Versus mode was shown on the Capcom Fighters stream the other day.

You get a prompt after each match for whether you want to rematch or not and it pushes you back to the character select screen if you do.

The prompt uses the same GUI as the rest of the menu options, so it might look a bit jarring but otherwise it does the job. It didn't seem clunky or super slow or anything.

Training mode wasn't shown but I'd guess it works in a similar way.

I'd be fine with them just romhacking english and online into Zero 2 Alpha / Alpha 2 Gold and including it.

The "Asia" region of CPS2 games were generally in English and Zero 2 Alpha was released there. There's videos of it on YouTube. It was dumped and supported in Mame around the same time the other versions of Alpha 2 were.

I'm probably repeating myself here but the arcade version doesn't have Cammy.

Oh, I didn't realize that? If there's already a version of SFZ2A in english then there really is no excuse.

Hey, if it works, it works. That said, I'm curious to see how they'll handle Training Mode.

For those who are super keen on the subject, here's a list of what was changed in Zero 2 Alpha aside from the extra characters.

https://forums.shoryuken.com/t/what-are-the-differences-between-alpha-2-and-alpha-2-gold/35905/7

It would be cool if they were to add some of the more niche games and variants as extras or unlockables but otherwise I'm not really fussed about missing out on something that only ever saw a limited release in certain markets.

I mean I'd rather they just go ham and include Rainbow and Koryu before worrying about Zero 2 Alpha.

How they're doing Versus mode is pretty smart. They're simply loading a save state to the point immediately after both P1 and P2 have inserted coins. Who knows how they're going to implement training mode.

Probably like this.

http://pof.eslack.org/2014/04/22/ssf2t-the-quest-for-the-perfect-training-mode/

I've said this previously but you could get an ok experience for most people through a handful of Mame style cheats.

Set the lifebars + super meters to refill automatically and fix the timer at 99 seconds and boom, you got yourself a training mode.

Hitbox viewers are within the realm of possibility since people have made their own with Lua scripting on PC but otherwise I wouldn't count on much.

Has Capcom even acknowledged that they're using arcade roms? I know it's obvious, but it just seems like they haven't officially said as much or even wanted to.

Wow that SSF2 Tournament Battle seems so cool, I watched how the arcade version works. I might get it after all.

They definitely have not. The last collection of this nature was Anniversary Collection on PS2 and Xbox, and that only included SF2 and 3.
wrong, the sf alpha anthology came after and is pretty much arcade perfect for the alpha games, even has sfz3 upper. problem is that it was ps2 only. would be nice to see it hit ps2 classics in some form.

Okay, didn't know about that collection, but still, PS2 era and didn't include nearly as many games as this collection

I would re-buy that game on PS4 if they released it. It had some fun cool stuff that's not really replicated in another package.
I don't remember it being touted as arcade-perfect though, but it's been a while.

The PAL PS2 version didn't even include SF3!

Also I think it's really cool that NG and 2I are finally getting some time in the spotlight since the only home console port they ever got was to the Dreamcast.

Yes, I totally agree. I'm a big fan of New Gen and 2I and I'm incredibly excited to see these games finally on another console other than the Dreamcast. Extremely happy Capcom went the extra mile and added them!

I was considering my Switch, but I think I'm going to go with the PS4 version. Hopefully that won't kill the UFSFII community on Switch though, that community is actually huge and I get to play with barely any lag with people from all around the world. Great netcode.

For those waiting for the Switch pre-order it's finally available now. To be honest I don't ever remember this being available prior until now. Still if you want it day one and want the Prime Discount, well now's your chance.

I have like an Anniversary collection I had for the PS2 around here somewhere. I really enjoyed that, and how pick up and play it was. Made me realize how much I liked Alpha 3.
I don't know how many times I put the disc in my PS2.

I'll definitely be getting this.

Keep in mind that the games in this collection are all the Arcade versions. If you enjoyed Alpha 3 because of the home console version specific content such as Dramatic Battle or World Tour Mode, these things did not exist in the Arcade release.

Still an excellent collection regardless.

This is the first time ever that we will get arcade perfect versions of Alpha 1 to 3.

Alpha Anthology says hi ;)

Sorry if this has been asked but are some of these the home versions or are they all arcade versions? Gonna be bummed if SFA3 doesn't have World Tour mode :(

I have an Arcade machine already that has the SF games on it so I'm hoping for the home versions.

It's also not gonna have the console characters, so no Guile, Deejay, Fei Long, Evil Ryu, Shin Akuma, or T Hawk.
