On the topic of Darkseid defeats, as much as I love Final Crisis his death in "Rock of Ages" from Morrison's run on JLA was better.

In a dystopian future where Darkseid reigns supreme, the old and battered Justice League do one final assault. Darkseid is literally untouchable, surrounded by an impenetrable force field. Wonder Woman goes in for the kill but dies taking out the unholy abomination that is the Grandmother Box(a Granny Goodness/Motherbox fusion), Azteka suicide bombs herself, Batman's final stand is little more than thumbing his nose at Darkseid("You want to know why you're surrounded by all these 'maggots,' Darkseid? Because you did what you said you'd do; you recreated the whole world in your image...and what you see in them is your own ugly fa-".)
There is a great bit with the narrator of the issue constantly mentioning that people see him; Batman smiles at him, The Atom asks him a question, Green Arrow steadies himself, and we learn The Black Racer is the narrator.

And then Green Arrow swoops in with the Atom at the ready. Atom calls for a flare arrow and away he goes:

The Atom shrinks down to the size of a photon and rides the light through the force field, into Darkseid's eye, all the way into his brain. Darkseid doesn't understand at first, it takes some gloating from Green Arrow for the reality to sink in("He's in your head, you big, ugly moron."):

And then the end:

Netero vs Meruem

Gon vs Pitou (a fascinating mix of cathartic, sad, and just kinda fucked)

Johnny Joestar vs President Funny Valentine

Josuke's crew vs Kira

Mustang vs Lust

Not all the "final" boss but still major standouts

Perhaps it gets enough plaudits, but I always rather liked the core premise of how the Weeping Angels were defeated in Blink.

Premise is simple enough: Weeping Angels move impossibly rapidly, but only when not looked at; when they are being observed, they are immobile. One touch will teleport you into the past as they devour your future.

Closing scenes are of the heroes of the episode hiding in the TARDIS, being shaken with one Angel at each side, and realising with shock that the TARDIS is dematerialising *around them* (running off to collect the Doctor). And then it vanishes... and they realise that because it vanished as it was being shaken, the Angels are left all looking at each other; frozen in time by their allies.

Couple that with a reasonably coherent stable time loop enabling the heroes to get there in the first place, and you're left with something reasonably satisfying.

Also, to get traditional, being as how it's a "howcatchem": Columbo. Pretty much all of it!

Thunderbolt Fantasy - The Enigmatic Gale vs The Bones of Creation. The Gale's entire arc throughout the series was just to be a mega troll to BoC, destroying his goal in being the greatest swordsman.

Also the final Drunken Master 2 fight. Jackie powering up with the pure alcohol after all the shit he took from kickmaster Ken Lo was the best beatdown.

Not sure if it would count simce Jiren was more antagonist than villain, but his defeat was pretty satisfying after what was otherwise a hit-or-miss tournament.

Joseph Vs Kars in JJBA Battle Tendency is one of my favourite fights in the series.

He ends up getting launched into space, and freezes. He wishes for death, but can't die, so eventually he stops thinking.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - This was so great to watch the first time around. It was just completely insane.
King Bradley Vs Scar - Was a much better villain than Father. Wasn't even in his peak, was wounded earlier both through being stabbed and losing his ultimate eye and still nearly killed Scar even with his additional tattoos.

Laputa: Castle in the Sky - Loved the continued defiance of Sheeta and Pazu causing the destruction of Laputa and basically inadvertently Blinding and killing Muska due to his arrogance, and hubris.
Tywin Lannister - Some wars are won with swords;others with quills and ravens...or getting shot in the privy. Fitting end.

The Count of Monte Cristo avenging himself upon Fernand Mondego is certainly up there as one of the most satisfying villain comeuppance:

The Count of Monte Cristo turned dreadfully pale; his eye seemed to burn with a devouring fire. He leaped towards a dressing–room near his bedroom, and in less than a moment, tearing off his cravat, his coat and waistcoat, he put on a sailor's jacket and hat, from beneath which rolled his long black hair. He returned thus, formidable and implacable, advancing with his arms crossed on his breast, towards the general, who could not understand why he had disappeared, but who on seeing him again, and feeling his teeth chatter and his legs sink under him, drew back, and only stopped when he found a table to support his clinched hand. "Fernand," cried he, "of my hundred names I need only tell you one, to overwhelm you! But you guess it now, do you not?—or, rather, you remember it? For, notwithstanding all my sorrows and my tortures, I show you to–day a face which the happiness of revenge makes young again—a face you must often have seen in your dreams since your marriage with Mercedes, my betrothed!"

The general, with his head thrown back, hands extended, gaze fixed, looked silently at this dreadful apparition; then seeking the wall to support him, he glided along close to it until he reached the door, through which he went out backwards, uttering this single mournful, lamentable, distressing cry,—"Edmond Dantes!" Then, with sighs which were unlike any human sound, he dragged himself to the door, reeled across the court–yard, and falling into the arms of his valet, he said in a voice scarcely intelligible,—"Home, home." The fresh air and the shame he felt at having exposed himself before his servants, partly recalled his senses, but the ride was short, and as he drew near his house all his wretchedness revived. He stopped at a short distance from the house and alighted.

The door was wide open, a hackney–coach was standing in the middle of the yard—a strange sight before so noble a mansion; the count looked at it with terror, but without daring to inquire its meaning, he rushed towards his apartment. Two persons were coming down the stairs; he had only time to creep into an alcove to avoid them. It was Mercedes leaning on her son's arm and leaving the house. They passed close by the unhappy being, who, concealed behind the damask curtain, almost felt Mercedes dress brush past him, and his son's warm breath, pronouncing these words,—"Courage, mother! Come, this is no longer our home!" The words died away, the steps were lost in the distance. The general drew himself up, clinging to the curtain; he uttered the most dreadful sob which ever escaped from the bosom of a father abandoned at the same time by his wife and son. He soon heard the clatter of the iron step of the hackney–coach, then the coachman's voice, and then the rolling of the heavy vehicle shook the windows. He darted to his bedroom to see once more all he had loved in the world; but the hackney–coach drove on and the head of neither Mercedes nor her son appeared at the window to take a last look at the house or the deserted father and husband. And at the very moment when the wheels of that coach crossed the gateway a report was heard, and a thick smoke escaped through one of the panes of the window, which was broken by the explosion.

One villain defeat I like a lot is the one from the My Little Pony Equestria Girls movie Rainbow Rocks. Though I'm not a huge fan of Equestria Girls, no other defeat in the franchise matches this. It's a literal song battle combined with villain redemption.

I came to post this.

Seeing Jiren get slowly worn down over the later portion of the Tournament of Power was really satisfying considering how absurdly OP he was for most of it. And then seeing the big team up for those last few minutes of the fight left the biggest stupid grin on my face.

I also really liked that the fight didn't end with some big long beam clash like the Cell Saga, and instead it was 4 people who were clearly beaten down and spent trying to end the fight including Goku barely being able to go Super Saiyan and Frieza no longer in the gold form.

The final battle between Batman and Red Hood in Batman: Under the Hood is fucking epic, especially when Batman finally just takes the kid apart:

The John Wick 2 fight with Ares (Ruby Rose) was fantastic.

Poor kid didn't realize how outmatched she was until he schooled her.

I came to say this! Thanks, Dantes.

Another that comes to mind:

Superman vs The Elite

cNnyW5G.gif

A team of villains think Supermans way is outdated and push him to do what they are willing to do. So he decides to give them a taste of what that would feel like.
