If you can sign into the same account multiple times that's news to me. Either way, I can confirm that my brother's account that he signed into on my Switch is a different account from my own.

I made a second profile for myself for a second save file in Zelda and it's only tied to the same account as my primary profile.

This shit is confusing as hell though.

Which aspect of this service is complex enough that it had to be delayed? It's also annoying that they're still withholding details of what the service fully entails

Family plan ftw. Totally cool of them to offer that.

All my friends who have Switches but aren't hardcore gaming enthusiasts: Blowing up my phone with, "$20 a year for 20 online NES games and more shit? Where do I pay?"

Era: Blowing up the forum with, "$1.66 a month for 20 NES games and more shit? Nintendo is dead, I'm burning my Switch as I type."

If nintendo hosts the online for the games then they are required to pay for online. The Pokemon games uses nintendos servers for online.....so yes you will be paying to play Pokemon online

Hmm, interesting I hadn't thought of that.

Another generation of slowly trickling out classic games. Oy vey

What's the surprise? People are content with Nintendo rereleasing games from the damn previous console with little or no improvements, this move should come as rather obvious. But hey subscription services to not own anything you pay for are good, or so they say, so yeah.

Pokemon is so getting 5-10$ paywall I can see it from here though lol

Well, Pokémon Bank is already $5 a year, isn't it?

Seems barebone, but honestly it's just $20. Sounds good to me for what you're getting
or as low as $4 something if you have 7 friends with switches.

This online service was delayed for more than a full year. In that extra year, they managed to get together Mario 3 and a bunch of NES games so small, so simple, that more advanced versions of them were bundled in GBA games for free almost 20 years ago.

You think that company is gonna turn around and suddenly add large amounts of games to the service in regular intervals?

But, But, BOTW, SMO, Metroid, Pokemon, Smash!

Are you seriously gonna pass on 2.99 a month in order to play online smash!?
No sir, you will pony up and like it!

The app still being the method of voice chat is really, really disappointing, but not unexpected, I guess.

I'd say the same for the (apparent?) death of VC, but the writing's been on the wall there for a good long while.

Hopefully the online service itself at least functions well on a game to game basis.

With Smash coming out and games like Mario Kart and Splatoon. This service is going to pick up steam fast when it launches.

yeah, if this launches at the same time as Smash Bros., it's going to be a massive success for Nintendo.

heck, it'll be a big win for them regardless. A lot of casual Switch owners are gonna' sign up just for the online NES games. Switch is hugely appealing to older / lapsed players

exactly why is splittng the cost of Switch online a factor when you could just as well split the cost of A PSN/XBL sub amongst multiple users as well?

pretty sure there is no limit to how many people can have an account on a home console either.

Edit:- 16 accounts on one PS4.
You can split the cost on the same PS4.

On Switch, you can split the cost with as many consoles as you want (already confirmed). Meaning you can split the cost with 7 friends, each one with a different Switch.

4.30€ per year, each person with their own console. It's absolutely insane.

I'm pretty stoked to play games like SMB3 and DKC on the go without a laptop. Wait until SNES games are announced and the online fee is a pittance

Trust me. Paying $20 a year was never going to be an issue for the overwhelmingly majority.

Not having integrated voice, and having to use the app. Nintendo. Come on.

That being said not as bad as I expected. But still, very little reason for me and most people I know on Switch. To actually purchase it. I don't see the value incentive here at all.

This is a service that:

1) By existing will gate off access to online features in games edging on 1.5 years old, that will have been free up until that point.
2) Provides access to cloud saves, functionality free on most other platforms.
3) Provides access to voice chat functionality... via a smart phone, which itself already provides access to functionally identical, free voice chat services.
4) Provides access to... the same NES games we've all gotten how many times?

The complaining about the family plan when it's still literally half the price the competition asks for lmao...

I need an actual family plan. I'm not trying to get a cheap deal or game the system.

I'm a guy with a family with multiple devices in our house for everything. I'd love to get a 2nd Switch, but I don't want to have to rebuy all our shit multiple times. Normally I just buy physical for say the 3ds so we can all share games.

I haven't bought a 2nd Switch yet cause I'm not gonna rebuy all the indies or dlc on a 2nd system. The family plan gives the kids and I cloud saves, but that doesn't really help if we can't have multiple systems in our house.

I always feel like I'm talking to the clouds though on the internet as most people aren't people with families in my situation. I also feel like the devs and the people in charge for all this shit aren't either. All a bunch of single peeps who don't even think any of this shit out till years after the fact.

At least make a NES / SNES Classic cartridge / digital download to have some way to play other classics on the Switch. :^(

Cloud Saves are well-appreciated, of course.

or Smash or Pokemon or ARMS or Rocket League or any third party games with online...

I'm very curious how you attach accounts to the family plan then. I guess you buy the family option on one account and then you have a menu where you type in other accounts that should get the benefit of family sharing?
