I skipped Generations on the 3DS because playing 4 on 3DS was super disappointing after 3U on Wii U. I'm in love with World and the QoL improvements make it difficult to want to go back to something like this.

But...I'm so in.

The mounting minigame is much simpler though you cannot do mounting attacks from slopes, only from ledges or, if you choose aerial style, your evasive roll allows you to springboard off of the monster to do aerial attacks that way.

This has separated online and offline quests like 3U

Yes, they are separated in MHXX/MHGU.

Can i play solo on the online side?(without the game getting ultra hard) It has been so long since 3G i cant remember : P

Honestly the best MonHun game. Has like 20x the amount of content as World and is based on the old system which arguably provides more challenge.

This 'port' is also 720p native handheld and 1080p docked. I wonder if they intend to add new monsters to raise the already ridiculous number this has!

EH... Still playing 4U and haven't played my copy of Gens 3DS yet. And still waiting for MHWorld to come out which I'll be playing with my friends.
Pretty late for this, Capcom. Might buy it if I can get it for $20 or less next year. Especially not getting it anytime soon since it's STILL 30 fps capped on Switch.

MHW players who just started on MH.

Please, if you see a monster you like on GU, beg the hell out of Capcom so they can introduce it to World, not on this forum, on twitter, or facebook, they are listening. They promised they will get most of the iconics on World so we might get Brachydios, Zinogre, Tigrex, Narga, Rajang, Barioth, Gigginox, Jhen Mohran, etc.

I just want the big four from Generations in World. And Shagaru Magala.

Why are people saying that this is too late or that it's redundant to get because of MHW? Maybe for you, but there's tons of Switch owners that don't have a PS4 or XBO. There's a big market for this and demand on Switch.

Anyways.... I'm prettyuch about to lose my whole social life with this game and I cannot wait.

Finally, I can play at work again without getting a bunch of weird looks when I plug my ps4 into the break room tv.

Overall, I love how MH in general has seen a resurgence. Ever since the World and XX/GenU got announced, it just seemed to introduced the fanboy wars and caused a split within the MH community. It's just stupid the two sides are fighting each other over petty things.

It should be great that MH is getting more popular, the fanboys make these threads unbearable.

It will be hard, but totally doable. Don't think of it as the crazy disparity of solo health to multiplayer health in world though. On average the difference between a solo quest and multiplayer quest in terms of health are about 50-70% more hp whereas in world the difference is somewhere around 120-160% more. There are some endgame intended monsters like hyper and deviants that are known for having lots of HP though, so those will probably be challenging to get used to for sure.

Cool.

Keeping my fingers crossed that G expansion will come soon (end of the year ?).

That's not truly fair to say, seeing as Generations is a "Best Of" title, and has G-Rank.

World is a good base, but it only lacks because prior games (4, 4U, Gen, GenU) were able to build on the "base" that Tri started. World is another soft-ish reboot, so we're back to how Tri was and how it seemed light compared to even its direct predecessor. That would begin to get fixed with an interesting G-Rank setup.

No, it's locked at 30fps, because the Switch version shares the same playerbase as the 3DS version for online play.

No idea how it's gonna work here now, though. Are non-JP players in a different server now?

Happy to hear the news! I'm really looking forward to playing a MH game on my Switch, missing out on XX wasn't fun.

5th gen is just getting started man

XX should buy us some time :p
I have to agree with Ladioss on this one, although i really enjoyed MHWorld, i was kinda shocked at the time it took me to get to the end of the game.

As example i got about 80 hours into 3 (ultimate) and i didnt really got deep into high rank if im honest. but my time with world was around 45 to 50 hours and i completed high rank with that. The lack of variety was noticeable to me, if you look at it World only has 4 areas(i know they are bigger).

Well there is also the fact that a lot of the assets had to be remade. Some of the monsters reuse some animations from the older games sure, but it's not like they could copy over assets wholesale from the previous MH game and just upres the texture resolution and call it a day.

Monster Hunter XX / Gen Ultimate has the luxury of having copied over and reused all the way back to MH3.

That is the reason why Monster Hunter XX has the content it has.

As you said MH World basically was wiping the slate clean somewhat because of being mainly targeted for PS4 / XB1 baseline and the expectations of fidelity and QoL changes, but hey some folks will convenient ignore the fact that XX had the luxury of being able to borrow from previous entries for it's breadth of content in comparison against World.

A 3DS late port that Japan disliked and they held hostage for Nintendo owners because of a newer game on literally all other platforms? They can keep it.

It will be kinda sad to see this crap doing well, but I guess this is the industry.

Not sure about returning to the old way of life without the new changes they made in MHW, but I'm sure I'll readjust quickly. I have to complete everything in the original Generations so I can transfer.

With all the releases that will come in July and the dates of many games that release later...

I don't see myself buying it, maybe if its $40 ($30 with GCU) if not... I'll buy it when it gets to that price.

Capcom didn't hurry to release it last year, so I'll not hurry to get it Day 1 either.

Fans are happy to have access to all titles in the series or at least most of them

Im thankful that the era of Japan only and console exclusives seems to be coming to an end

Thats the takeaway i hope people recognize going forward. Regardless of whether you prefer to old ways or the new

Would it be possible to play local or online with someone who has the Generations game on 3DS?

Could the non QOL changes from World effect the game negatively those who barely played the originals?

They should totally watch videos about the Japanese game before they blindly buy it. Plenty on YouTube so they won't find out how different some mechanics were after they bought it.

...huh. I literally just finally "finished" (faced one of every monster in the game) this with my group of friends via import copies like, 3 or 4 weeks ago. It's like they were waiting...

That said, cool that it's coming over even if the moment of buying a localized copy has already passed for me. At least now everyone gets to experience first-hand the awesomeness that is Valphalk!

Keep in mind the game had already released on 3DS the year prior, so its not surprising the port to the brand new console that had extreme stock shortages in Japan didn't sell big numbers. Capcom said it met their sales goals iirc.

Same could be said for the West, we got MHG for the 3DS just last year.

You can but monsters are buffed up for four players. Styles actually make Gen a lot easier to solo than 3 or 4 were though imo.
I know base Generations/X had hub sclaed for closer to 2 players and it feels like it since I'm playing it right now. I'd assume Generations Ultimate/XX would keep this level of scaling for g rank?
