Awesome. Way more interested in this, I know I'm weird but I don't like anime and the better graphics get the less interesting games get. For example, I had no in terest in Persona and Suikoden once they went to 3d graphics but the early games were some of my faves of all time.

Added this to OP, let me know if there's anymore info to add regarding getting the game via fangamer.

===

You still have time to buy the $28+ tier or higher via fangamer if you wanted to get the retro game for free. (Read everything below before clicking the link)

Link: https://fulfillment.fangamer.com/kindling/bloodstained

Once you proceed to the checkout, during the process it will ask you what versions of each game you want as in, which platform for Ritual of the Night and which platform for Curse of the Moon (retro game). Make your choices and pay, you will be emailed the confirmation of the order (check your junk mail folder), the email will confirm your choices, it will include the backer survey link if you wish to make any changes to your order.

Those that have already made their order, if you haven't made your choices in the backer survey before May 18th (time unknown), you will be given the Steam version of Curse of the Moon by default according to people in the thread here.

Neat. I'll be expecting a code for this on the Switch to show up soon then. Getting Ritual of The Night on Xbox.

Considering half the new posts in here think it looks better than the main game, I hope this is a substantial spin off

It probably would have saved them a lot of time and money if the kickstarter was for a game like this. I think people would have been completely happy.

What else does inti create do? Did they make that castlevania like game on steam? My brain broke, can't remember the name, but it was awesome, they made oniken too, same guys?

Inti's 8-bit stuff is pretty good, although I didn't love Mighty No. 9 Burst. This is releasing during a dry month for Switch games, so I will probably pick it up.

User Warned: lazy dev argument
It's a lazy low budget game.
I would have prefered a 16 bits instead, i wouldn't mind for a 2D castelvania kickstarter.

Dry month? I just got DKCTF (and is kicking my ass) and I'm planning to get Hyrule Warriors and Battle Chasers while other releases like Ikaruga and The Banner Saga look pretty tempting.

It's a spinoff of and in addition to their main title, backers are getting it for free and anybody can buy it for $10. And it looks great.

Some people will complain about anything.

And the 8-Bit style makes sense since this is heavily based on Castlevania 3. There's no point in going 16-Bit here.

I for one much prefer the 8 bit aesthetic.

Inti Creates made Mega Man Zero 1-4, Mega Man 9 and 10, Azure Striker Gunvolt, Mighty No. 9, Naruto Powerful Shippuden, lots of stuff, but no Castlevania-likes or Oniken.

For me, There's a gulf between DKCTF and Ys VIII of about 6 weeks with not much that I'm interested in. Dark Souls would have helped, but it got moved. Don't care about Musou or know much about Battle Chasers.

This fucking rules.
As a Classicvania fan, I could see myself enjoying this spin-off more than the main game.
I hope it is substantial enough.

The boss sprite art reminds me a *ton* of Shovel Knight's, stylistically. Did Yacht Club help on this?

Also, will the 3DS version actually be 3D?

Thanks for your lazy, low budget opinion.

I did not say it's a bad game, and it looks like a good 8 bit graphics, but i would have prefered the same game with 16 bits graphic.
It seems it's another budget to go 16 bits and lot more work.

16-bit graphics generally need more talents and resources, though, so it would've been at cost of the game's length if they went 16-bit.

At last, the true Castlevania successor appears! I've very little interest in Ritual of the Night, but I'm in on this one for sure.

No and no. Inti Creates are mostly known for the Megaman Zero games. They also made Megaman 9/10 and Gunvolt.

Might have to switch from my preorder of the game on Amazon over to backing this on Kickstarter than.......I prefer physical over digital but you arent getting the free game.

I just realized, what if Shovel Knight is in this? He's supposed to be in the main game, but I think that's because Inti is fond of the character.
That would actually be more fitting.

BTW, I'm REALLY loving the NeoNES look. I don't want to say that it's just 8-bit style because a lot of games that parade that around either take more inspiration from Atari, or do something within the 8-bit range that doesn't adhere to the visual look or restraints of either Atari or NES. For me, NeoNES are new games with the intent of recreating the NES look that might go over the limitations of the old NES (more colors, more uses of sound channels, no slow-downs or flickering), but still keeps the general look and sound of that era and restraint in keeping to this style (they don't step over by adding horrible digitized images like Double Dragon 4 or an better quality synth score like Axiom Verge). Shovel Knight, Blaster Master Zero, Oniken and Odallus all fit this style, as does Curse of the Moon. I love it.

And you're completely mistaken, it takes a LOT more work and more money to make something look 8-bit, and look good. They have to artificially limit themselves, try and make art look good with limited colors, smaller objects with fewer pixels. This is just a stylistic choice, it has nothing at all to do with budget.

Also note, just like Shovel Knight, this isn't really "8 bit", because it does many things that would have been purely impossible on any 8-bit game console. Particularly those boss fights with tons of large things flying around the screen.

really wish I knew if this was gonna perform well on switch, or if this was gonna be stuck in switch limbo due to "complications" in development.

Might go for ps4 version.

Great. I've been wanting a traditional Castlevania game for ages.

This game looks pretty awesome. It's always impressive to see such cool-looking bosses with such a small color palette, by the way. It really speaks to the talent of the sprite artists.

I didn't even know you could still back this game. Definitely getting the physical tier for vita as well as the digital version for the spin off

So I'm more interested in this than the actual Bloodstained game, but if I get the 28$ tier, does both come much cheaper ?

Except for the main game, because they were the cause it looks kinda bad
From what I understood Inti were the ones who stepped away from developing the main game, not the reverse. Their replacement (Dico) doesn't exactly have an impressive track record either, just mobile stuff, some ADV games and a Switch puzzler.

Absolutely yes, I don't see the final game releasing for less than $40 and it doesn't include the CotM (lol the acronym)

It's also a mess I know. But, well, it's Igarashi, if it wasn't a mess it wouldn't be his.
