None of those hurdles had an impact on Kirby. It doesn't need to be the controls, it could be that the concept doesn't resonate with the audience or critics having a field day with their review scoring, or even the art style.
It's highly probably this game is built around flight. That this racing game isn't F-Zero is fucked up... They could have revived F-zero,
I'm just taking a wild guess but I doubt the game will end up as similar to F-Zero as seems to be implied. I do think it will be its own distinct kind of thing.
It's not as beloved as it should be because there hasn't been a game in 15 years. I'm pretty sure people had a similar feeling before Metroid or Starfox got revivals. Nintendo knows for a fact that they have one of the largest treasure troves of even mildly successful IPs, so even if they don't feel like it would be a good investment to use one of their internal teams to make a game, I can guarantee that there are other studios more than willing to work on the IP for them (probably while under some degree if supervision of course). You hate it when companies want to make money? Demand for it? I love F-Zero, but that IP is not beloved. It has a niche audience that loves it, but the games do not perform well at all.
Oh boy. Going to that lazy argument of "What a waste of a great studio now?"
It's highly probably this game is built around flight.
If that turns about to be true, why the hell would they bother reviving F-Zero with it's hovercrafts?
You all are assuming an awful lot thinking this one's gonna be like F-Zero.
Deus Ex guy apparently composed music for Retro, which would make sense for a game like this
but it's not like Wise is a stranger to Star Fox, so it wouldn't have been the craziest choice
you know that david wise worked on star fox games previously right
The ending in the original game was literally an F-Zero reference.I'm just taking a wild guess but I doubt the game will end up as similar to F-Zero as seems to be implied. I do think it will be its own distinct kind of thing.
Star Fox has literally always been all about the gimmicks since the very first game. What a dumb idea.
Nintendo really seem hellbent on not giving people a proper SF game again (That isn't ruined by gimmicky/shit controls like Zero and Command were.). If this is true, of course... hopefully it's bullshit.
Not saying that this means the game will necessarily be good, but didn't Metroid Prime have similar pre-launch murmurings of a trouble dev cycle and many worried about the state of the game?

James McCloud is dead at this point in the time line, but also shows up. At the end of the game you fight Andross.I do wonder where in the "timeline" star fox racing would take place. After command making the joke ending canon? After Assault where a lot of member are either old or dead? Or After Zero which is a bit of a reboot.
I guess it only really matters for the roster, hope it's not after command since that messed things up pretty hard.
If they had an idea for a starship racer why would they want to do F-Zero instead?what? I never said it would be like f-zero... i said that making retro studio working on a racing game that is not f-zero is bad! This has nothing to do with the style of the game here
I will wait and see but first impressions are "Why not F-Zero?" .
That doesn't mean this game will be F-Zero but with Arwings and furries. Also pretty sure that was Command. The ending in the original game was literally an F-Zero reference.
Yes, I understand different opinions on the game.I have nothing against their decision. I'm saying I would be dissapointed. That's me. I don't think it's a waste of talent.
Star Fox has literally always been all about the gimmicks since the very first game.
Or it plays absolutely nothing like F-Zero.Because the people at retro workedso much at DK that they became furries
Kind of like the Mario + Rabbids reveal? This needs to have the most incredible reveal ever because conceptually this sounds beyond fucking lame.
I really hate it when companies just sit on a beloved IP even though there is still demand for it. At that point, just let someone else work on it.
Fair enough, there's no reason to assume that this will have weird controls so you should be good there...hopefully! :PIt's mainly the control gimmicks in those two games (Touch screen, motion controls, etc) I'm complaining about. Gimmickry in the gameplay mechanics or whatever I can live with so long as I don't hate how the game feels to play.
The closest thing to numbers we have on demand for console star fox and f zero this decade is the mario kart dlc and star fox zero.
That would imply they working 2 games"These sources did not confirm whether the project being worked on was this Star Fox title."
We've heard the same from a source plugged into goings-on at Nintendo, and we've also heard from two other sources that the Austin, Texas-based Retro had a separate project that went through a rocky development cycle and may in fact be canceled. The person familiar with this Star Fox racing game confirmed many of the details that have been floating around the web today, on Reddit and 4chan and Eurogamer and many other places. Grand Prix is said to be a lot like Diddy Kong Racing in that, unlike Nintendo's other major racing series, Mario Kart, this game will have a story mode and boss battles.
