I really, really, REALLY hope this new map will work a lot better. I so want to play the game, but in its current state it's infuriating. Plus I can't play the test in the middle of the night, not I'm home this weekend. Will wait for the official release.

The times for Europe are much kinder over the next few days, I believe.

Played around 7-8 matched last night and I can say that the on ground gameplay definitely was a lot better than Erangel. The initial drop still suffers from FPS drops and massive pop-ins but after that it is good for the most part.

Good job PUBG.

The two games I played last night still had the play-doh house effect that means I can't get at any weapons for about a minute and a half. Other than that it all seemed good but I died both time super quickly so not got a great handle on it. My friend did fall underneath a building though. That was an issue with Erangel as well to begin with, hopefully be ironed out soon.

Apparently I'm in the minority based on what i've mainly seen on Reddit and here, but I'm just not as impressed as a lot of you. Glad so many are enjoying themselves though. Here's my impressions. I'll hop on a bit more this weekend but this was my experience so far. Xbox One S for the record.

Game does feel a bit more smooth in gunfights at just general running around. Still do get some frame drops when the action gets hectic though.

Still hard crash out of games from time to time straight back to dashboard and it's a coin flip if it lets me hop back in or not. Last time I crashed out and loaded in it showed like I had no health but the game kept going. I couldn't see my character or move or open the map or anything like that. It got down to two people left and then came up with the better luck next time screen and had me in 14th so apparently I was dead the whole time? Who knows. http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/famouslastx/video/48745507

Initial loading in when landing is horrendous. I've had entire cities take a minute to load in and I'm talking the actual geometry of the building and everything not strictly just the Play Doh houses which is also still a huge issue.

Mid game has been pretty dull in the matches I've played and I'll agree with what I saw someone post earlier. There absolutely needs to be more vehicles or something. Far too much running which typically involves weaving in and out of mountains which makes it take that much longer.

All in all, seems like some steps in the right direction but still A LOT of work that needs to be done. Lots more BR Games are on the way and once the big devs step in, it's going to be hard to gain new players and vital to retain the ones they have. So I hope that Bluehole sincerely takes everyones feedback into account and works to address the glaring issues. The most vocal people are the ones who like the game and just want it to be the best game that it can be. It's important to remember that.

Side note: Any ETA on First Person servers getting put up by the way? And is Erangel in the test server at all?

Test server patch notes:

  • World loading has been optimized. "Play-doh" and interior prop pop-in effects have been improved. (Players may still experience the play-doh effect in Miramar—we're still working on this.)

Played a lot more over the weekend.

Game ran pretty darn good, still had the pop in but it was much better than on Erangel.

However, last night felt like we had some issues with hit detection and maybe lag. That might be down to us being in Europe and having to use NA servers. Wasn't a problem a day before though, managed to win a game on Saturday night.

Looking forward to see the results of all the feedback.

both clients just flat out work now (X)
this weekend felt like Christmas

I just wish the game launched like this, I can actually recommend to my other friends, only the hardcore guys have been playing I didn't want to fuss with my more casual buds since it was so janky.

super pleased, it took.. 5 months but I feel good playing the game now

I really didn't see much of an improvement at all. Frame rate still tanks as the game progresses on the x. Makes driving near impossible due to the maps terrain.

A lot of times when I would open my inventory the game would lag and I would freeze for 5 seconds and be teleported some where else.

Rendering was horrendous. Can only imagine how bad it was for people on the regular one and s.

Load times were very long with my team and I only loading in while already on the plane.

Hi folks,

Since we recently verified some optimization and performance improvements on the recently launched on the Test Server, we're now ready to bring these over to the live server.

PATCH TIMING:

May 2, 1am PDT / May 2, 10am CEST / May 2, 5pm KST

PATCH CONTENT:

These optimization and performance improvements have been proven to be effective on the PUBG test server, so we're bringing them over to live servers now.

  • The free-fall and parachuting process has been optimized, leading to performance improvements during the initial stages of each game.

  • World loading has been optimized. "Play-doh" and interior prop pop-in effects have been improved.

  • Movement data for nearby but out-of-sight players is now handled in a more efficient manner, resulting in general performance improvements.

  • Similarly, when nearby but out-of-sight players equip or unequip items, this process is handled in a more efficient manner. This helps with performance and crashes throughout the game.

  • The inventory has been optimized, improving response time when opening it and solving some crashing issues.

