sacrifices the game has made to be able to go portable.

Amazon was perfect for smo. I received it on launch day without prime. Same for Metroid or most of the games I ordered.
This doom situation is unusual :(

Me too. Had a great few recent orders with prime that haven't arrived when they said they would. My main issue with Amazon with new games is they refuse to send them early. They never ship them on a Wednesday.

Surprised how quickly I was able to adjust from the PC version. It's really impressive they got this game running as well as it does. Wish it was 60 fps, but I'll take it.

usually they have always shipped my orders on thursdays which resulted in a delivery on friday. Except for ARMS, whicjh I got on the next wednesday. Weird and frustrating.

edit : and if I go to the game's page it says "order now and get it on monday" which is the day they're supposed to ship. I think they're making a fool of me.

One thing they absolutely have to patch is the font size. Playing in tabletop mode is so much fun, but when there's text on the screen I feel like I'm blind. It's clearly meant for display on a 50 inch TV. There should have been some consideration to make the fonts bigger in handheld/tabletop mode.

Game is currently No. 4 on the eShop bestsellers list. Hopefully that's a good sign? I mean, it seems like it's selling pretty well for a $60 Mature-rated game on a Nintendo system right after Mario came out.

Same here, last two months were shit with Prime as for games that release on Friday, I get those on Thuesday/Wednesday the week after, before I was able to get those mostly on release day.

After I receive Xenoblade 2 copy, I'm cancelling my Prime subscription with a big list of complaints on how they dropped the ball for the second half of the year. Including reducing the pre-order discount to 10% instead of 20%. (Canadian here)

I'm curious if they changed the build since the hands-on that occured last month. Nobody reported blurriness and text hard to read from what I read.

I think Doom will find a decent-sized audience on Switch.

On Switch, it doesn't have any competition in the first-person shooter genre. There's no Call of Duty, Overwatch, or Battlefield on Switch. There isn't even an Ubisoft FPS game like Red Steel or ZombiU.

Well this is a joy so far. I only played about half an hour of the game on my xbone, but I'm loving the toilet play here.

I did a few multiplayer matches, and had fun. I'll be doing single player after work tomorrow.

Here's hoping. DOOM is one of those games that "speaks to me." I really believe games have the power to make people happy by tapping into our innocent childlike capacity for fun. DOOM, for all its gory trappings, really captures that element like the best Nintendo games. It just feels so good to play! :-)

some people complained about this, mainly in the review thread iirc.

Nice to see the game at least chart on the e shop, even if it does not reflect the overall picture. The success of this game could definitely change the perspective regarding third party mature games on the platform.

What's crazy to me is that after the GBA and NDS, which each had a fair share of bad to great FPS's on them, the 3DS had virtually none outside of Fed Force and some eShop ports by Renegade Kid. The Vita had a couple (Killzone, Borderlands).

I mean I get that most people think of FPS's as games that need amazing graphics and online features, but it was a huge disappointment to me that the 3DS and Vita hardly got much after the GBA/NDS got quite a few.

So I'm glad to see a great effort for one on this and I hope we see others (looking forward to Wolf2 and Prime 4). I mean, they don't even have to be current gen games. I'd be happy to see like a Doom Collection with Doom 1 thru 64. That'd be banging. Or like, a Metroid Prime Colleciton. I mean ideally there'll be new games in the genre on here of course. But the options are way bigger than just portable downports of current gen! Too bad publishers just don't often see the potential.. so we'll see.

Standards for FPS in the post COD 4-era. Without a second stick on the 3DS it's really tough to make a compelling FPS experience. It was possible on the Vita but I think that's just more of a general software support issue rather than one of platform capabilities.

I've been watching every DOOM Switch related video I can find because I'm hoping this sells beyond Bethesda expectations on the Switch. Seems like we won't have a idea of how well DOOM Switch is doing until NPD for NA and whatever Europe uses for sales tracking next month.

What you're saying makes sense but I'm curious to see how Switch owners take to Western 3rd parties after the way things went down on the Wii U. I also hope sales for the Switch version blows every one away (sale wise) so that I can go to a certain someone I know and shit talk.

Reminder: the eShop tracks the last two weeks whenever it updates (each three hours). This means that, for example, Doom being 4th on the US eShop means that it sold more than what almost all the other games did between September 27th to October 10th in less than 4 days, thanks to pre-load (even if I've actually seen the game starting seriously ripping and tearing the charts once its official release less than 24 hours ago). I'm honestly surprised it's doing it this quickly.

EDIT: And yeah, Monopoly is somehow doing more than what it deserves, given its pricing. Uno will probably peak not that low as well (by peak I mean the position in charts a game reach when its first two weeks are entirely included in the tracking period).

Can you go back to the previous areas to look through for missing secrets after passing a stage? I just finished the first area and having a blast so far.

Yeah, go to Mission Select and replay them. What's nice is you'll have all of your gear that you've gotten since then.

So i am playing this right now an I'm actually impressed how good this game looks. Switch is much more capable than I first thought.

But Framerate is very rough in some parts. If I had to guess I would say it's as low as 10-15 fps in some spots. Hope a patch can help a little.

Nevertheless I'm having a blast with the game and even played a couple of rounds multyplayer. Good fun :)

Surprised it's #4 on the eshop. I honestly thought Sonic Forces would outdo it easily despite the relative quality of both games but Forces overall is pretty low.

You're probably right.

Although we got some great shooters on NDS which had zero analog sticks -- you basically had KBAM-like controls using the Dpad and touch screen, which would have worked as well on 3DS. But end of the day, it boils down to the assumption that there's not enough of a market for an FPS on these handhelds, I think, and there not being dual analog is part of it I'm sure.

Ah well. So let's hope for more on the Switch!

Being #4 seems really good. I hope we hear from Bethesda at some point in regards to how they view the sales they are seeing. Furthermore, I hope this sells decently and encourages more content that you don't typically associate Nintendo systems with.

Just remember to not freak out when both DOOM and Skyrim don't set the UK charts on fire in the coming weeks. The games are going to sell just fine when all is said and done.

I like the exploratory nature of the game so far, another thing I find intriguing is it has so much horror imagery yet it isn't really scary at all

How hard is to transfer from a microsd to a SDXC? Is It even possible? I have Skyrim preloaded on a 64 microsd and want to download DOOM as well, but once my 128 sdxc arrives Id like to use that instead. Sorry for the small ot

So glad this is doing well in the charts. Won't be able to join in the fun until next week, but watching from the sidelines with great interest.
