I like all these cancellations coming together but I hate we don't get to live with the thread titles for very long.

Designated Survivor gone and no Wayward Sisters? This week gets worse. At least it gives slightly more hope to iZombie..?

Also, all of you in here saying Agents of Shield is good.. I tried watching it and it was awful. You're saying if I make it past the first few episodes it won't be a dumpster fire?

Not everything on Fox is specifically owned by Fox. Gotham is WB, for example, so Disney wouldn't get the rights to that.

LMS was produced by Fox even when it was on ABC. Part of the reason for the cancellation despite solid ratings was that they themselves weren't seeing as big of a cut.

ahhh ok. There is no official word on LMS yet, but it would make sense for FOX to just throw it on one of their networks instead of producing it and airing on another channel.

If you make it past the first season, and then the second season, and the third, appartantly you get a good fourth season. That or Stockholm syndrome.

The first half of S1 is rough, but once it finds its footing it has become easily the best network superhero show.

Correct.

That or Stockholm syndrome.

You're mistaking AoS with the Arrowverse shows.

Or Gotham.

All the iZombie fans join hands with me and we will sing in unison together.

I never did get around to watching that.

Episode 15 is where the show really kicks into gear. The problem with the first season was that their hands were tied. They had to kill time until after The Winter Soldier was released due to events in the film having a major impact on the show. Episode 15 is where those shackles were loosened.

iZombie might be in a spot of bother seeing as Malcolm Goodwin is starring, but more importantly directing an indie film. Something which he hasn't done during his run on iZombie afaik

I've been told to cool it with them for a while. And I will unless something major (e.g. Agents of SHIELD) happens, then the mods will just have to be annoyed by me.

Thanks!

And AoS is fun because of the characters, just like the MCU films. All of them have come a long way.
Gotham's characters are really enjoyable.
Gordon is the typical good cop for a lot of it but really works with all the vibrant characters around him.
Very few characters I just don't like at all, Gotham was good at making adjustments with fixing certain characters(Barbara) or unsalvageable secondary characters(Dent, Montoya) being quickly swept out by S2

Can I just skip to that point?

Even when being as kind and loving of the Marvel universe as someone could be, Agents of SHIELD has a terrible 17 first episodes and then coasts on Winter Soldier.

Nah it's fine when it's bingeable, and more than made up for it anyways.

Can I just skip to that point?

Nope. Current season has a lot of callbacks, so if you can't bother w/ all of the episodes, don't bother.

I wrote a post just last week for someone in your position. :)

It's just a great show in general. There's an argument to be made that it's the greatest live action comic show ever.

If you get a chance, the first four seasons are on Netflix and the fifth will be on there shortly after it ends (two episodes left) as per Disney/ABC's deal with them.

I'll just tell you (and anyone else interested) what I tell most people when I recommend the series:

Season 1: Very shaky first half, as the show has trouble finding its identity. Second half starts off good and becomes great when the Winter Soldier tie-in hits. And I should add, truthfully, every person who started watching AoS after I recommended it ended up saying something to me like, "I thought the first season was bad? I like it." It works better in a marathon and some of the early hate for it was overblown. The first half of the first season has some poor episodes but it's a show trying to find itself, as many genre shows go through in the beginning.

Season 2: Fantastic from start to finish. Great new characters introduced, including Mockingbird, two fan favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and Kyle MacLachlan as the amazing season-long villain. Fun little tie-in with Age of Ultron at the end.

Season 3: The first half continues the quality from season 2. The second half falters slightly but it's still quite good.

Season 4: They introduce Ghost Rider and manage to create the definitive live action version of the character. Season 4 manages to top season 2 and is one of the best pieces of media in the entire MCU. Honestly, I put this season of television up there alongside Winter Soldier, Black Panther and Infinity War. It's that damn good and has some amazing payoffs for longtime fans.

Season 5: A step down from season 4, which was to be expected but still great. It likely sits alongside season 2 for me but I'm waiting for the season to end in two weeks to have a final opinion. This is an insane season though.

Imagine if this is the year where networks finally get tired of comic book shows.

Lucifer, Gotham, iZombie, Agents of Shield.

Whiskey Cavalier and Grand Hotel picked up by ABC

Whiskey Cavalier

The series is described as a high-octane, thriller that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: "Whiskey Cavalier"), played by Foley. Following an emotional break-up, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca "Frankie" Trowbridge (codename: "Fiery Tribune"), played by Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics.

Grand Hotel

A bold, provocative drama set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi, and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel's loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior. The show is based on the Spanish series.

The series stars Demian Bichir as Santiago Mendoza, Roselyn Sanchez as Gigi Mendoza, Denyse Tontz as Alicia Mendoza, Bryan Craig as Javi Mendoza, Wendy Raquel Robinson as Mrs. P, Lincoln Younes as Danny, Shalim Ortiz as Mateo, Anne Winters as Ingrid, Chris Warren as Jason, Feliz Ramirez as Carolina and Justina Adorno as Yoli.

It must be really tough to try and start a new tv show, run for a few episodes and then get cancelled.

It's a hard fucking business.

Actors manage to do movies just fine while being on shows, and iZombie is only 13 episodes anymore so it is easy to combine.
He's directing it not just acting. Directing takes up more time. Like he could have a reduced role in a potential season 5 or he could work around the schedule, but it's not a good omen.
