Is Monster Hunter World's multiplayer do-able with 2 people, or do you need to have 4?

I have never played a Monster Hunter game, he has played some of the PSP games.
It is. But you won't be able to play together from the very beginning. I believe the first two quest you can only play alone. Don't worry. They're only to get you to get a feel for the basic mechanics and are quite easy.

The main hurdle after that is that you'll both have to watch a cutscene at the beginning of each story quest. And the game won't let you watch it together. You'll both have to start your own mission quest to watch it. After you've both seen the cutscene one of you will have to abandon your quest and join the other. IMO, that's the game's major flaw.

Please note this is only for story quests. Optional quests, investigations, and event quests don't require you to watch a cutscene.

Weird, HR Event for Dodo didn't return anything. Maybe the search is glitched a little. Thanks for the heads up, didn't know it was a 7 Star quest.

It won't return anything right away, you have to be there pressing that x sometimes for 30 minutes and hoping someone will post the quest and you will get in. Yesterday there were very few people that posted them and with so many people hunting for that quest it was getting listed for less than a second. You have to be blazing fast with your x pressing and you need somewhat good and fast connection otherwise others will beat you to it.

I got silver crowns from it, so I suppose it's possible.

Yup, same here.

I only got one orb each time I played Code Red. On the other hand I got a Anajnath gem, Rathalos Ruby, and a Teostra gem. My friend got a ruby and an Ordogaron gem. I've got all the orbs I need to make the complete set. But I want to keep on playing to see if I can score some more gems. Seems like a pretty easy way to do so.

That's about how it's gone for me so far. I've gotten 3 Teostra Gems, which is pretty nice and I carved a Odogaron Gem during one quest.
Also helps they have lowered HP, and it's pretty easy to beat up on them.
(Especially since I've been going in there with my Paralysis SA; helps quite a bit.)

Ooohh!! Is it searchable via SOS?? I have all the bits from the first USJ event so I am absolutely DESPERATE to complete my set!! How did you find it can I ask please :)

Edit: sorry, just read how to search for it! Thank you to everyone who posted. Search 7* event quest, dodogama.
Check the time in Japan, from my experience the best time to search fot it is between 4pm -8pm Japan Standard Time.

Now that the set search was updated with Starlord and Dante I've been rerunning my commonly used sets but aside from some improvements/variations thanks to Kulve, they are nowhere to be seen :s
Was hoping for the odd extra skill/no more eyepatch since the sets seem pretty good with lots of popular skills. Welp

E: Oh, just swapped around the skills a little and got a set for my relic Odo lance without eyepatch and Dante boots :D

Man, I can't find any use for Dante's Pants that doesn't make my builds just worse overall.

Turns out, losing the lvl 3 slot that the Dragonking gives you really hurts a lot of builds. And there isn't a lot of good headgear in the game apparently.

But there are good heads. Nergigante with Max Might, Kulve with Agitator, Rath Souls with crit boost, Bezel with earplugs, Rathalos with attack boost and now we have Dante with Weakness and crit eye and Starlord with Agitator. Even Kushala with ice attack is great if you going for an ice build or Guild cross for defensive build.

Problem always was with legs, you had Nergigante, Dober and Death Stench that everyone was using. Kirin was a must if you went for a hidden element and now you can use it with other good skills on Kulve pieces.

Poked around a bit but I did not see any info in regards to a ResetEra Clan? Is their currently one and if so who can I talk to about joining?

OK fine. There are no good headgear for my builds. Bazel is great, but I use CB and LS so roars are nothing, and Kulve is sweet but Free Element ruins my NEB builds.

God bless, my last worthwhile Rathalos investigation finally gave up the giant crown lol
Also tested my Kurve Horn Spread HBG Build against him, super nice. Works well to stunlock him most of the time since he falls over after three Spread shots on his head while the set has four.

Welcome back friend!
I needed that Dante gear and amazing Charge Blade.
Sadly though I think my time is done with this game, once I unlocked the gear and tried a couple quests with it equipped I didn't have any motivation to continue. I've barely played over the last couple weeks. ;_;
New monsters or DLC though and I'm back in. :D

Just ran into 3 Japanese players during a Code Red quest.

Killed Anja and Odogaron and noticed one of them was just standing in one spot using wide range healing.

Then when Teostra popped up they all went back to base camp and told me to "finish it". So I had to face an upscaled Teostra on my own.

Naturally once I finally killed it they all ran in to carve the corpse while giving condescending praise.

I got 3 orbs from that quest which gave me my 7 needed for everything so in the end it worked out for me. I'd like to think that each of them only got one orb so they still need to farm it more.

If they did that I would've just ran around wasting time and not bother killing Teo and see if they kicked me. Let's just waste their time as well.

I will continue to pray to RNGesus.

When I'm not spec'd for stun immunity I feel 99% of the time 100% of my carts are due to death during stun animation. Also, was it ever confirmed that monsters will deliberately punish you if you make mistakes (or like Shao Khan reading inputs)? Whenever I am frantically cheesing it to heal I feel the monster goes out of its way to ignore the other 3 hunters wailing on it to target ME.

