Hahahahahahaha, it's not realistic at ALL. It's arcadey as hell and has shit racing physics.

It's not even as good looking as people say it is or those bullshit photo mode screenshots pretend it is.
I think I may disagree with everything I see you post lol

Game is fantastic and my favorite arcade racer this gen. I put some much time into

I just play it offline. Fun gameplay, and the graphics are still just
Wow
I always make sure there's rain just for that extra visual goodness

I really don't like driving games.

Ended up racking several hours with it with the single player alone. It's amazing.

Sony didn't even bother with a Pro patch. A game that would have been a gfx showcase for the system. Left to die.

It's hard to recommend Driveclub when Forza Horizon 2 and 3 exist. They're unbelievable games, so good.

They are different types of racers on different platforms. Besides when it comes to actual racing I'll take DC over FH anyday and it's not even close. I had more fun locating and smashing xp boards in Forza than participating in race events. Horizon is a fun sandbox game but I found the races to be boring while DC races kept me on the edge of my seat.

If all you have is a PS4 then I would definitely say it's worth it. PS4 is really lacking in racing titles and Driveclub became a solid game after its post-launch updates.

Get Driveclub for the thrill of mastering a car and a course. Bought this years back and I still have it installed on my PS4 if I want to just play some music and focus on something. And there's so much content I still have yet to play that I'll probably have it installed on my PS4 forever at this point. Love this game to death.

One of my favourite racers ever, put loads of time into the single player alone. As others have said, the season pass is fantastic value and is on sale often. The bikes expansion is great too.

It can be a very satisfying game too, especially when you finally beat some of the later time trials than can be pretty difficult (looking at you Venom Hot Lap).

I disagree. Horizon is awesome but very VERY different. It's an open world style game. Driveclub is focused on crafted tracks instead.

For me, DC is still one of the best racing games of the last decade just in terms of the overall experience. The sense of speed, excellent handling, Hybrid soundtrack and beautiful visuals all work together to create something very memorable. If only there were a 60fps version of the game out there.

Horizon is great too but the open world aspect can be tedious sometimes when I'm just looking to master a track and race.

It was always free for Plus users with a lot of content... so download it an play a lot before you choose to but the full version.

The free version is pretty complete to be fair.

I bought it, I really liked it. The dynamic time of day and dynamic lighting are still unequaled anywhere, in my humble opinion.

That being said, I would have a hard time going back from Gran Turismo Sport. The drop from 60fps to 30fps is quite jarring at this point.

If you have PS+ download the free version, there's absolutely no reason not to.

P.S Driveclub VR is bad. I really wanted to like it but the image quality for distant objects is terrible and something about the display is incredibly nausea inducing. Avoid it.

It really is a special game, but not perfect. Its weather system is unparalleled, the track design is absolutely gorgeous, the sense of speed is incredible, it has a ton of single-player content, and the social functions are really well thought-out. But the driving model sits in a weird place between arcade and sim (not as fun to toss around as a pure arcade racer and not as satisfying from a sim POV as GT), the graphics engine just pushes the standard PS4 a bit too hard, with compromises in detail and 30fps. The positives far outweigh those negatives though, and I still fire it up to drive a few in the rain. I don't think any other driving game has given me the visceral sense of driving as DC does. It's such an evocative experience, especially in the cockpit view.

It's heartbreaking to know that we'll never get a DriveClub 2.

What's the best current gen arcade racing game available on PC/PS4/Xbox? (any platform, not all 3), thanks.

Driveclub has only gotten better with time.

I mean, as far as gameplay goes, it's a solid racer that's every bit as fun as it was on release.
Graphics are still at the top of the category.
Generous in content.
Dirt cheap.

Shitty handling, terrible as both sim and arcade.
Also a mixed bag if we're talking graphics, screenshots and those sunhi gifs might pull you in but that's not how it looks during gameplay.

lots of people here are praising the game without mentioning the difficulty. It is not a casual racing game. It is very hard to control, and while racing the AI truly has a "rubber-band" effect where they just zip by you out of nowhere. It's still a fun game to look at and play, but it's not an easy arcade like NFS where you can thrash around and still finish 1st place. This game rewards precision and penalizes even the slightest imperfections.

They made it a lot of that easier with the 'easy mode' they patched in. But other than that, yeah, it is like the 'Souls' of racers, lol.

The AI has no rubber banding at all. If you're behind they will drive worse, but the cars will not go any faster than their top speed to catch up.

As already stated, the game has no rubber-banding when you're in the lead, and you can win races just fine even when you're slightly cutting corners and ramming into opponents. The penalties for those were worse at launch, but they were later changed.

YEs .
Driveclub is amazing .. the single player content is SOLID ... The first chapter with the most boring cars and tracks is a problem but as soon as the gloves are off , the game is AMAZING

I would love a Pro patch for this game but I would love HDR even more, I think it would make this game look even more fantastic!

So I know the game got weather patched in a while after it was released. Did they also add weather to some the original racing events or are those stuck with sunny skies? Do I need the season pass to experience the weather stuff in SP (outside of time trials and stuff like that)?

And now I'm playing Driveclub again. God damn it.

EDIT: I'm getting 'There was a problem connecting with the DRIVECLUB server.' error. They didn't shut down the servers already did they?

You don't need a season pass for it, and you can set the weather as you like in single races and time trials. The events have fixed weather conditions, so all the pre-patch ones have clear weather.

I'd say so, it's still got a pretty decent online community going. The season pass alone doubles the content from the base game, and the bikes DLC (separate from the season pass) is just as good.

For the amount you can pick it all up for now it's a no brainer tbh. Beautiful looking game that you can just pick up and play even in short bursts. Only sour point is the FPS, but you soon forget about it when you're playing.