  • Uninhabited boats and vehicles were causing some performance issues, and we've resolved this issue.

KNOWN ISSUE:

After long play sessions (three or more hours) on the standard Xbox One and the Xbox One S, the game sometimes crashes. This has been a problem for some time, and we hope to solve it soon. In the meantime, there's a simple workaround you can use. Simply restart the app every couple of hours if you plan on playing a longer play session.

TEST SERVER NEWS:

Soon we'll announce more details about our plans for additional testing on the Xbox Test Server. Stay tuned!

Love,

The PUBG Xbox Team

Congrats PUBG team. The game is in a decent enough state that I actually managed to play 8 games tonight with my buddy for the first time since it came out and we were all disappointed.

Framerates were good enough, CQC felt fair, driving was fine, and zero crashes or matchmaking issues. AND we have plans to play again tomorrow. Crazy.

LOL I read this as you were all disappointed because of the decent state of the game, not that you were disappointed on its initial release :-P

Played last night post patch. Didn't even realise this was to add a load of improvements.

Still had long load times for textures.

Certainly didn't feel as smooth as Miramar and had one major issue where the game "hung" for a second when I engaged someone in a fight. I died as a result. I might have died anyway as I'm rubbish but I'll never know.

Overall I wouldn't say I noticed any major improvement.

game 1
dropped at mansion
I'm the first one there
mansion isn't loaded in yet
can't enter
can't pick up guns on the porch
I get shot by someone who's playing on Xbox One X and could enter that building
dead

game 2
dropped at school
I'm the first one there
school isn't loaded in yet
i'm sliding across the roof
i slide right off
I get shot by someone who's playing on Xbox One X and could actually walk on the roof and pick up the guns there
dead

game 3

dropped right in front of hospital
I'm the first one there
everything is loaded in just fine
there's a guy 30 seconds away, high up in the air, trying to land on hospital roof
but I'm already here. I'm gonna beat that player to it, grab a gun, and shoot 'em before they knew what hit 'em
I get running toward hospital
except actually, no
I rubberband for thirty solid seconds
I hear the player land on the roof
I continue to rubberband while begging this game to give me a break
5 seconds later, I can finally move
I grab a bike to drive away from the hospital since, yunno
I'm driving away
I pass over the nearby bridge
my bike is firmly on the ground
my bike chooses to instantly explode on a whim
dead

game 4
I land just north of west bridge
west bridge isn't loaded in yet, but it will
tryin to find a vehicle so I can get to military base quick
I grab a vehicle near the bridge
bridge isn't loaded in yet
I patiently wait for the bridge to load in
another player rams my buggy while I wait for this invisible bridge to show itself
we both explode
dead

game 5
I land at hospital
I'm the only one there
I loot
I got some gear
I'm finally feeling good
I drive south to Domed Building near Gatka
kill a guy while I'm there
I wait on the balcony, as I'm in the center of each subsequent circle
I hear someone pull up
I prep a grenade to throw through the window
the player runs upstairs
I throw the grenade through the window
I see the grenade pass through this window that is less than a foot in front of me
I run to the edge of the balcony, protected by a wall
that guy's so gonna die
the grenade goes off
I get flung off the balcony
dead
the other player loots me soon afterward

The highs are high, but the lows, all too low. I've never had a more frustrating experience with a video game.
I've tried to be understanding, but then I have days like today that just leave me hopelessly baffled.

I can confirm that this game is still broken, and that's genuinely the most charitable description of this game's present state that I can muster.

I'm still getting killed by Xbox One X owners who are actually able to enter buildings and pick up weapons long before either have even loaded in properly on my end. That's unacceptable.

I'm still crashing randomly, as often as I did when the game first launched. That's unacceptable.

I'm still rubberbanding at random while players around me sprint past or beat me to death with impunity. Thats unacceptable.

I'm still losing the RNG lottery, having to run very far to find vehicles and never trusting that I'll find enough to survive in any location. That's unacceptable. The game design is still bad. There's a reason that experienced developers tend not to go with pure RNG - because it leads to terrible player experiences.

The controls now feel marginally better than they did before, but the aim acceleration and deadzone bugs that have been present from day one are still there. That's beyond unacceptable. If there's any excuse for that then I have to hear it. Performance issues are one thing. Controls are EVERYTHING in a shooter, and this game's controls are still fundimentally broken, in ways that the developers have known about for weeks and months.

