Following a months-long deal-making process, DC Universe has put DC Comics' Swamp Thing in development. The drama, based on DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, has a script-to-series order. That means if the script comes in well, the drama would then be picked up straight to series.

Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica, Netflix's Daredevil) and Gary Dauberman (It and its forthcoming sequel) are attached to co-write the script and serve as showrunners on the live-action drama. James Wan (Aquaman) will exec produce alongside his Atomic Monster banner topper Michael Clear, with the company's Rob Hackett set as a co-exec producer. Verheiden and Dauberman will also exec produce the live-action drama.

Heey, I'll watch this. Been trying to get a buddy to read them but he's stuck on sandman I think. This should light the fire haha

Is it standalone? I'd love for Swamp Thing to be in the CWverse or the DCEU. Hell, even Gotham or Titans at this point, I'm not picky.

Controversial, but Moore's run is far and away his best work ever. Hoping they take a lot from that for this. It'd get me to subscribe. Mark Millar's run wasn't too bad either.

Actually...looking at the people behind this makes me unhype. People that did Daredevil and It...nah.

Despite having never read a Swamp-Thing comic book, and only heard him in passing here and there. This matchup with James Wan gets even me excited, and I'm definitely on to check this out!

Supreme is my favorite of Moore's work, but Swamp Thing is easily in his top 5.

Hopefully it'll turn out well. Making Abby a CDC researcher worries me that they're going to add a lot of boring human drama.

Who's to say he couldn't?

DC probably .... they are pretty focused in which series/film can use which character and besides Flash, if it appears in one it can't appear in another

And unless the DC Universe ...verse can break this, chances are pretty low we see another Constantine =(

People should lower those expectations based on James Wan's involvement, considering he's only onboard as an EP.

seeing Mark Verheiden's name got me hype though since he's showrunning and I loved Battlestar Galactica...then I saw what he's written since....noooope.

the writer of anabelle origins sucks too, I'm not that hyped for this but I really hope they pull this one off. the little I read of the Alan Moore run is dope. there's some potential here for gothic horror which I hope they go for.

I've been wondering for awhile when DC would do more film/tv stuff with Swamp Thing.

I'm cautiously excited for this.

While I'm excited for this and Young Justice, I don't need a "just DC Comics tv shows and cartoons" service, what I need is a DC Comics subscription service like Marvel Unlimited. Hopefully this will include that like it was implied in the past.

Welp. They got me. I will be subbing. 100% supporting this.

I grew up LOVING Swamp Thing. Was one of the first comics I got into. I remember being about 13yo and spending a lot of my saved up money on a copy of Swamp Thing #1 one of my stores had in the back-issue bin and couldn't believe how lucky I was. I loved watching those corny Swamp Thing movies, the USA tv series, and even the short-lived animated show.

Then of course as I got older I was able to learn more about the Alan Moore run and read all of that too. I try to keep up with current Swampy stuff as well.

I'm all over this.

I think the live action films and the USA live action show prove that it can be done. Excited to see what they can do with today's technology, and with a nicer budget.

Swamp Thing story has a lot of weird stuff sprinkled along in it. Sometimes I wondered if the writers were on drugs when coming up with some ideas for it. They things they came up with were Stephen King level of weird (like the turtle in "It").

Writing pedigree seems good. I dunno... I love Swamp Thing almost as much as I love Con-Job and Lucifer, but the track record for those property's transition to TV has been fucking atrocious.

This is a picture of Alan Moore at his wedding, next to Neil Gaiman
