Probably no proof that it's actually the same person. Keep in mind that Harman Smith(the posters original name, which was the same as the youtuber in question) is a character from Killer 7, so it could easily have been a mistaken identity.

Yup, we can't ban someone for having the same name as a video game character. Also, Harman Smith isn't some minor character in Killer 7, he's a major character.

I was the person who changed his username to Killer751. He explained the situation to me and the other admins. He did not sound like Harman Smith from that YouTube channel/Twitter account (at all). I would know because I've dealt with that YouTuber in the past, and he was a real jerk.

The thing that's confusing me
  • Pokemon wont be revealed in the direct
  • Smash wasn't revealed in the direct
  • 3DS games wont be included in the direct
  • 2019 games wont be included in the direct
So what's in the direct?

- Lots of Smash details and characters we still wouldn't be aware of
- Some extra Pokémon details
- Star Fox Grand Prix
- Fire Emblem
- Animal Crossing
- Pikmin 4
- Mario Maker Deluxe / New 2D Mario
- eShop exclusive stuff
- Fortnite, Travis Strikes Again, Switch footage of whatever is announced by Bethesda/Squeenix

Lots of potential.

I haven't seen that, but it would make sense because only Smash and Pokemon would be more than enough to move a lot of systems...
Even Emily said she doesn't think Retro's game is 2018.

Like I've said I think this game started development in 2016 and I wouldn't be surprised if it's not ready for this year.

If you think there ain't gonna be any 2019 games in the Direct, I got a bridge to sell to you. One that you can race your Arwing over.

They weren't gonna reveal Pokémon in an E3 Direct anyway. But what we could get (assuming that we hold Nintendo to their word on this being 2018-only) is...
  • More info & a release date for Smash
  • More info on Pokémon
  • A reveal & release date for Fire Emblem
  • More info & a release date for Yoshi
  • Some third party reveals (DBFZ, Fortnite, etc.)
  • Other surprises
That'd still make for a solid Nintendo showing at E3 this year, even if the worst-case scenario happens & we don't hear a peep about next year's line-up.

To be fair, Nintendo was more adamant about it this time, going as far as to say that 2019 titles will be featured at a later date.

The direct will start off by focusing on the legacy of Metroid Prime and a trilogy port announcement for the Switch, before swerving focusing fully on Star Fox: GP for the rest of the direct. To maximize Era meltdowns.

I think most of those trademarks refer to stages and stuff related to Smash including Wii "____" or Nintendo is just reupping those.

Like the link shows there are two separate patents. Smash, Pikmin, F-Zero and Star Fox are in one patent with different categories that seem to point to F-Zero is coming, since it's lumped in with real games.

Good thinking, shame about the name confusion.
Hopefully the Killer 7 remaster will make more fans :p

Obviously not everything you listed, but third party games such as Spyro, from Ubisoft, Bethesda, Square, Sega and Capcom will be present as well. Anyway, Tregard is on the right track: some of this plus third parties and we are in for a very solid E3. They will show a couple of 2019 things as well I am assuming. And without smoke and mirrors.

What are you talking about? Nintendo is not one of the most hated companies in this site. The mods themselves love Nintendo.

While there's certainly fanboysm all around in all 3 camps, resetera is not a "sony centric" place.
We are not reading the same threads then. For example, Star fox thread is a continously Nintendo bashing thread and we do not know if the game exists.I assure you this will not happen with a Sony game. Fake outrage all over the place. It is not a topic to discuss here though.

So what's in the direct?

2019 games will likely be shown with a short trailer, but no real gameplay breakdown, or maybe not even gameplay footage in their respective trailers. Much like Prime 4's thing last year. Hopefully nothing like Pokemon's announcement last year.

Pokemon will likely have a feature in the Spotlight. X/Y, Omega Ruby/Alpha Saphire, were both featured in their respective years despite being revealed early (the latter being revealed even a month before E3.)

Smash will be in the Direct.

Fire Emblem will certainly be revealed at this point.

Yoshi could get a formal reveal.

Metroid Prime 4 was listed in that Walmart Canada leak, despite most people hypothesizing it'll 2019 (which is probably correct), I can't imagine we don't see a trailer for it here.

Star Fox Grand Prix will likely be revealed.

Monolith Soft's been hiring like crazy for their new project so maybe they're in a position to show something akin to a CG trailer.

Bayonetta 3 could get a CG trailer.

I'm hoping there's a 3rd-party montage that takes like 5 minutes and doesn't spend too much time on these announcements, especially considering a lot of them are probably late ports. Fortnite, GTA, etc. Not necessarily those games but games of that variety.

It has the potential to be jam-packed, just maybe not with megaton announcements. We really have next to no idea about their Q2 aside from Smash and a few titles in July. It's all about filling the schedule now.

EDIT:
I wonder if we're going to get the Mini Direct that ZhugeEX seemed to hint at?

When did he do this?

Pokemon might just be announced in a mini Direct, or maybe just a Direct that's dropped essentially out of nowhere and not necessarily branded as "mini."