Go ahead and reread all that. Let it sink in. That's right. Bluehole has been aware that the controls are broken for some time now, and it's still not fixed. We're getting a new map before we're getting proper controls.

I'm sorry, but PUBG on Xbox is just one big frustrating joke of a game. It's broken in all the wrong ways. It's given me a whole new perspective on what it means for a game to be bad. ARK was a better game when it debuted in early access, and I hate ARK.

Any one of these issues would sink better games. I would get a refund in a heartbeat if I could, because I could get a better game for the 30 dollars I wasted on the futile hope that Bluehole could make this game come together with time.

If the next patch doesn't fix the controls at the absolute least, I'm going to start playing Fortnite instead, and I'll never waste my time with another Bluehole game again.

Why are proper controls, of all things, too much to ask for? How many more months will this game leave me frustrated every single time I attempt to play and enjoy it because not a single element of the game lives up to any reasonable standard?

Will PUBG on Xbox ever be good? I am starting to really doubt it.

Crazy.

To each their own. The game certainly feels better than it did when it launched. It's still early access, and I've tried to be understanding of that, but I'm still running into all the same issues that I had on day one, except for the sole improvement that is framerate. Game DVR doesn't make the game unplayable on the Xbox One S anymore! Wooooooo.....

I've given this game so many chances. I'm just about done, and good riddance, too. A video game should never be as frustrating as PUBG. Not even some of the time. Not even as an early access title.

I really love that I'm seemingly the only person on Xbox that has a permanent glitch where my vehicles max out at 20 kmph while driving. It results in me losing every game because I can't get to circles fast enough so pretty much have to play squad only

This game man, what a rollercoaster of emotions.

I start the matchmaking for Solo FPP for the first time in about 5 weeks, encouraged by some posters claiming the game runs better now. I already booted the game to get items on Monday when, again, I lost my settings, but today I did not lose them. Matchmaking took several minutes to find a match (thia this never happened to me), and even when inside the lobby it took multiple minutes to get up to the desired number, with the match ultimately starting with 89 players. Plenty of issues.

The early part of the match seems surreal. After the parachuting, I find nothing and noone basically. A decent bag, a pistol, a shotfun, ammo, health, low quality items and such after several big houses. No cars anywhere, I couldn't hear or see a single vehicle for the longest time. And looks like I wasn't alone in the bad RNG, with the circle immediately going very much to the West, a lot of people died due to the blue circle moving. By the 3rd or 4th circle we were down to 25 people, only then I'd find a car or see others.

My drive brings me to an unlooted house, but nothing is in there for me. I hear battles in the distance, but having merely a shotgun meant I had no chance to join unless it was close-up, and in this area full of hills and barely any buildings it seemed frankly impossible to do much. A guy comes by suspecting someone may be inside, so he starts throwing all kinds of grenades in. I do see him from the window, so I rush out and kill him close-up with the shotty. Can't loot him, too exposed, back to the waiting game.

As the circle forces me to move, I rush out and there is someone laying on top of a small hill trying to kill me. I need to get close or run away, so zig zagging all the way behind a tree I go. I know he will grenade me, so as soon as I realize he is throwing I blaze out with the shotty on him. By the time he takes out a weapon he is almost dead, he damages me but I win the battle. I gotta run to the circle which I barely survive as I heal up next to a rock.

Waiting game in the second last circle as only three players remain. I have no idea where is everyone, I am on top of a hill but no proper visual. I will have to rush forward because of the final circle, so a leap of faith. I use painkillers, and few seconds before the circle moves I go for it. This happens.

Some horrible aiming back and forth as I haven't played in a while, but the strategy works out shockingly. I again zig zag towards the enemy and manage to kill him with the shotty with barely any health left. Even more surprisjngly, the third guy (wherever he was) dies on his own in the blue. He could have killed me with one shot probably, our location was known thanks to the shootout. A solo chicken dinner with basically only a shotgun, who would have thought?

As for the performance, the game seemed to run better than the last time I played. There were still drops, but 3 shootouts I had and they were all playable, granted I avoided massively crowded areas. The initial matchmaking and the settings lost the other day are worrying, but regardless of the win it's the first time in a while the game felt good. A month ago or so even shootouts I'd win would be a fucking mess with half the bullets not registering, here they all did. I really hope this wasn't a fluke and the game really is improving. I will check the test server later today.

