It will have trash ratings and get cancelled after a season.

It makes NO sense.

They also literally have zero incentive to bring it back seeing as how Disney will own the show once the 20th Fox deal goes through. The only way it would make sense is if 20th Fox and Fox Broadcasting Company remained part of the same company (and even then...).

B99 and Last Man on Earth :(

I mean, last man on earth sort of ran its course, but I really wish they'd have not ended on a cliffhanger. I feel like that show would have worked better on netflix. Week to week always felt jarring.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine was the last real broadcast show I watched, after dropping Fresh Off the Boat and Black-ish after a couple years. I guess I do kinda watch Crazy Ex-Girlfriend with my girlfriend, and I do want to find time to try The Good Place, but broadcast is just dead to me.

They have a page for Last Man Standing on their official website now, so yeah, seems that's exactly what happened: https://www.fox.com/last-man-standing/

Lol what a joke :(
Ew.

I'm broken by the news of B99. If both Agents of SHIELD and iZombie also get cancelled I will actually self combust.

I hate when shows that have been running for a bit don't get farewell seasons.

Like even though Modern Family for example has fallen off I want it to get the same treatment The Middle is getting.
That's likely to happen with MF. I don't see how they go past the 10th season. It barely beats Goldbergs nowadays.

In all honesty, I'm fine with B99 and Last Man ending (though I was hoping for a farewell season the the later). The Mick's cancellation was a surprise. Even though I don't watch the show, I though Fox would at least keep one veteran comedy.

This sucks so hard. B99 is an outstanding show and this season has done such a great job tackling subjects outside of the normal realm of typical sitcoms and not really making a big deal about them this season.

I'll watch anything Mike Schur does (really hope Good Place keeps squeaking by until they end on their own terms) but this ensemble was great.

If anyone else is a big fan of Andre Braugher's performance I would urge you to watch Homicide: Life On The Streets because his performance as Detective Frank Pembleton is incredible and an interesting opposite of his performance in B99 (much darker realistic tone of a show)

I'll gladly second the Homicide rec and also put forward a recommendation for the under-appreciated Men of a Certain Age, which was a quietly brilliant comidrama that thankfully got two seasons. Awesome performances by Braugher, Ray Romano (who went on to put in terrific work on Parenthood) and Scott Baio. The show was created by Mike Royce who is the co-creator of One Day at Time. Just got into that show a couple months ago and loved it. Just like Men of a Certain Age, it mines a lot of humor and realistic drama from everyday situations not usually explored on TV.

... Wait, I never even realized that. Disney will own the show again, just as they did when they cancelled it.

lmao

Weird they would cancel Last Man on Earth right before syndication

What is it with comedies getting cancelled all the time? Especially with these three given that:
  • Brooklyn Nine Nine had A LOT of material they had left to cover.
  • Last Man on Earth ended on the biggest cliffhanger they've had yet.
  • The Mick was JUST getting real good.
This is honestly a terrible shame for comedy, I miss when this genre was more relevant in media.

Out of all three, I wonder how they'll go about Brooklyn Nine Nine. They said they have an ending ready in the event they got cancelled, but the show actually is really popular, I can imagine there are takers. I can see TBS picking it up, they've treated their shows with a lot of care.

Side note: Anyone know any good current comedy shows? I feel like there's The Last OG and....that's it.

How could you be fine with this?! It is still SO GOOD. There has been no drop off in quality and you could of course argue it has gotten better every year it's been on. This is a fucking tragedy.
Over 100 episodes and five seasons is a good run, especially for a Fox comedy. And closing things out on the wedding will be a good ending point.

With that said, this has Tim Allen's mark all over it.

I could see TBS taking it. Especially considering they got the syndication going right now

I just had a thought, Fox going all in on "Real America" comedies next season would be hilarious

Damn, I enjoyed 99 and LMOE. LMOE has kinda run it's course, but I would've liked to at least had some closure with the show. It ended on one big cliff hangar, and outside of maybe a future interview with Forte, I won't really know what was intended to happen. And this gives me fears that Fox is getting rid of the one show that they have with the name "Last Man", so they can replace it with a "Last Man" show that is complete and total garbage.

99 was still producing good laughs. Felt like the only true successor to Parks and The Office (Good Place is good, but feels very unique and dissimilar). It could've lasted another good 2-3 seasons.

I never got into Mick. Loved Dee from Sunny, but her as a drunken, rude nanny never seemed to interest me much. But I know a lot of people here loved that show, so my condolences to all of it's fans.

This season of Last Man on Earth has been absolutely amazing, just beautifully weird and yet emotionally resonant. Shove it up your butt, Beezelbub

I dunno, TBS has been big on original content lately.

Pretty much the same reason why cancelled shows have stopped getting picked up by Netflix and Hulu too.

At least TBS's original programming have all been great (Last OG, Search Party, Wrecked, American Dad), while the only thing Netflix or Hulu have put out in recent years that I looked is the latest season of Arrested Development.