I'm starting to doubt we'll see a full-on Direct before E3 like we get most years though, what with Nintendo dropping a lot of info on Aces and Octopath just on Twitter.

Hopefully this mean Directs and their E3 presentations will largely be for new game announcements and reveals, and updates on previously announced videos will just be random tweets.

I was thinking a mini Direct for the rest of the Mario Tennis info, Nintendo Online, and Pokémon, but they dropped a lot of it without a direct so may just be a Pokémon only event if that

Usually Pokemon likes its own Direct, and apart from E3 or spin-offs, I'd be surprised if that changed any time soon.

OH YEAH. THAT REMINDS ME.

They BETTER not show Mario Tennis at E3 at all. That would be a real buzzkill. I could see them pulling an E3 2015 and showing off all of these games that no one cares about for fifteen or twenty minutes.

I remember when Yarn Yoshi came out early in Europe and then Nintendo has a long segment on Yoshi because the US hadn't gotten it yet. Was so bad, lol.

But Mario tennis will likely be shown in some capacity. Hopefully not long

It's coming out the week after E3 ends so they'll most likely want to do a final reminder.
Showing nothing would be quite strange.

Eh... IMO, unlikely. Whenever someone asks them about their next project, Monolith always makes it sound like they're going to wait until the XBC2 DLC is done before discussing it. Plus, their recent job hirings make it sound like the game's still a while off yet--I wouldn't expect an announcement until maybe next year, and a release in 2020.

I don't know, we were expecting to have to wait until 2020 for a new Xenoblade, but they managed to pump out XC2 in a couple of years.

So if rumors/leaks are true, I think this will be Nintendo's lineup:
August- Yoshi
September- Smash Bros.
October- Star Fox Grand Prix or Fire Emblem
November- Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee
December- Star Fox Grand Prix or Fire Emblem

1st half 2019 could have Animal Crossing, 2D Mario, Pikmin and ports such as Metroid Prime Trilogy, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Kid Icarus Uprising. Etc.

They'll probably include it in a little montage before the main series of trailers, much like they did with ARMS. Won't be in it enough to be offensive. Hopefully, they make NO mention of tournaments or eSports at all though.

I mean, ARMS launched the week after E3 last year and they didn't focus on it in the spotlight, I wouldn't worry about Tennis getting too much attention

That's a pretty insane lineup. Like 5 main series entries in great franchises. That's probably the best case scenario, I'd lower your expectations.

I wouldn't call another 2D Yoshi game a 'big release.'

Please keep in mind we haven't had a really good Switch release all year so far.

Come on, we just had Kirby and Labo, and in a few weeks we'll have Mario Tennis and Sushi Striker...

2017 : 1 2 Switch, Zelda, Arms, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Musou, Mario, Xenoblade 2. 7 games. (8 with Snipperclips)
2018 : Kirby, Labo, Sushi, Mario Tennis, Yoshi, Smash, Pokémon, Fire Emblem. 8 games (9 with Labo Robot), maybe more.

If I wanted to play a 2D Yoshi game, I would play Island again.

I don't particularly want another Yoshi rehash for Switch. I want them to do something new. Yoshi has been long overdue for a proper 3D entry. Imagine a 3D Yoshi's Story. That would be gorgeous.

Kirby was a disappointment for the same reason. I'm not interested in Labo, and Fire Emblem is still unannounced. It COULD be a huge step in the right direction for the franchise, but it could also double down on Fates' problems. That leaves Smash Bros, which probably isn't going to be just a rehash of Smash 4.

I am NOT happy with the Switch line up so far this year.

Yoshi will most likely sell more then Xenoblade 2. And Xeno was considered a big release, Yoshi is one as well.

We've had a couple of good Switch releases. Kirby is doing well, Bayonetta is doing better then the Wii U Version And DK is looking like it's might end up Doubling its Wii U counterpart.

I think that has nothing to do with the games themselves, but the Switch simply being a much more popular platform than the Wii U.

I believe that a 3D Yoshi game would do significantly better than another 2D one.

But what if nobody wants to do a 3D Yoshi ? Let Nintendo do what they want to do, it's going fine for them. You are not happy with the current line up, I get it, I can understand. But they don't "have to have more". It's a very very good line up.

While I don't really disagree that this year is looking fairly lackluster in games I personally like, you have to realize that we don't represent the mass market.

3D Mario's sell worse than 2D generally. Hell, 3D platformers in general sell worse that 2D platformers. A 3D Yoshi would not do better than a 2D one, at least the first foray into 3D.

Yeah but Nintendo has mentioned a few times now, they (finally) realized the need to cater to all demographics. If they ended up just going back to what they normally do they may ultimately end up back to a Wii U situation which is no what they want. Diversifying their catalogue is important despite raw sales figures.

And I don't think it's unfair to say the first half of 2018 is weak if you already had a Wii U. 2nd half looks good, and potentially whats lining up for 2019 might be amazing.
