I'm not really surprised Destiny 2 has so many issues, I feel gamers are responsible for this. I felt like they voted for this with their wallet.

Destiny 1 launched and faced some fierce criticism for it's many lies. In fact, the back of the UK box claims that the game has "cinematic story telling" but we all know the reality about that game's story. Then apparently there were DLC files on disc, I don't know if that turned out to be true in the end. Then there was the fact that the first DLC content was lackluster, microtransactions were added, the game was light on content and you just kept grinding the same tiny pool of strikes over and over.

However, it was popular. People loved it and threw their money at it. What message do you think that sent to Activision and Bungie?

I dont understand why anyone still plays this pos.. I completed it and I havent ever played anything as meh as Destiny.
It's pretty fun. Shooting's great. And the co-op ranges between just vegging out with friends to something more srs bsns with the raid, so I've had a lot of fun with it. New raid lair opens up tomorrow, I've got new weapons to try out, more light levels to chase for, new exotics to discover. I've played Warframe for a bit, but the game's F2Pness kind of comes forth in a way that makes it hard for me to enjoy the game, and Division was great when I played it, but the way it was structured had me playing it more solo than anything. So that's why I'm still playing Destiny.

MS would bite their hand off for the 30 day exclusive CoD maps and marketing again.

I'm pretty sure that Sony holds the COD contract right now and presumably for the first two years of the ninth generation, I doubt MS would be biting anything.

The only way I could see a MS and Activision partner up again, is if Activision is releasing a new IP and the contract price isn't ridiculously high.

Don't get me wrong, I do believer they will partner up again. I just don't think they would do it this generation when COD's userbase is clearly with PlayStation.

Yeah, Sony have it tied up now, doesn't mean they always will and MS would bite their hand off if given the chance (I doubt Sony will give them one personally). CoD almost definitely makes Xbox more money than 99% of the games on the system, hurt feelings would quickly be gotten over, if it was their deal again. Like how Sony snapped it up this gen and somewhat recently took FIFA exclusive marketing back, despite it being with zero benefits like XB1 was getting (exclusive access to Legend cards).

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I don't doubt MS would love to have the COD contract back, but Destiny is probably poison at the moment unless the deal is financially worth it to them.

Why is this surprising enough to make a thread about? Its standard now, stop whinging about it and dont play it if it bothers you.

This wont be fixed until Destiny's engine is fixed. We shouldnt expect them to add content to the game when they have such a hard time doing it.

I do agree for the most part there, I can see Destiny just being a FIFA situation where it'd just be marketing, instead of how BS it is at the moment, should it change hands/be renegotiated. I can't imagine how much Sony spent for it and I doubt either will be willing to pay whatever it cost to tied that type of deal down again as the unreal hype for D1 will never be there again to really make it worthwhile. I doubt Bungie would want to agree to it either, as they seem to struggle with keeping up and they get all the blowback.

I'm also in agreement. Do you think that Sony will have the advantage when the Destiny contracts are up for renegotiation? I can't imagine them paying the same amount their are now.

Based on reporting from Jason, their engine and tools seem to be very unwieldy and slow in production, one reason being the (admittedly amazing looking) pre-baked lighting. Not sure if it is true, but it would certainly explain a lot of recurring troubles the game has. Also makes me feel pretty bad for the devs, who have to constantly deliver under difficult circumstances.

I thought the entire point of Destiny 2 is to get all users on their new engine that was FAR, FAR easier to create a wealth of content on co pared to Destiny 1. I'm still waiting for them to prove it. Otherwise, why didn't they just keep releasing DLC for Destiny 1?

It seems like they're trying to make COD money on new retail releases while making WoW money on DLC, without providing the full experience of either item.

Wouldn't be surprised either way, Sony probably have it for the first 3, so unlikely D4 would be early in a systems life cycle, so Sony mightn't be as ruthless with tying it down, letting MS get in, Activision will just go with the highest bidder.

As much of a mega Destiny fan I am, yeah...the Warmind campaign was laughably poor. I'm not even mad. I just laugh.

The end game is what really matters and keeps people playing anyway. That's what garners long term investment.

Parkour in WarFrame is some great shit. The melee and abilities are all fun and powerful so people don't have to focus only on shooting.

Destiny 2 players have been asking these kind of improvements for months.
Seriously, as good as the shooting feels in Destiny, it's basically all you do, especially since abilities are on long cooldowns and are a bit lacking, and missions/strikes are just, to copy Yahtzee, "go to place and shoot the lads" until there are literally no more lads to shoot at a given location before you're allowed to move on. Warframe gives you different weapon types and melee weapons that aren't limited use and actually have entire movelists, exceptional parkour movement, abilities that are varied, can be used much more regularly and make you feel like a god without making higher-level missions too easy, and mission types where you don't have to shoot anything (rescue and spy missions, which are basically stealth missions that force you to complete your objective within a time limit if the alarms are triggered), or missions where you actually have to claim and defend objectives from incoming enemies (such as defending a single static objective from being destroyed, escorting a mobile vehicle or defectors to an extraction point, defending excavators while keeping them refuelled, a zone-defense mission type similar to Control in the Crucible, etc). Only raids in Destiny provide any kind of meaningful variety in terms of objectives and how to complete them, which is a problem in itself since not everyone has the time or dedication for that.

I mean, fuck, Warframe has fishing now. And it's fun. Why the hell can't I hang out in the EDZ with my mates by the water catching fish while occasionally shooting Fallen or Cabal trying to ruin our fun? Come on, Bungie. (I'm serious, fishing in D2 would be dope as fuck and make sense since Guardians are, well, Guardians.)

Warframe does have its issues, absolutely, but it's an enormously improved game from where it's started. Unlike Bungie, Digital Extremes' community interaction is absolutely stellar and aren't afraid to completely overhaul parts of the game that don't work - the UI is the latest part that's getting an overhaul for the better, for example.

Lol Bungie and Activision. Eat shit you greedy fucking pigs. Can't believe this IP got so bad. Destiny 2's entire existence should've been expansions.

Since they have such an apparently shitty in-house engine to develop on, they should've had some people fixing that. This sounds like super-rushed content.

But who is playing through story missions at end game either way? The pve player economy revolves around strikes and raids - presumably (beyond special events) you'd only ever replay a story mission if you thought it was cool or really needed to mix things up.

Playing them with modifiers was fun. You don't play strikes at end game either, aside from 1 strike that rotates weekly.

Totally worth the warning in my honest opinion, so many people, especially Destiny 1 fans, want to say the exact same thing but are too afraid to do so on ERA.

THANK YOU
