You guys have a suggestion for an iPhone X screen protector that is "semi" anti-glare?
Reflections should be reduced (but not totally) without affecting the sharpness/resolution of the screen as much as a normal anti-glare film would.

I tried a normal TATE GUARD anti-glare protector that got rid of all reflections, but as a result the screen really looked like I was looking at a SD resolution, so I would need something in between.
My iPhone 6 anti-glare film from Power Support actually did a good job of being "semi" anti glare. Unfortunately their iPhone X protector seems to be crap as it doesn't cover the screen completely, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Unfortunately my old iPhone 6 started to freak out this weekend and looks like I'm going to have to replace it. Been going back and forth between the X and 8 plus. I've scanned the thread and seems like everyone is pretty satisfied with the X. Besides the notch which some people hate any major issues with the X? Most reviews seem to say the X and 8 plus are around the same performance and battery wise.

I've had a 6 plus before so I have no doubt I could easily go to an 8 plus and be happy. Trying to see if I'd be happy with the jump to the X.

Edit* how's gaming on the X? Does that notch cause an issue or have most games fixed that?

Well, if you read the last page, then it should be obvious that not everyone is happy with Face ID, so try yourself if you can get used to or if you would rather "play it safe" and go the 8 plus route with Touch ID. The X not having a Home button anymore doesn't seem to be a problem though. Unlike the Face ID/Touch ID debate there's no real disadvantage and you quickly get used to it.

Yeah going to look at them in person before I make the final choice. Thought most people were saying the Face ID worked well but I'll go back and reread the last few pages.

I have read from reviews that Touch ID is faster when it comes to unlocking and using it than Face ID.

Having still an S0, now I'm going to be undecided between one of the cheaper versions of this or finding a deal on my dreamy ceramic white from an older series.

Same position I am in at the moment.
S0 stainless steel. Battery life was starting to get a little rough but the recent update has really helped actually.
But I am of two minds of which watch to get next. I will still want to get one of the more expensive ones, the stainless steel has worn really nicely and my screen is perfect after 2+ years of wearing it for all occasions, including work, which sometimes leads to it getting banged about a bit but you wouldn't tell by looking at it.

^I think there is a dedicated thread in light of this video.
Go ahead! I was considering it but I was hoping he went more into notifications and their effects on us in general. That part was rather brief and it just became "android notifications are better than iphones" which I think everyone knows. Well, not sure of how known it is amongst more people who only use iOS, but the sentiment online is common.

I just jumped to this from a Note 8. I think overall I prefer the Note 8 but iMessage and the camera are so powerful that I'm willing to give it a shot.

I hate FaceID though, it needs to hit my face at a certain angle to work and it just won't work with glasses for me.

I wear glasses too and it works just fine for me. But you could try disabling the "Require Attention for Face ID" feature in the Face ID settings.

I think I read somewhere that Apple has stopped ordering iPhone X parts from their suppliers and production has halted. We know a new model phone is coming, but I read this happened weeks ago.

It works fine with me and I wear glasses too. The problem is when I'm not wearing glasses (like when I'm lying in bed), doesn't do very well then. I have to keep the phone at a certain distance and really concentrate for it to unlock then.

I was hoping to make my 6 Plus last till fall, but the touchscreen starting giving out, so I got an X last week. Very happy with it so far; the Face ID works great for me, no complaints there.

Anyone having an issue where subtitles are turning on? Then you turn them "on" in settings and it turns them off?

Hidden pictures in the Photos app just go into an album called "hidden" and hides them from the Moments tab. They're still visible in "all pictures" however (I believe) and there's no lock on the album so you or anyone else with access to the phone can open it whenever you like. It's hidden in like the most flimsy way possible

Pleasantly surprised that Face ID recognizes me with sunglasses on, now that the weather is better. I do normally wear glasses, so I assume that has a part to play.

Still fighting with the idea of going caseless, but still using an apple leather case.

I switched from the leather case to the thanotech k11 bumper. Surprisingly great protection and I get to see that sexy back glass

Since a week or so, there's a small delay whenever I use 3D Touch on the homescreen. Within apps, and in the Notification Center, it still works instantly. Rebooting the phone didn't fix it.

Fastest way to troubleshoot:

1. Forced reboot: press volume up (and release), press volume down (and release), then hold the side button.

...if that doesn't help...

2. Backup to iCloud
3. Erase all Content and Settings (this will wipe your phone to factory default)
4. Restore from iCloud upon restart

...if that doesn't help...

5. Erase again, but this time don't restore.

That's the Apple Store script. It sounds crazy but wiping your phone fixes a surprising number of issues. They pretty much will make you go through these steps before doing a repair or replace.

Actually I think this might have been introduced in a recent software update. I compared it on my 8 Plus and there is definitely a minute but noticeable delay with 3D Touch on homescreen icons in comparison to Notification Center icons. Can't tell whether this has always been the case though, i don't use it often enough on the homescreen to notice it

Now that it is getting more sunny.

Anyone else noticing that FaceID is very unreliable in direct sunlight? I have to move into the shade for it to work.

Yup. If the sun is in front of me, FaceID unlocking will either not work or is so slow its faster to enter enter the PIN.

Another little iPhone X quirk I've noticed is people accidentally turning their flashlight on. Seen a couple people obliviously holding the X to their face with it on and I did it the other day while texting and it was too bright to notice.

My significant other needs a new phone and we are looking at the X or 8. Verizon is also doing a pretty good deal where we can get another 8 free or an X for like 300, before we trade in our other phones.

Is the X really good? I use my phone a good amount and I'm getting by on my 7.

Yes, yes it is.

I had to go to an old 6S for a week when I had to get the screen repaired and just the difference in quality of the screen makes it so worth it.
Thanks for the replies. Hmm I'm leaning more into getting it.

I remember there was a thread with a user saying how they no longer uses their tablet because of their X. Do you believe that the X could serve as a reader of some sort?

Personally, no I don't like to read on such a small screen. I've been reading on iPad's since the first one came out and I don't think I could go any smaller than a 8" tablet for reading.

Is it doable if no other option exists, sure. But it will never be preferable imo. But that's very much a personal question. Some people think phablets (and the X's screen definitely falls in that category even though the form factor does not) are a tablet replacement, but I personally don't.

There have been times when I would appreciate having a wider screen, such as when watching videos or working on spreadsheets. Otherwise, the X is an amazing piece of tech that can take the place of tablets if you choose to.

Face ID suddenly stopped working for me.

I tried to reconfigure but the camera wouldn't recognize my face. It kept saying to move the iPhone up and down.

Now it won't even allow me to try. Says Face ID is not available.

Everything worked perfectly until now. The first and only time I did the setup process it was quick and easy.

I have been using this phone for 3 months now. Never had an issue.

Anyone with the same problem?

Did you reboot? Otherwise, sounds like a hardware failure.

This is weird. If you rebooted and it's there, then that's a hardware failure.

MacRumors just add an article about some iPhones needing repairs regarding FaceID:

Might be related.

all this makes me want is airpower even more. Can't wait for it....if it doesn't come out by WWDC they better mention it.

Still curious to see how Apple is going to make the Apple Watch charge on its side as some bands like the link one don't open up to be placed flat. I know part of the coil or something is on the side of the watch probably done specifically knowing AirPower was in the works. But I neeeeeeds it.
