Anyone made the move from a Slim to and OLED and wish they hadn't? Still got my Slim and play it occasionally but always hearing about how much people love the OLED version. If it's been a good move for most I might look at selling my Slim and trying to get hold of an OLED cheap.

Why in the world would you give up all the Slim's benefits just for the one benefit of the Phat? No way. I could never go back. That one benefit btw, is really questionable at best. Oversaturated colors and the Mura blotches which get worse over time. (There was a thread on GAF about this once.)

Aside from that, it's been what, almost 6 years since phat launched? The batteries are getting old, the screens are getting old. The OLED tech in Vita at the time was pretty young. For reference it wasn't until 2016 that LG started promising 100k hours lifespan for their OLED. Back in 2011 you're probably looking at 20-30k hours at best, maybe even less! And in that time the further along it gets the more the screens color luminance fades.

Like I said, would never go back. NEVAH. :p

For me to buy a second Vita, it would have to be MERCURYDUO version and I don't have that kind of money to spend at the moment. I already have the pink and black one but I really want the little bag it comes with.

On a different topic, anyone have any idea how often do the Atelier titles go on sale? I have a few left to buy.

Well that's gonna depend on the region of your PSN account. Usually the Atelier titles are on sale whenever there is a Japan/Anime themed sale going on. Randomly they get shoved into Flash sales as well. If your PSN is NA region, it might be worth waiting for whatever deals Sony puts up for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Beyond that maybe hold out hope for Tecmo to do a publisher sale? Recently publisher sales were Ubisoft, NISA, and Warner Bros.

They will for sure be on sale during next years Golden Week sale. That's a while off though lol.

Edit: Physical copies though? I have no idea tbh. Store by store basis I would imagine if you can even find physical these days.

Nah, the Slim is better in pretty much every way. I kept my OLED for a while for collection purposes, but eventually sold it as I wasn't going to ever use it again. The Slim has better battery life, better form factor, the internal memory is nice, and the screen is nice for an LCD. Plus it charged by micro usb. Just a huge upgrade across the board.

Thanks. I have to get Meruru to finish the Arland Trilogy and get the Dusk trilogy. I was going to buy Sophie on Vita but ended up getting it on Steam instead.

Replaying 999 and getting trophies for it was one of the highlights of the year for me. Though I must say the lack of a second screen really dampens a certain gimmick towards the end.

God I wish I could forget ZTD happened. =_=

I really enjoyed Sega Rally Revo on PSP. It seems to be unavailable for Vita. Now I am thinking about emulation. Is there a PSP emulation thread yet? I hardly know much about emulation.

Supporting Europe for games doesn't seem to be worth the work or PEGI price. I'm just gonna put that out there. Y'all are too busy buying PC simulation games and Creative Assembly stuff.

I get a lot of requests for European releases, but when we did one none of you showed up to buy.
It's a PS4 _and_ Vita game with cross buy and under 10 euros and no one showed up to buy it. Totally shocked.

Really sorry to hear that, I knew you were working on it but I had no idea it even released until the other day myself.
Can't believe Sony still doesn't support IARC ratings.

PEGI is quite expensive. I cannot afford it for a while. EU users need to buy more games if they would like future support.

This is really our first time out, so we are still learning how to do marketing and everything. I made a lot of assumptions about how things would go on console to be totally honest!

Wouldn't be an issue if it was free like digital-only ESRB or Brazilian rating

Finally getting back to TxK. I'll absolutely finish it this time! Pity about how glitchy the game can be - I could swear I got up to level 70 (or there abouts) yet the newest level i had to play was 53, and I had next to no lives either which isn't right. Replayed up to that point and I've now got a full compliment of lives, not going to shut off the game until I see the end credits this time...
Amazing game though, killer soundtrack and some lightning fast gameplay with interesting level design.

It doesn't save until you go back to the main menu iirc. Huge oversight.

I wouldn't base Eu purchasing habits on the performance of Factotum 90 which no one has ever heard of, but maybe that's just me.

