Mueller doesn't seem like the type who would rock the boat by challenging Justice guidelines.

I never expected him to indict.

cheeto cant be indicted is one thing(and not an odd thing since DOJ has had this opinon for awhile), doesn't mean anyone in his circle cant be, just sayin.

Also: Mueller saying Trump can't be indicted while President is 100% expected. No idea if he actually told Trump's people or not but it's been the DOJ opinion for decades. Least shocking news ever.
I'll be honest, I've never bothered to look into the argument for this. Do you know why that is standing DOJ opinion? Is there legal basis for it, or just practicalities of it being too distracting for whoever is sitting in office?

Admittedly PoliERA bubble is what we wished the general forum was, but isnt.
Was there any actual confirmation that mods changed their policy to be much more hands off in the the general threads regarding politics and the like, or did people just infer that because of the nonsense that is now tolerated and isn't dealt with like it once was?

If Mueller isn't going to try and indict a sitting president (wholly expected), I'm wondering if using the report as leverage to finally force Congress to remove him from office only to face unpardonable state crimes is the best we're going to be able to hope for?

Why would Mueller do this. Great, like ive been saying all along, Trump's greatest protection is him being president. Get ready for dictator Trump. Cant go after him while he's president! I mean, he'll be dead in 20 years anyway, whats 4 more terms.

Trump's out on Jan. 19 2024 no matter what don't you worry.
Pretty much, which is why I found this little place and never went back (to the political threads, I mean).

They're certainly occasionally entertaining though!

The GOP House isn't going to do anything. They are going to pray they lose the House to the Dems so they can impeach him. Then they can scream and howl on right-wing media about the Liberal boogeymen again.

Ivanka Trump will be still alive in 20 years. As Hillary Clinton once said: The glass ceiling will be shattered someday.

I've never entertained that congress would impeach and remove Trump. It's still important to have the investigation and find out the truth though no matter how many people believe it or not. As always, the important thing is to get people out and voting.

I mean, even if you can't indict a sitting president you can indict his entire family and the VP right?

Just leave him all alone and you've effectively destroyed anything anyway.

I live in this district and voted for Eastman. It seems like the 90s broke the Democratic party establishment. They have an absolute lack of imagination for anything outside the current status quo. Instead of using this district to test the viability of pushing genuine healthcare reform to conservative leaning voters, they will abandon the it and run another Ashford in 2020.

There's still a lot of that in the Democratic party hierarchy. It's the same reason the Senate Majority Leader is pro-Jerusalem-embassy. The party leadership is hella old and out of touch. The problem is that the alternative seems to be Our Revolution, so...

Rudy and Trump are eager to end the investigation at the first anniversary because that's typically when they get bored of their wives.

"Uh huh uh huh uh huh, yes honey. Let's wrap this up"

The dragon Miller piece is amazing but the you can only hope to "cocaine him" is some next level stuff for me. I was guffawing for like an hour

I rarely participate on the poli thread but I am on here first thing when I wake up until right before I close my eyes always reading and appreciating the dialogue you all provide. The OT can be fun though as long as you recognize it for the insanity that it is

The cover-up may not be greater than the crimes.
Holy shit, WHAT? They doctored a financial database?

Jail's too good for them.

Even better going through the article, it seems that FINCEN might've pulled it because of the sensitivity of these two missing SARS, which COULD be at the behest of any investigations Cohen is under.

Ooh man, this guy's gonna fry.

uh, this is big. Its implying Tresurey Department coverup.

But, according to the official who leaked the report, these SARs were absent from the database maintained by the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN. The official, who has spent a career in law enforcement, told me, "I have never seen something pulled off the system. . . . That system is a safeguard for the bank. It's a stockpile of information. When something's not there that should be, I immediately became concerned." The official added, "That's why I came forward."

Its a law enforcement official that leaked shit to Avenatti and others.

Hi Brian. While conspiracy theories are not tolerated, people generally expressing their worries - even if they are unfounded - is not against the TOS.

Also, this is PoliERA now - a place that has grown beyond just a transplant of a previous community. Like any community thread, there are naturally going to be changes in tone and tempo from time to time - and not everyone will be caught up with the most up-to-date set of news events. Still, if you see a problem please use the reporting system. And for general moderation questions, please PM an admin.

Schumer being militantly pro-Israel to the degree he is is a Schumer thing, not a "Dem Old Guard" thing.

The report also refers to two previous suspicious-activity reports, or sars, that the bank had filed, which documented even larger flows of questionable money into Cohen's account. Those two reports detail more than three million dollars in additional transactions—triple the amount in the report released last week. Which individuals or corporations were involved remains a mystery. Wow. The article raises the possibility the earlier two reports were restricted because of their sensitive nature / ongoing investigation, but it would be NUTS if someone tried erasing them from the system.

Thanks and sorry! Didn't meant anything by it and I've seen several other people make the comment, so I was just looking for clarity and that's why I phrased it as a question and not anything approaching something that could be construed as a statement of fact. Thanks again.

I've had good luck with reporting so far. Mods seem to rely more on users than actively police everything now.

Perhaps inartfully posted initially by me, but that is what I was generally asking.

Anyway, moving on.
