I fucking hate bean sprouts actually. But these didn't taste like bean sprouts.

haha as a kid i used to think of bean sprouts as filler. When I'd eat Bún Bò Xào at a restaurant, I'd be annoyed when I'd take a mouthful and it'd be more bean sprouts than vermicelli. It was my fault to order it a restaurant because it is so easy to make at home. At home I load up on the bún and add just enough bean sprouts for texture. However bean sprouts are essential to bánh xèo. Also I think its essential for bean sprouts to be at least slightly cooked. There are times when they're undercooked and the flavor detracts, imo.

:(

To be honest, I can't do spicy anymore either. I used to be able to, when was younger but now spicy stuff gives me stomach ache.

I have failed my ancestors and bring dishonour upon my family :(

I like certain types of spiciness. I'm a laksa person mostly, but mongolian is alright. Not super into straight chilli dishes.

I feel like the way US people use chilli is strange? I don't really get it. I'm not even sure it refers to the same thing as I use it?

My tolerance of spice is varied, but the hottest pepper I have to immediately stop at is a Carolina Reaper. But!....

I usually just grind them out into a sauce mix (or into a dry pepper mix) and dip my meats in them or put them in my instant ramen. Eating a whole pepper? That's different. I can't do that shit.

A papaya salad dish with about 4-5 Thai peppers = sniffles. Chicken wings marinated with ghost pepper = crying. The 2x or 4x spicy instant ramen = sniffles and tears. Instant ramen with carolina reaper pepper mix = sniffles.

Yeah, I can't stand spicy food. I mean, I can eat some very light spicy dishes, but not when every single fucking dish is spicy. That's why I kept urging people in China to try the Carolina Reaper. That thing will kill their love of hot spicy food.

The taco guy I know in GZ has made a sauce called the Death Sauce with the Carolina Reaper. Surprised quite a few Chinese patrons.

Yeah that's what has killed my love for very spicy foods. Trying the ghost pepper and then the carolina reaper. Just give me something with a bit of spice and I'm okay.

Hi new here

I eat spicy food in home but outside I eat less to moderate spicy food coz I get hiccups whenever I eat spicy food and don't want that in public. Also I'm Indian so I like spicy food xD

I mean, curry laksa level is fine.... papaya salad is delicious, and like, a bit of wasabi in sushi gives that kick in your mouth, but I can't with the one-upman-ship of #TheRealSpicy these days

also, hello Sedated o/ welcome :>

spider asia-unrelated but do I need to ask a mod if I want to make a poll? I want to make a Xenoblade 1 vs Xenoblade 2 OST topic but I don't think regular users can make polls...

I love eating crabs and lobsters only because I don't ever have to crack open the shells myself. My husband does all the heavy lifting (thanks meph ♥ ♥ ♥).

Wouldn't eat them otherwise, it's just too much work.

Forgive me Asian-Era, I forgot to snap pictures of family meal today. >_<

My vendor gave me some free Sun noodles the other day, so for family meal (I work in a kitchen) I made some spicy ramen in a habanero bacon stock topped with chicken and fried Brussels sprouts.

I promise I'll photograph it next time. >_>

you know what is really not worth to me the effort/food ratio? Prawns.

I love prawns but only if some other poor sucker has already peeled them. Otherwise they're just not worth the effort imho

idk why but white people get all weird when you go to a proper yum cha place where you just pile your bones on the tablecloth and spill your tea everywhere

speaking of crabs, my mom brought him parking lot crab today. like, a co-worker's brother or something caught some himself and selling it to people at her work. a bit out of season, but still alright. had shrimp yesterday. they were tiny and defn'ly not worth the work to shell. should've just just fried them to hell and popcorn shrimp 'em.

i often can't be arsed to pick out bones in fish though. too low value.

Opened up my Tsuta truffle oil shoyu instant ramen. It's kind of nice that the premium instant ramen from Japan actually comes with both chashu and bamboo shoots. Needless to say, this was pretty good.

I never liked crustaceans until the day I had a few morsels of a fresh crayfish my friend's dad had caught earlier that day.

Okay. I'll try Orenchi right now.

EDIT: It's legit. I really like the thick noodles. I took a pic but don't have a place to upload it that works.