Out of interest, have purchases of PS4 version been much better?

In other news, Caligula Effect is getting two new announcements on the 19th:

https://gematsu.com/2017/11/caligula-effect-series-two-big-news-reveals-presentation-set-november-17

So I'm guessing PS4 remaster and sequel? The latter of which may possibly be for Vita.

Edit: I had meant to quote Ouren but things completely ballsed up on my phone

I can see a remaster plus a sequel in the work. I don't see why the current game can't get patched though.

It's crossbuy. Hearing EU players ask to be supported and then not showing up to give that support back is a little frustrating.

I know. We've seen other cross-buy games where the dev has revealed how much PS4 has sold compared to Vita though, so I assume there's some way to measure it:

https://twitter.com/RatalaikaGames/status/927976808540196865

So was just wondering about that.

And hey, I bought it despite the fact I intend to buy the LRG release. Which I wonder if that had a hand it in, since people would rather wait for the physical.

The micro USB support makes the Slim the best version IMO.

I actually dug out my Vita today and spent the following half hour looking for the damned proprietary cable. Since everything uses micro USB now the Slim will be the most future proof since cables do break.

Just in time for VA-11 HALL-A as well! I've been looking forward to that game for quite a while.

Sony was using their own cables too? Jeez. They were being greedy.

Everything accessory wise around the Vita was and still arguably is a mess. I'm convinced that's part of the reason it died in the West.

"Here's a great piece of kit, but sorry- it doesn't support your existing chargers and memory formats!"

Meanwhile, Nintendo used micro SD cards like everyone else and then proceeded to drop game after game in 2013. Android gaming got decent around that time as well.

I await the book about the handheld to mobile transition. The story of course is still being written with the Switch, but I'd love to see insight from everyone involved in Nintendo/Sony from 2011-2014. I'd especially like to hear from the folks at Guerrilla Cambridge, who got screwed most of all.

(Killzone and RIGS are still utterly fantastic)

Never mind the failure of the PlayStation TV, when everyone and their mother was releasing set top boxes. It takes a special kind of stupid to mess that up. The same kind of stupid that doesn't secure your basic video streaming apps for your set top box.

Apologies. I've been digging through old hardware and saw my PSP Go, PS TV, and of course my Vita, which got me reminiscing. I got my Vita senior year of high school, and now I'm post grad and still using it. Hell of a life.

What is strange is that they realized they needed to change over to Micro USB, but still held on to the logic of proprietary memory card. It is like, they just couldn't let go completely.

Got a ps Vita TV the other day for 20 bucks. How usable are these things these days?

Haven't plugged in to play yet and I need to check my boxes of gaming stuff for a PS3 controller.

I'm guessing 365games.co.uk or BazaarBazaar will be the place to go for Nonary Games PEGI?
Yeah, that'd be my guess. I'll be keeping an eye out for pre orders for sure on 365 since they are usually my go to store for Vita stuff these days.

Also, gameplay wise I finally cleared TxK. Took me long enough! Loved it, the last few levels were pretty tough in places, glad I took the approach to hoard my lives for the first 90 stages so I could relax a bit on the last 10 (and thanks to those unkillable cannons I did die more than usual!)

Huh. Stopped getting notifications for this thread and thought it was dead but much like the vita it's still going.

I don't think there's a dedicated vita modding thread here yet though there really needs to be.
Depending on what firmware you're running emulation might not be possible. Are you above 3.60?

I've also been meaning to play danganronpa reload for a while now, are there any reasons to pick up the vita version over the ps4?

Portability? If you don't care for that go with the cheaper route, I guess - at least on US PSN the PS4 bundle is cheaper than both Vita versions together. Vita's games are older, so it might be different on retail.
I find it super weird to play a VN on a home console (or even PC nowadays), but that's me.

Looks like Velocity 2X got pushed back again to Jan. 23rd? I wonder if that or Axiom Verge will ever come out.