Don't @ me about the Nancy math.

Yessss, I got my R7 Bazel GL from Kulve.

Still have plenty left to collect. Still hoping to get that R7 Kirin SnS and the R7 Kulu DB.

As for the R8 relics (and the R7s as well, to a lesser extent) I have the same problem as Imperfected : I don't get a whole lot of them and the ones I do get tend to be duplicates. I wouldn't mind a lower chance at R8 drops if it meant there was a higher chance at new weapons. Or maybe the option to meld weapons into other variants of the same weapon at the forge. Like how Diablo III does it with Kanai's Cube.

Best thing to do to get a Bazel gem? I've done a 15m investigation a ton of times with a gold reward and nothing.

I really wanna make that Bazel LS, looks/sounds amazing.

I might just have to use a gold print if I get annoyed enough.

Melding with prints is obviously the easiest way. Other than that, investigations with Gold and Silver rewards and breaking as many parts and cutting the tail for bonus rewards.

I feel the same. I logged on this morning and just wasn't feeling it. It was nice that Capcom released Dante's outfit and sword. But, until they come out with another Siege type event I won't be playing too often.

I was ready to call it quits at around the 300 hour mark. But after a week of no MHW they release Kulve Taroth and I'm hooked again ever since.

I don't know if I will keep playing after the Kulve event is over. Maybe I'll just stick to the event quests every week/two weeks until a new monster gets released.

Yeah that DMC event

For the first three monsters it was piss easy with my gear and flashpods made Rathian a complete joke it spent most of my match on the ground stunned with me doing my demon mode combo

Then Teostra came and oh my god that took work

At least I did it solo

Just did a tempered Kushala investigation to mix things up and to 'train' for the Sapphire Star quest. Hard to believe Tempered Kushala, of all monsters, is the first I manage to kill mid-mount. You know, with the 1 damage stabs.

I thought they upped the decoration rewards of TEDs, though? It gave me three level 6 feystones, awarding me with — wait for it — the much coveted Bomber, Gobbler and Medicine decos. Yaaaaaaaaay.

Finally saw one.

I finally saw someone set up a trap and try to tranq an elder dragon when it was near death. I always heard about them, but I never saw them until now.

And of course it was Nergi and of course he ate shit immediately after, but hey, no one's perfect.

Haha. What can I say, I also had no idea Elder Dragons couldn't be captured the first time I fought Nergigante. I'm not sure the game even tells you, aside from that one loading screen tip.

The weird thing was that the guy had beaten the story mode. I want to say he'd beaten Tempered Kirin too but I can't remember for sure. Either way, his HR was high enough that I'd like to thing he would've known better.

I've seen it yesterday during Code Red event when a guy tried to capture Teo. When he set the trap we all used clap gesture hahah

Technically "upgraded" could mean "from crap to crap+".

I've done it before on accident when trying to scroll through to a different item. Maybe he hit the wrong button

Edit: Oh, nevermind. I didn't read that he tried to tranq it too.

Zero Sum Discharge continues to be annoyingly risky. It's, like, a 50/50 chance of eating shit with it on Kulve when she's knocked down.

Does adding status decorations to weapons without the corrisponding status do anything? Like adding Poison Attack gems to a build where the weapon is just raw damage/+element?

Another group quit as Kulve shed her mantle on pursuit level 2. I completely get the logic behind it, but for some reason it annoys the fuck out of me. One of them at least had the decency of saying something, but the first left before we could even finish gathering the tracks and the third actually went into the fourth area with me until I paralysed Kulve and he suddenly left, too.

When I got back to the hub they had just started a level 5 siege, but apparently me completing the quest bumped it to 6. So I decided to try to solo Kulve, which went better than expected. The only problem is to get her mantle to glow. I tried to mount her, but easier said than done with a hammer.

But I managed in the end and the game decided to reward me with 11 shitty R6 relics and not a single R7 or R8 one. Blegh.

Busting my way through the Elder Dragon fights now that I finally (finally) understand the mechanics behind Charge Blade and got the timing down for its sword charge. This is a pretty fun weapon to use. Killed my first Kushala Daora with the Super Elemental Discharge, so I'm starting to think this may end up my main weapon for the postgame. The mix of offensive power and defense is just too good to pass up.

Two down, one to go.

No, it only works if your status/element decorations are the same as your weapon status/element. Poison decorations will work with poison weapons, fire decorations with fire weapons etc.

Nah, the change was for streamstones:
  • To coincide with the Tempered Monster's increased resistance to flash pods, the special rewards from Tempered Monster Investigations have been reworked to produce better results.
Threat Level 1 Special Rewards will now produce Warped Feystones.
Threat Level 2 Special Rewards will now produce Shining Streamstones.
Threat Level 3 Special Rewards will produce Shining Streamstones more frequently.
