Does anyones TV have a black screen and green flash when starting up a HDR game?? But AVR says resolution error for 2 seconds then its fine.

Not sure if the S did that when booting HDR
It's just your tv changing to HDR mode. It's normal. I get something similar on my LG C7. Your receiver is just trying to figure out the signal as the tv switches.

Gears 4 won't launch if my only option is to redownload then fuck that. I honestly don't think I can play through that campaign again anyways.

I did not. I only deactivated the old one after my new one was in.

Speaking of...

Anyone else have an EXCEPTIONALLY fast activation time for the preview progam Alpha stream?

I entered my console into the Alpha stream last night, and within 5 minutes I was already prompted for the update.

I either caught the activation wave at just the right time, or they're blanket accepting all Xbox One X upgrade activations for the time being.

I was expecting at least 24 hours, but man I was surprised to see that update pop up that fast.

I'd say no. It's not worth it. If you have an existing xbox one at 1080p, you won't feel a difference at all. The $100 discount seems .. low? I traded mine at EBGames (here in Canada) and got $200 off the price of the One X, so even there it feels like you're getting the short end of the stick.

At best for you, a One S would be a worthwhile upgrade, but even that is negligible. You're not utilizing 4K, you're not going to see much benefit at all, and being strapped for cash, its def a need vs want right now. I'd hold out until you're in a better financial position, or are in a spot to utilize the extra power of the console.

Yeah I registered and then restarted (for unrelated reasons) and got hit by the update prompt on startup

So with Game Pass it just downloads the entire game right? So I could activate the trial and download whatever is on there and buy an actual copy of the games later and not have to download anything extra?

Aye that's correct.
You can even download trials of games that may be in game pass before you activate it, maybe saves some time for people with not so great broadband.

I call BS on silent system . When theird no noise I can hear the fan. Its low sounding but you can hear it.

But when any game volune is going you cant hear a thing
Nope.

Only time mine makes a noise is during game installations. During play it sounds like an s or Pro in standby mode. I have played Halo 5, Gears 4, Evil Within 2, Titanfall 2, cod ww2 and F7 so far.

My friends are also saying the same thing.

I just casually strolled into my nearest Walmart on the way home from work and got one.

Now, PLEASE tell me that I can transfer data between systems directly, and I don't actually need an external hard drive or to set them up on my home network. They both have USB ports so it seems completely absurd to me to have such a runaround to transfer data.

Anyone saying this is quieter than an OG Xbox One needs to go see a doctor. That's straight up impossible simply because of the design. A large fan spinning at low RPM will always produce less sound than whatever is inside the X.

Now if you insist on it your OG was defective or you mean the small annoying 60mm fan in the power brick. Which was easily eliminated by removing it as it wasn't necessary. The OG One is without a doubt the quieter than both a S or X.
I was so happy the day that my powerbrick fan died. Couldnt use instant on cause of that annoying fan.

Use Network transfer, you'll need both consoles hooked up on your home network work to do it.

PSA: To anyone experiencing issues with sound while machine is off.

If you turn off "instant-on"

You no longer have that annoying sound, that seemed to work for me.

I didn't have this issue on S model but yeah

I was about to return this shit until I found this out.

You actually don't want to do this if you want automatic updates, downloading ect. You're turning the machine completely off every time instead of putting it in sleep mode. The reason you hear sounds when it's off is because it's not actually off yet, it's still doing stuff in the background

close your porn windows.

oh wait... nvm, nope no idea.

[mine's smooth as fkin silk]

It had to be retuned...I gotta wait a week for a new console. It bit the dust before I could even play a game.

Is yours a Scorpio?
I need reassurance from Scorpio owners that I'm making the right choice sticking with it over the regular.

Seeing how that noise neve went away, i prefer it this way.

Either i have great hearing but it was annoying.

It does take too long to start though.

I have a pretty big problem. The Xbox One X is always outputting a signal through HDMI to my HDMI Switch, this makes it impossible to use the switch for both my PS4 Pro and my Xbox One X. The PS4 Pro when turned off does not output anything to the HDMI Switch, The Xbox One X however, does. This means if I use the PS4 while the Xbox One X is off, i cant get a signal during HDR games as their isnt enough bandwidth. Anybody have a solution to this?

So a little update, it appears the Xbox One X outputs a signal through HDMI for about 5 minutes after being turned off. I am not sure why that is the case but it is.

Is the Xbox in instant on mode? Maybe switch to power save if it is.

Welp, gonna have to go exchange mine. This controller freezing mess isn't going to fly. Didn't drop $500 so I could fuck with that every time I turn the console on.

Hey, question for the Dolby Atmos users:

How are you connecting the headphones? Are you just connecting them to the 3.5mm jack on the controller? I don't have a receiver, it my tv does have 3.5mm jack on it.

Oh, my atmos headphones are 100% USB

I think it says you can use the 3.5mm connection

The 3.5mm port on an Xbox controller is much better in quality and codec than the bt 2.2 audio on a DualShock 4

So I was lurking on the AVSforums KS8000 thread and came across this :

If you have your Xbox set to 8bit, it will auto switch to 10bit for HDR. I have my S set to 8bit and it definitely switches to 10bit when playing HDR games or videos. I expect the X to behave the exact same way. When setting the Xbox to 10bit, non-HDR material will output at 4:2:2. Leaving it set at at 8bit will output 4:4:4

I always thought that you had to select 10 bit manually but evidently not.

Any LG B6/C6/B7/C7 owners?

Do I set my range to PC RGB I remember reading a huge reddit post and settings on our sets saying leave it at standard

Which I thought was weird since our TVs as far as I know can do the full range of 0-255 for black and light levels

My screen will flash in and out when switching to HDR. Sony X900e. No errors though
If your screen is flashing, there is a good chance you still have Motionflow and/or other image processing enhancements enabled in HDR mode. I too have a Sony TV and faced that same issue until I disabled everything. Also, HDR and SDR have separate settings and you cannot modify the HDR settings unless you are currently displaying HDR content.

My Scorpio edition just arrived from Amazon! What a wild ride this has been from all the issues with my pre-order from Best Buy.

Well I got this thing up and running about 6 hours ago and have barely come up for air.

I have been trying every game in my library and I am just blown away.

this has been the greatest gaming day release I have ever experienced. so sick and tired of the new generations when you come home with one or 2 games. to be able to play15 (or 20) enhanced games right out of the box and have everything from Xbox 360 games up to brand new Xbox enhance games has been a treat.

the graphics are finally no compromises. you can feel the power. there's no tearing, the frame rate the 4 K, I'm just thrilled. I've been playing games for 40 years and I've been waiting for a day like this on a console.

True, I've loved every console launch but there is something magical with what MS/Xbox have done for all the BC titles and having a solid list of enhanced games while revisiting ones you've played before. There's even games I held off playing until the X1X launched e.g. Witcher III and Quantum Break. It's brilliant having a massive library to call upon. I'm blown away by the clarity of this console, the games its running and I'm yet to bring home a new 4K TV still.

Can't wait for some titles over the course of the next 1-2 years as they get more out of dev cycles for this console.

So yeah, I'd recommend it at any price.

I picked QB up for AUD$28 as 50% with gold. This screenshot finally tipped me over the edge and I get to play QB in all its glory for the first time.

Love how Halo 5 now looks.

Shit yeah, this game is insanely beautiful. Imma do a campaign play through for this and TF2.
