the quality of the game is irrelevant to most of the people disappointed. Most people are disappointed in the IP or genre. They're not saying it will be bad.Retro will never win with anyone.
Despite all the criticism of BOTH the DKR games that they are still solid developers?
Donkey Kong is a better property than Star Fox. Star Fox blew i's chance. But if the game is good than it was a good use of their time? This kind of mentality is what made the initial reception of Tropical Freeze so toxic, and that was one of the best games on the Wii U.
It seems you want them to make the game you want. Do you really think Retro would've worked upwards of 4 years on this (if true)? They were also the ones really pushing for a Donkey Kong revival but had to put it on hold due to MP3 Corruption. Retro's potential isn't wasted on games they want to make.
And lets not forget the steller work they did for MK7. And while people come and go, it's about the leadership and in that regard they have been strong and steady with the same leadership throughout most of their career. But we're not talking about 2002, we are probably talking about the awesome team that made Tropical Freeze
Because the Star Fox franchise is doing so well right now and nobody has been asking for an F-Zero game for the past decade.>"like Diddy Kong Racing mixed with F-Zero"
>Using Star Fox series/universe instead of one of those.
I mean, come on, if they gonna make a racer in the F-Zero style, why not use the F-Zero franchise?
Old Wii U ports and indie games are doing way better cuz people love the Switch. Nintendo knows it.yeah i mean you don't make financial decisions based on "our system is magic"
This may be looked at as a spin-off title but depending on how the racing mechanics work it could the best thing to happen to Star Fox in 21 years. They only peaked, because Nintendo never really made a proper sequel to Star Fox 64. Just about everything that came after has been an odd spin-off of some kind. Sure there is Star Fox Zero on the Wii-U, but that game was criticized its odd use of the gamepad. It was also on a console that had a hard time selling units. I kinda wish they could just make a proper sequel to Star Fox 64.
But whatever Retro is developing, I will be interested in.
This game will be a new IP with a star fox skinpeople are mad because retro are making a Star Fox game instead of a New IP?
Okay, this last bit was pretty damn clever.
StarFox has such an incredible identity crisis I wonder just why they keep the characters around anyway.
I'm not questioning the quality of the actual game if this thing turns out to be true. Pretty sure it will play and look great but god damn why use the worst Nintendo IP for this when they could have made a new F-Zero instead, wich is what most fans have been asking for years! Good thing is that this is just a rumor so I still have hopes this will turn out fake but yikes if true :(If they made FZero in this type of game I bet yall would kill them.
This isnt a carbon copy F Zero game. Let Retro work, damn
There's nothing to stop Retro putting characters from F-zero and Metroid in.I don't get it. Why not make a Nintendo all star racing with a wider variety of characters and worlds instead of restricting the game to the star fox universe?
We know 2 things of this game (or we we think that)God these reactions are embarrassing... Have you guys learned nothing from Mario + Rabbids? Judging games just by the concept is almost never a good idea; it just leads to a bunch of crappy hot takes that will be outdated in about 2 months. Unfortunately, judging by these reactions, it seems this game, if it is real, will end up in the Blindly Hated Club alongside Colour Splash and Federation Force.
the quality of the game is irrelevant to most of the people disappointed. Most people are disappointed in the IP or genre. They're not saying it will be bad.
I don't see why Retro can't just expand upon their version of DK and give us an all-new cast. At least that franchise has a history with kart racers. Star Fox has always been a shooter and, let's face it, it doesn't have anywhere near the same popularity and nostalgic appeal as DK does. I don't get the logic behind making it a kart racer.didn't most of the rights to what Diddy Kong Racing actually is go to Microsoft when they bought rare? Rebooting Diddy Kong Racing in the Star Fox world miyyght have been the only way to get the thing done with some brand recognition still. Also, can't wait for Diddy to be ublockable in this
It makes a lot of sense too. Nintendo/Retro probably started with the idea of a high-speed hover racer that would offer more variety and greater accessibility than F-Zero, so maybe different vehicle types, weaponry/powerups, and an adventure mode with bosses, etc. Then from there they asked which IP would suit this perfectly. And Star Fox, with its airborne/land/sea vehicles, weapons and powerups, potential transformations, epic bosses, and sense of adventure was the answer. All my favorite people loving this idea
THIS GAME IS GONNA' RULE
Well that is reassuring, not that I needed any reassuring because it's Retro. Hopefully it helps other people in threadIm retired and I'm definitely not making any comments about Retro Studios, but calm down, that's all I'm gonna say.
As much as I'd like to see Retro tackle a brand new IP I'm not sure what people would expect from it. I'm sure people would be disappointed in whatever that turned out to be too.people are mad because retro are making a Star Fox game instead of a New IP?
I think that's irrelevant if retro can make a great game out of it.the quality of the game is irrelevant to most of the people disappointed. Most people are disappointed in the IP or genre. They're not saying it will be bad.
Because StarFox has more brand recognition than F-Zero even after they keep fumbling the games over and over and over again.>"like Diddy Kong Racing mixed with F-Zero"
>Using Star Fox series/universe instead of one of those.
I mean, come on, if they gonna make a racer in the F-Zero style, why not use the F-Zero franchise?

Agreed. But why a racing game though? Why not use a genre that SF already took in the past? *cough* action adventure *cough*Onrail space shooting is a dead genre unless the budget is very low. A new genre for Star Fox is needed especially since he's a popular character in a very popular franchise Super Smash Bros. I still would like another Star Fox Adventures though.
Because the Star Fox franchise is doing so well right now and nobody has been asking for an F-Zero game for the past decade.
Glad someone quoted these. Miyamoto telling me about Pikmin 4 on multiple occasions is the perfect example of how games development changes over time.
Because MiamiWesker basically likes one type of game. It needs to be third person, linear (wide-linear at worst), and full of handcrafted moments.
