the fact that so many games full fighting games are in one package is honestly unheard of collection wise

Not really.

Alpha Anthology, SFII Collection, SF15th, 25th... It isn't the first time they've done this and it won't be the last. It's just at this point it'd be nice to get the truly beefy collection and not just the vanilla arcade port (Alpha 3).

It's still a good collection, but complaints aren't coming from nowhere.

Oh yeah, the Alpha Anthology isn't arcade perfect. It has the strange speed/input issues that existed in SF Anniversary / CvS2's ports. The games are much faster than their arcade counterparts

I hope they fix Alpha 3's arcade mode so you don't have to start over after losing to Bison. Just what were they thinking?

Is it confirmed all the games are on the Switch cartridge or is download required?

They lost a whole lot of money from CPS3 development so a lot of late CPS2/Naomi board games had some grimey shit with their AI balancing to convince people to keep playing

Wow, that's crazy...had no idea. Was always baffled by that Bison fight only giving you one shot, had no idea that type of design spread to other games out of 'necessity'

Is akuma already unlocked?
And is sodom still sodom or katanna?
Uh Sodom's name was unchanged in any of the SF Zero/Alpha games. It is unknown at this point if codes still need to be input to access secret characters, but I expect they'll just have them unlocked and just require you to move the cursor to their location to unveil their portriats and select them.
Fun fact: X-ISM Sodom replaces his weapons with Katanas

Is the Saturn version of SF Zero 3 (Alpha 3) still going to be the best after this collection releases?

Yes.

I'm going to be skipping this game since there won't console versions in them. It would have been nice if I can own all the games on one console. Looks like my Sega Saturn will have to stay out then for Alpha, Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 and my 360 for Street Fighter 3 Online.

So since this is the arcade version, I suppose that you need to press 2 punch/2 kicks in Alpha 2 for alternate colors?

That's a bummer if so

I wouldn't be surprised if they announced an expansion/DLC SF Ann. collection vol. 2 with the remaining games.

Depends on who you ask.

If you ask pros: no, Saturn Zero 3 was never the best one. The arcade one was, for which we previously had a good approximation in the Alpha Anthology for PS2. So the best version was between that, emulated stuff, or of course the original CPS-2 board.

If you ask casuals: yes, Saturn Zero 3 was the best version, and will remain so even after this latest collection is released.

I'm definitely going to get this but it seems so lazy by Capcom to not put in the best version of Alpha 3, which is my favorite in the series. Will be getting this mostly for Next Generation and Double Impact. Love the stages on those games.

What remaining games are there? USFIV and SFV are already on Steam and current-gen-exclusive to PS4, the EX games aren't happening since Arika has Fighting EX Layer coming out soon...it'd pretty much be Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 Upper.

None of those collections have anywhere near as many games as these. Which was my point

These are arcade perfect releases. none of the console versions are arcade perfect

Alpha 3 was created specifically out of CPS3 games being expensive and unpopular.

Ha wow, a FFX-2 situation of sorts. Alpha 3 turned out lovely (on a casual-non tourney level anyway) all things considered. Not sure how true this is, but I remember reading that after the various II releases, the PS1 SFA3 was the best selling console SF until IV.

Can someone tell me, which game is gonna be the most balanced and best for online rank.and tournaments.

None of the games included are particularly well balanced. It's only with SFIV that Capcom got serious about balance.

That said, Super SF2 Turbo (ST) and SF3 3rd Strike (3S) are the most popular tournament games in this collection. (Only four games are online enabled: ST, 3S, SF2 HF, and SFA3.)

You are correct, at least in America, SFA3 on PS1 sold over 300k copies, nearly 3 times what 1 and 2 sold

HF getting online mode while A2 doesn't will still be one of the most baffling decisions ever.

Still day one, can't wait for this.

Hyper Fighting has it's own little following. Hell, some people prefer it to Super Turbo.

That said, if they were willing to accommodate fans of both HF and ST, it would've been nice to see the same for Alpha 2 & 3, too.

Wouldn't the worst news be there was no versus and training?

But we've known about these features for at least two months now... and yet they couldn't get them on the disc?! How?! I'd rather have them delay the game by a month, at least the physical release. What's the point of releasing "definitive" collections that don't have all content on disc and need a bunch of patch work day one? Did they not learn anything from MMLC?

Probably because the disks were done and ordered months ago and they went post actual development time to add this in when the community reacted so strongly to there not being one. Re-printing all the disks just so they can include training doesn't make sense business wise. The patch for this can't be THAT big in general this games size shouldn't be insane.

Great to finally hear more news about this collection. Pretty poor selection of pictures to show off the new stuff imo. The 3 2nd Impact pics are just random shots.
Also their description is pretty vague.

These aren't even all the options available! Each of the four games also has its own additional training options that work within the gameplay mechanics introduced in the respective series.
What does that even mean? Only thing I could think of is a parry training option for SF3 but I doubt that's what it is.

I can't decide between Switch and Pc. You'd think there's not any performance difference but SDV and Sonic Mania have drops. Plus the terrible joycons for fighting games. But portable.
