Nah, thanks. That's pretty much what I need to put my own thoughts in order to see what I should improve on.

I'll try to pick Hit back up again and refamiliarize myself with him. I don't like how much of his gameplay basically requires hard reads to get anything going, but maybe I'll be able to make it work if I give him more time.

So just as an addendum because it randomly occurred to me while I was doing my Goku/Tien ToD stuff, in that situation we talked about with the 21 2H and the three bars when you were trying to get her out, you could've raw tagged in Goku after 21's vanish for his hard knockdown or a super ender. That's how you set up the 6 bar super dump with Tien point, and it would've been the most meter efficient way to tag her out there.

Right, or I could have really just tagged in Goku after the 2H hit. I gotta be cognizant of those situations.

One of 21's bigger shortcomings people don't really talk about imo. 80% of the rest of the cast can just autopilot into jH and get a free tag cancel afterward but her lack of a knockdown makes that impossible.

I really need to get back into this game and make a new team. Was running 21 or Bardock / Black / Vegeta. Been thinking about some new teams... Curious as to how 21 / Trunks or Yamcha / SSj Goku.

So, i was thinking about how i parry too much and also the fact that goichi pretty much never parries and would rather use his godlike blocking instead of taking his turn back. I see him taking staggered pressure all the time (like jab jab, delay, jab) on purpose.

Im trying to think if parrying is a thing that should be done in situations like meaties. Outside of stuff like parrying a vanish into the corner, it does seem like the risk (delay, empty jump, dr, all into full combos) is way higher than the reward (some space, maybe some quick bullshit to hit them if they were spamming), whereas eating a block and blocking properly mitigates that. This is probably only really applicable to higher lvl players tho...at my level (kinda fraudulent pink) i still reap a lot of reward for parrying to shift momentum or deal mental dmg. But it's likely a bad habit in the long run...

Quick comparison would be eating a throw in sfv so you dont risk getting shimmied

Nah, parrying is legit, you can get a punish off deflect but it is not always guaranteed and depends on the move/character you are parrying. Just don't overuse it against an opponent thats dragon rushing a lot and you should be fine.

Yeah, but the thing with this comparison is that in SFV, taking the throw typically means getting out of pressure (somewhat) and taking less damage than you'd potentially receive by getting shimmied. Meanwhile, the risk of "just blocking" in FighterZ is potentially getting opened up and essentially ending up in the same situation you would have if the reflect was baited.

Still, reflect is extremely risky. In pressure situations, waiting can lead to baiting out a vanish, a wake-up level 3, or a reflect. Covers a lot of options, however you sacrifice oki. But when the recovery frames are so huge for reflect, it makes reacting to it and punishing it pretty simple.

GO1 doesn't need to think about it because he knows his defense is top notch, so he doesn't need to play that risk/reward game with reflect. But not everyone has the defense he does, so sometimes it's pretty much needed to reflect an obvious setup or pressure.

New OT!

We should be expecting more info on Zamasu and Vegito next week right? Maybe even a release date?

The assumption is both will release toward the end of this month?

Yeah it basically boils down to "should i up my blocking game since it seems more optimal", but it's probably gonna be a long ass time training before i can achieve something even close lol

One thing i can try to deal with in the short-term is parrying superdashes instead of 2hing, weird habit of mine

I'll just go for random reflects, etc. because blocking for a year isn't fun. It'll either work and I'll get to play again, or my character will die, and I'll get to play again.

Confirmed in the comments that someone guessing the numebrs meant Season, Episode, and date was correct.

S09E268 is Vegito's first appearance. 06/28 being June 28th. Apparently that is not the next DLC release date.

EDIT: Looks like it was a contest for a free FigherZ pass, probably not relevant to anything. My bad y'all!

Really curious about the dramatic scenes we might get. Broly and Bardock got some good ones. V-Jump comes out in 4 days, leaks should be around the corner.

Two nights in a row I've tried playing with a friend and we've been stopped by maintenances. Is it normally this often?

Maintenance is on Tuesdays. Is it down right now? That would be unusual.

I hope Goku gets to resurrect a bird vs. Cooler.

Haven't played in a long time, trying Broly for the first time. What does his Powered Shell move do exactly?

I feel like I'm hitting a points wall after hitting 600k. Like wins give me nothing and losses take so much. It's like it's suddenly asking me to increase my win rate by 20%.

It nullifies projectiles.

A reminder that, before trying to close a match/set cheekily, remember what kind of game this is.

That last Vanish was pretty bad, though. Could have gotten blown up pretty hard for it.

New thread, new leaks. Not really a leak since we already saw VB trailer but he is revealed on V-jump and he does have a dramatic finish with Merged Zamasu.

His stats are (From Google translate so I might mix up the stats up a bit)

Power: S
Speed: S
Technique: S
Reach: A
Energy: SS
Ease of use (I think):SS

I've fizzled out until the new characters hit. I admit, I stupidly was expecting the recent patch to shake up more than it did so I got a little discouraged.

But I still put in some 21 practice every day. I fancied myself a Ginyu main but man...I was being held back instead. I love you, Captain, but I can't.

I wonder if that Gohan vanished on reaction after that blocked DP as an "oh shit" panic move, or if he legit thought that vanish would have saved him.

The 2H on that one was a damn good call

Vanishing after DP makes it "safe", unless you 2H, something I didn't know until now lol. Since all DPs are unsafe on block, vanishing was the best option.

Vegito needs to either have a beam assist or some kind of Vegeta/Yamcha lockdown assist

tbh, if his assist is the kicks, that's prolly really good for lockdown/combo extensions.

I would be ok with kicks but it'd still be nice if there was more beams.

Yeah if he spawns in front of the opponent so i can still do hit's 236m lll assist 236m lll, id definitely consider swapping him into my team.

At the same time ive basically been using beam assist since the beginning, ill prob be losing a crutch ive relied on for a while...

It's pretty reactable once you know to look for it. Vegeta's DP without assists is probably the easiest to 2H due to the low blockstun on the move.

I expect Vegetto to be the new Bardock. They seem to be starting a trend, one uncommon character (Broly/Merged Zamasu) and an all/rounder (Bardock/Vegetto).
Putting my money on Base Vegeta and #17 to be the next "do it all" dlc characters.

I hope Goku gets to resurrect a bird vs. Cooler.
I can see that happening. It's a pretty random scene, out of nowhere Goku gets healing powers.

Only "A" for reach? Stubby normals confirmed. He'd better have a good assist or he's DOA!

Really shines a new light on goku burying vegeta instead of healing him

"Ill be sure to visit your grave"

Also reminds me that it's really enjoyable playing against frieza as goku since goku screams his name for a lot of the moves
