I just bought a '17 86 in Raven. Have had it for a month and its been ok. Its a good car but I am seriously considering selling it for a S2k, which I previously owned.
S2k is so much better built in all reguards, it will problably be worth more still in 5 years time.
Bunch out there still: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used-Honda-S2000-d596
Oh, Im definitely aware of the resale value of the S2k. Its been on fire for the last 4-5 years. Ironically, my 86 is pretty well built in terms of interior noise. No rattles at all. My main issue is the engine and clutch.
200HP is plenty.
And yet I wouldn't give mine up for any car under 80k. Such a fun car to drive.
I installed an aftermarket header and a tuned it. I believe that evens that dip out a bit.200HP is plenty.
Its the 150lbs of Torque and the torque dip in the upper rpm range that make the car feel slow.
it weighs 2780 LB thoFuck I knew it was aenemic but goddamn. Put a twin turbo on it and it might be faster than my 03 Mustang GT *waka waka* what is you doin, Toyota?
...which ones? Thoughts on install / use as a daily driver? That'd be a fun birthday gift for my wife, as it's *technically* her car. :)I installed an aftermarket header and a tuned it. I believe that evens that dip out a bit.
lol look at these weak shitty things check out my focus st its got 25% more powurBefore "sports cars" started to weigh as much as a truck 200hp is all you needed.
*Slow Piece of shit cars*
it weighs 2780 LB tho
and handles like a dream
didn't have any problem spanking my buds on their 600's in the mountains
or a v6 accord with 70 more hp
I was going to get a BRZ, when there was a rumor for a stock turbo in '16....... :( Now im holding out for a model 3.
...my parents just got their 3 this weekend! I won't be drag-racing Dad anytime soon. :)I was going to get a BRZ, when there was a rumor for a stock turbo in '16....... :( Now im holding out for a model 3.
I am using Open Flash Headers. They were all the rage a few years back but it seems that they don't sell them anymore. You can also buy a tuner from them where you just plug it into your car, select a tune, and upload it. I didn't do the install myself, I have no skills in that area. I still have the stock pipes on it because I didn't want it to be extremely loud but it sounds great. It definitely added more pep to the car. I was in the same boat as most people where they felt like it needed a little more power but I haven't had that feeling since....which ones? Thoughts on install / use as a daily driver? ...drat. I'll have to keep looking. I'm exactly the same - I'll keep the stock exhaust, as I have zero interest in making it loud. A tad more zip would be nice, that's all.I am using Open Flash Headers. They were all the rage a few years back but it seems that they don't sell them anymore. i test drove it a couple years ago and was so disappointed by how slow it was that i ended up getting an M3 instead
Damn I would too if I can get a new M3 for the same price as the 86.

I believe it was. I don't have access to my email at the moment to confirm it.Did you go with unequal (subbie burble) length headers? I am thinking of the same upgrade after putting stickier tires on and losing some of the tail happiness.
It's only pretty loud when you first start it and the choke is going. It dies down in 15 seconds or when you put it in gear. I listen to a lot of podcasts in the car and am never affected by the sound of the new headers....drat. I'll have to keep looking.
