Yeah, they're definitely post game content but you can access them before you finish the story though, thought I'd try one with my save I have just after you get the chisel. Definitely not trying again unless I'm post-game with a lot more upgrades.

Yea, first one is the easiest. Probably intentional. Some of the other ones have ridiculous movesets.

ive only fought 2. The 1 vs 1 one was piece of cake, the other which spawned enemies was a fucking nightmare.

Im not sure if there are more than spawn enemies but if its the one I fought then the fight is pretty easy when you only focus on the Valkyrie. I used Atreyus for crowd control and dodged when needed but only focused on the Valkyrie and she went down pretty fast. Someone can correct me too but it seems like when you kill her spawns of enemies, she just spawns more powerful ones to replace them each time. So keep the lowly grunts from the beginning of the fight on the field since they are easy to avoid.

So glad she burned those ugly green arrows, they look like shit no matter what outfit the boy is wearing.

Also I really don't understand why those are bad though, could anyone explain? Did she hate green as much as me or something?

The step up from Tyrs set will be massive.
Valkyrie gear won't do much for you in Niflheim. You'll need special gear there anyway. So I would recommend going to Niflheim first and getting one of Ivaldis Mist sets.

Thanks. Now, the hard decision as for which of the 3 sets to go for. Which would be most useful there? High runic?

omg, i didn't know you could change camera sens. Will def up it tonight.

It's a game changer. Takes a bit to get used to, but once you do, you'll never need to use the down quick-turn ever again. Makes combat much more fluid once you can turn around so effortlessly.

Travelers were my favorite enemy to fight. They were dark souls as fuck.

Damn straight. They were the most satisfying enemy to dodge.

Not sure if it's revealed in the game or not (still not finished), but looking up Norse lore reveals the answer:

The only thing that can kill Baldur is mistletoe.

Yeah you can say that again. Awesome enemy design - the Souls influence is clear as day!

I remember fighting a purple-bar one from a rift at really low level and literally every one of his attacks was a one-hit kill. The attempt where I finally defeated him was pure fucking poetry.... just a beautiful thing.

how do you protect against valkyries attacks? I can't dodge every single one of them, when I try to use my shield it does not work. getting fucked by my first fight

You're fighting the first one? Gunnr?

When she raises in the air and you see the yellow flash, time the parry and you can counter easily.

When she does her wing attacks up close, you need to just hold block. She will then either followup with a parryable (yellow) or non-parryable (red) attack. For the latter, you just need to dodge right.

That's about it. Master those and you'll never get hit by her.

Still no patch? SSM... Forgive us our trespasses and give us our daily update!
I know its stupid but i stopped playing after the lighting bug introduced in the last patch or 2 but now im thinking thats not getting fixed this week. Has anyone from SSM even acknowledge the bug, its like assassins origins all over again.

Stupid question: can you cancel rune attacks during the slow-down phase? If not, I hope they do this in the sequel, because it adds a cool layer of depth and actually makes the slow down part of the combat system and not some visual gimmick. As it is, it's kinda unnecessary because it interrupts the fantastic flow.

These encounters so far have proved to be some of the best parts of the game and where the combat system really shines.

Finally got the Platinum Trophy!
Truly fantastic game. The only problems I had with the game was Fast-Travel system which was ruined because of One-Shot camera and rate of getting money and XP which was too much.

I'll be waiting for the amazing GIFs on the Valkyries. They're where combat is very versatile!

I can only manage the execution GIFs for Valkyries. :P

I have plenty of combat footage from the fight, might make some gifs later. :D

I kept getting killed by the last set of enemies that spawned, they had the shields and projectiles, that last phase with those enemies is what made the fight really difficult for me.

Got my plat today! What a rider and an excellent joy is this game, not to mention that the plat is also a delight. I am thinking of doing %100 an all areas, as I missed some collectibles in the lake of the nine.

MOD EDIT: Spoiler tagged image.

If you haven't already, wait until you fight the
Valkyries

Good God

I haven't encountered them yet but look forward to it. Like I said earlier in the thread, combat shines in the 1v1 or 1v2 encounters. I am sure there is amazing combat flow throughout. I just have not come to grips or discovered it yet.

I played and finished the game already. It's not an opinion. It was an observation.

I'm playing the game right now and I don't see any time when you have to "babysit" Atreus (which is what you list as one of the negatives of the game). If this only occurs on hard mode you implied you watched this occur on a stream not while actually playing it. If this is the case aren't you forming an opinion from watching rather than playing it for yourself?

One trophy left to get.
Kill the Valkyrie Queen. Got to it late last night and got her down to around half health but that was without any rage going into it.
So what's the best loadout for boss fights?
I have been using a couple mist pieces, health regen and i like the look. the valk set has nice state distribution but the bonuses don't seem great?

I'm not done with the story yet but I'm farming echoes to upgrade gear to go after those valks later. I don't think I can get tired of the combat in this game.

The game is really good but it goes on for way too long. Also the side quests have the same enemies in the main game, so they feel repetitive even though you're going to new places. there were only 4 or 5 boss fights and they were mostly underwhelming. It peaked with the first boss. Also the fast travel system is bad