The current build on the test servers is so much better than the build in the base game. There is seriously no reason why anyone should play the base game while the test servers are up right now. The game on the test servers feels better and has more content.

I understand why this build hasn't been pushed out yet. Last weekend only had the new map, so obviously the devs wanted to make sure everything worked well on the old map as well. This weekend includes both maps and both run better than the base game. Congrats. The test was a success. Now push this out to the base game.

I have been very critical of the Xbox version of PUBG in the past. So much so that I don't post in this thread anymore despite the fact that I play every day because someone told me that I "should have known what I signed up for" after I criticized a patch (lol). I don't take back anything I said. The past updates have not been nearly enough. None of the past updates made any significant or noticeable improvements to performance. This is different. The test server is noticeably better. The game still has a very long way to go. It's far from perfect and still suffers from frame drops, but it's in a much better state on the test servers. The most important thing is that when I shoot my gun the game doesn't go to shit.

I want to highlight the improvements with a clip. The clip itself is not particularly impressive. I just go inside a building, kill a dude, and then kill another dude I hear outside. The point is I'm convinced this play would not have been possible in the base game. At the very least it would have been much more difficult. Urban combat is actually fun now.

It's also nice that we can now change the in game brightness and the color of the crosshairs. Goodbye stupid white reticle and hello much more visible pink reticle.

To sum up my throughts: the test servers are great. You shouldn't play the base game right now while the test servers are up. This should be pushed into the base game. Good job to the dev team. There's a lot more that needs to be done, but this is a major step in the right direction. This is the first time I can say that since launch.

Wow the test server build really is a huge improvement.

Is HDR supposed to be fixed for Pubg though? It's extremely dark inside every building. I guess I need to turn hdr off on my tv for now? I have an LG b7 for reference.

Yeah, yesterday's match was definitely a fluke. Once again I died thanks to the shooting being a lottery. This time I pressed the trigger for a bit on auto and yet I only shot once, my opponent proceeded to murder me in the meantime. That after another several minutes long matchmaking, some horrible framerate drops and network lag. Really need to try the test server out.

You see that's why I gave up on the game shortly after release, I've played PUBG for over 250 on my Pc and know how the guns work, but I try to shoot twice with the pump shotgun on the Xbox version and I don't get two shots off just one and bang I'm dead

I know these kinds of posts are annoying but are you sure it's not your connection?

I've not really heard of matchmaking taking several minutes, that seems exceptional? (all the other things happen all the time)

Seems to be depending on the mode. Maybe there aren't that many Solo FPP players in the morning in Europe? TPP was a lot faster.

You can now chance the brightness in game. I bumped it up to 60 and things seem much better. But obviously you can go to whatever value you like best.
I tried changing that setting but it didn't seem to change how dark building interiors get. It's like the entire game appears to be happening at dusk even when it's supposed to be daytime outside, and it's nearly impossible to see anything inside buildings, even with brightness turned all the way up.

I'll report it as a bug and just turn HDR off for the game for now.

The ads sensitivity glitch on the pts is obnoxious. I've changed my settings every game and no matter what it reverts to this bonkers aim speed that makes your gun go everywhere. Unplayable right now.

Yes I am hitting apply. My friends had the same issue when we played this weekend. I tried playing around with every sensitivity setting too. When the game starts it works fine but after a minute or two reverts back to the crazy sensitivity.

Mine was even weirder as for the longest part of the match it was all fine. It somehow decided to go into hyperdrive as I approached the top 10. Not sure what was up with that, probably a button input or something changes the sensitivity.

Well I'm glad it's not isolated to just a few people.

Now if I could just understand why I can't drive vehicles on either server.

The ads glitch happened to me as well. I did hit apply and seemed to last for a game at one point before going back to normal. Overall I like the gunfights better in Miramar. It felt a lot smoother especially with all the sensitivity adjustments. Going back to old map you definitely feel the jankiness.

Nades really need an overhaul in this game. They're not consistent at all.

Nades landing further away from me kill me more often than ones that land on top of me.

They shouldn't be able to kill you from another room through several walls or from the bottom floor of a house.

Also the sound is bugged on them. They don't always make impact noise and this isn't bc they're being cooked

Beginning of the game is worse.

But the rest of the game is better. Finally felt like my shots hit for once.
