E: OH BOI, Workflow got an iPhone X and iOS 11 upgrade! https://www.macstories.net/ios/work...ion-iphone-x-support-and-more-ios-11-changes/
I'm so happy Apple is keeping this alive after the acquisition.

I forget which thread I was in where I wondered aloud if we'd get a Workflow update... very reassuring that we did!

I use Workflow a lot but haven't dug into really making my own yet beyond a couple OmniFocus related ones I kludged together. This sign of life is the nudge I need to finally figure it all out.

All I did to pair my Apple Watch from my iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone X was use the iPhone transfer process at start up. Incredibly awesome way to upgrade to new phone models. Super simple.

Does anyone have any experience with that "Android to iPhone" app that Apple released a bit ago? Is it worth using to try and transfer my stuff?

reading the reviews for some of the wireless charging pads has been quite comical... They range from AMAZING, OMGWTFBBQ!!!!, HOW DID I EVER LIVE WITHOUT THIS to ARRRRGGGHH, WHY DOES IT TAKE FOREVER TO CHARGE THIS!!!!!!! I wonder why people thought that wireless charging pads would offer a faster charging solution than the original method of just connecting the phone to an outlet? I am still interested in picking up a wireless charging pad, and right now the mophie pad is the front runner for me. I do not need the phone to charge as fast as some others seem to need it to, so I do not care... but its pretty funny reading those negative reviews...

I know I asked a few pages back, but have any of you X users settled on a wireless solution yet?

I used a Mophie battery case that supported Qi with my 7, so I've been on the bandwagon for a while. I have a 3 coil stand-style charger made by Tylt (the Vü), and a Mophie charging pad that was free with the case. I forget the product name, but it's the smallest pad they offer.

My advice would be to get a stand-style charger. My old Qi case was magnetised, and would adhere to the sweet spot of the flat pad for an accurate charging connection. However I've noticed that positioning my X on the small pad is much more difficult without the magnet. I'll even find that I'll establish a good charging connection, and then observe that for some reason the connection was lost over night, and never reestablished. Not sure if the issue is the phone, the pad, or my own positioning error; but I've never had this problem with the Tylt charger (it's as flawless with my X as it was with my 7), and I imagine a big part of that is because it's almost impossible to position the phone incorrectly.

Just something to bear in mind. I'm going to replace the Mophie pad with this, since the Tylt charger is much more expensive, and I think the key is having three coils and a stand configuration.

Edit: updated the link to a charger that specifically doesn't have bright LED lights; better for nightstand.

I'm flying to Canada next month from the UK. Might pick an X up when I'm there since it's cheaper.
Could buying it in a different country cause me problems if I needed it serviced or such? I imagine the only thing different in the box would be the charging brick right?
Shouldn't have any issues if you buy direct from Apple.

I don't think you have to unpair/repair if the Watch is on watchOS4 and both iPhones are on iOS 11.

But yes, the traditional method is unpair Watch, backup phone, move to new iPhone, repair watch

Ah ha! I was still on watchOS 3.x.x when I did the transfer.

I kept my iPhone 7+ on 10.3.3 until the X arrived, to maximize the "golly gee, this is new" feeling, so while I did update the 7+ to get the iOS 11 transfer feature I didn't think to update the watch at the same time.

Its 45 degrees here.

SHe is setting up a replacement...however if they deem I did something to the phone (which i didnt) they are going to use one of my apple cares and charge me 99$.... kinda bullshit the phone is 6 days old and should be covered by a 14 day warranty

It's definitely useful. I've used to to move some family over from Android.
It'll get pictures moved over, auto download some of the same apps, etc. Doesn't do everything, but it's worth it for the photos really.

What? There's a 14 days return period if not bought on a contract. There's a 1 year limited warranty. If you fucked up your phone, like broke it, that is what AppleCare+ is for. There shouldn't be a grace period of 14 days to get away with anything just because it's new...

Right. So within 14 days I found a hardware defect on my phone. That shouldn't use AppleCare

Gmail, Google Maps, Chase App, Waze, the list goes on, have yet to update to the X screen. I really expected some of the bigger apps to have updated already :/

There's people in Vancouver complaining about it being unresponsive... um, that's kinda big since it's not that cold and I can use my 6 fine outside.

Ouch, that sucks. Hopefully Apple will iron out the issues with the X-2 (or whatever they will call it). That thing would be pretty useless for us in Montreal with our -25C winters...

My phone is still in Korea. Don't know how it will get here by Friday lol. Is it actually that fast? The delivery date says Nov 10 but I'm in Canada. First Apple product I ever bought.

Next thing you know it doesn't work with gloves either

Edit: considering bend gate was bogus I'll wait to see what happens

If it gets hot it shuts down. That's not a defect.

Bendgate wasn't bogus, trust me

feels good to live in a state that doesn't get fucked by winter huh

Well, at least a part of the state that doesn't get fucked by winter for sure. The last couple years we haven't even really had a winter at all

Got a notification from istocknow and immediately ordered the phone this morning.

Managed to get it after work. Loving it so far. I really need to buy a case and screen protector ASAP.

Feels like a huge jump from a 5s

I just got my phone today and also had issues typing when I went outside in -10C weather, but it seemed fine once I got into my slightly less cold truck. This wasn't an issue with my iPhone 5...

Well it seems that AppleCare said that if they find DAMAGE to the phone, they will use one of your incidents. Not that if there is a hardware/manufacturer defect. Within 14 days you have the choice to return/exchange/go through warranty...What you are assuming makes no sense.
