Has anyone confirmed what is up with the 7.7 GB "patch" that the game wants you to download from a fresh cart?

Great OT, and I'm excited to pick up the game Friday. Is there a reason Cerium won't be doing anymore OT's? His ones on the old site were really nice.
Already own on PS4 so no reason to buy on my switch, but happy for all the switch only owners here

Who said that? He's one of the core founders of ResetEra and probably lacks the time to make OTs anymore.
Really interested to see how this launch goes! Would love for this to be a surprise hit for the holiday — if for no other reason, than to hear Kimishima mention Doom at the next investor meeting. :-)

This is such a weird fit for the Switch. I might buy it even though I own the PC version though.
Ugh I really want this but might have to hold off on this and Skyrim till early next year. Xenoblade getting the last of my budget :(
They're not offering release date delivery, so keep your expectations in check.
I hope I'll get it tomorrow. I can't wait. And not having been spoiled with 60Fps versions I guess I'll greatly enjoy this!
the OP is very good but i take exception with "story is not why you play doom" because the story in this game rules
I am quite tempted to get it at launch, even if I don't currently have time for it. I've been wanting to play it for a while, and I sincerely want to support the effort of porting it on Switch... and buying digital at launch is the most support I could give. But of course, it's 60/70€?

Yeah, Best Buy GCU is the best investment for any Switch owner (if you're able to get it) that looks to buy a bunch of games physical. It's too good! I have a $5 and $15 discount credit and the latter is going to Doom.
$47.99 due to GCU 20% discount - $15 credit = $32.99.
This is a weird fit only if you stick to the clichés and tropes about Nintendo hardware.

I want to get this but I'm already getting Skyrim this month. I wish they had released it earlier or something. Oh well, I'll get it a little down the road. Great OT also!
This is the most amazing thing I've seen on the internet for the last few days.
I have DOOM for PC, but never got the time and chance to really dive into it, so I'm actually just one hour in. I'll probably get it for the Switch tomorrow. It's 60€, but I really missed a straight forward, linear game for the Switch, so that's ok, since it's gonna scratch that itch.
Honest question, but does that happen on Nintendo platforms? There's plenty of Switch games I'd like to try but am not willing to pay full price for, I'd certainly give Doom another go as I LOVED it the first time around.
It depends really. USF2 hasn't seen any price drop for Black Friday but Mario Rabbids will be. DBXV2 is gonna be $19.99 from 50. I don't think it will happen until maybe 6 months earliest though where it may see 30$ depending on sales at retail.
