Well it wouldn't have to happen systematically, just when something is worth sharing to the community at large. A short video in the same format explaining why there wouldn't be Reaction Shot and Friend Code podcasts this month and reminding people of the goals would have worked really well I think. And when they do finally buy all that gear, a short video from Jones keeping us posted would be really cool. That kind of thing.

If these short updates do around 30k views each, I'm pretty sure that's way more than any Patreon post or Twitch stream could ever do. Plus, it's easily shareable when people ask questions related to it. And like I said, people love being talked to directly.

I agree, and I even think it could be positive to make and post toYoutube short vídeos (about 2-3 minutes long) informing about their Patreon situation when they reach certain goals. I mean, a video with Jones saying they have reached 44K and what that implies ("next month there will be Trailer Jones, hopefully", and explainin what Trailer Jones is to all those that don't know it yet) and also reminding there're still more goals to achieve, and what achieving them would mean to EZA and their fans (subsrcribers/viewers that could eventually become patrons). This would reach a higher audience than anything on their Patreon, and it's the perfect opportunity to promote it (and way more natural than doing or insisting on it on any of their shows: Podcast, Frame Trap, the streams...).

I don't know, it's just an idea, I don't even know if doing something like that is faesible or not.

Btw, congrats for the 44K! New goal: 46K, let's go!

It's be cool to see the Allies do a full playthrough of a Game in bits and pieces. I was thinking about how fun it would be to have them do a Bethesda RPG like Fallout 3 or New Vegas and take it an hour at a time.

So Damiani spends an hour attempting to plough through the main quest, it gets passed to Ian who does a full character makeover and sells all their equipment, and then it gets passed to Kyle who spends the entire hour moving them as far out of the path of the main quest as possible.

The series could last >200 hours.
How do you keep doing this? Why do you keep giving us the greatest ideas that don't become reality? Are you [REDACTED]?

So I'm watching the latest Tabletop Escapades and just reached the part where Kada rolls a natural 1 on a powerbomb attempt and in my mind I go: Don't let me down here, Huber...

"The troll reverses into a DDT."

Beautiful! Four and a half stars! Only thing missing was a Billy Kidman reference.

It's really hard to agree with this when the video "A Quick Word Frm Jones" stands at 35k views, a 100/1 like ratio and an incredibly positive comment section. People love quick video updates on Youtube, they like being addressed to directly, and it will always be more effective than a Patreon post. After watching that video I hoped the "quick word from Jones" format would return regularly, a sort of condensed Cup of Jones, to quickly and easily adress the community.
Yeah that wasn't planned at all, he just had to say something, but fair point and it actually does line up with some thoughts I'd had in a completely different context. So I think there's a middle ground here that's worth discussing. I do think there was a bit of unintentional secret sauce in that Jones was so exhausted and overwhelmed that people looked at the thumbnail and thought it was going to be bad news, only to be surprised by the evening's events.

Lmao I never even considered the possibility of people thinking that video could be negative. I can totally see that if you don't have the context of them having had a successful fundraiser.

The title "A quick word from Jones" is very ominous out of context as well

I was listening to the EZA podcast this week, and while I enjoy their talk, it is always surprising to me how unaware they are of the gaming industry. I know they have some busy schedules, but gaming is their job. I would expect the EZA guys to be more knowledgeable of games, trends and such.

Yeah more communication with their youtube audience is a must. That Jones video is definitely helping with the Patreon climb.

Latest podcast was.... not good. Felt like Bosman just wanted to do a L&R/Q&A episode - which he should have done instead of brushing off news/topics for a couple of minutes just to keep the regular podcast structure and call in half time + L&R ASAP.

Sometimes it seems like there's a lack of understanding about what EZA is actually selling. I can go to any website or podcast and get the same info they are discussing. What I can't get at IGN is kyle, blood, brand, Ben, don, huber, ian, damiani or Jones. It's the personalities that set them apart and I find it frustrating when they are unwilling to put group streams on the main channel for whatever reason. A clip of Jones talking for 20 minutes gets more views than some reviews have. Put the personalities to the front and you will find success, especially on youtube.

This is just me armchair quarterbacking. I don't actually know much about this stuff outside of but feelings and what little I've read online.

I means what it means. Their complete lack of mobile and PC gaming is due to huge disinterest or pure lack of knowledge? They didn't even know who Tencent was. I have been listening the podcast since it first aired, and they are very good at talking about games, but within their Sony, MS and Nintendo bubble.

CTRL F "PC" "mobile" "tencent"

How do you expect people to know what you mean when you never explain what the hell you were talking about in first place?

As much as I love them, I have learned to not have expectations at all when it comes to PC coverage. At first it was a bit annoying I'll admit, but I accepted it long ago. They're the guys who all but ignored PUBG for almost a year and then did the bare minimum to acknowledge it and are now somehow completely hooked on Fortnite. I think that says it all.

In all seriousness, congrats on all your recent achievements. I'm very happy things are finally looking up, and to think that the Spoiler Mode with Barlog isn't even out yet. You're soon gonna get another big bump in numbers on all fronts.

I mean they really don't do PC stuff anyways, coverage wise. I find it fine, but I'm in that camp that just really doesn't care about what's happening on the PC.

Maybe they don't either, and that's cool. Better to stick with what they know then to try and stumble through stuff they're not keen on.

(I mean they still will but whatever :p)

Ben and Ian play a lot more PC centric titles than the rest of the Allies I think, and when they are on podcasts there's more PC talk usually.

Ian hasn't been streaming as much recently but he usually streams PC stuff.

Plus it's not like they have resources that are unlimited, they push out content at a pretty steady clip. I'm sure if they had people who could take some of the editing load they could cover more stuff and expand from the usual like the big 3.

I agree. I distinctly remember someone in the HoG comments saying he wished they would do more stuff all together, because he was unaware there was another channel and that regular group streams were a thing.

What do you think will be EZA's growth rate from now on?
Do you think we'll reach stable 46k by the end of E3? Will they hit 50k by the time EZA in Concert 3 hits?

They're definitely getting over 46k for E3, maybe inching closer to 50k, then the Summer slump will inevitably come and they'll be back to a 42-44k per month. Then next year we'll have the usual Spring overhaul and they'll finally reach a stable 50k with that year's E3. Unless something big happens in the meantime or they're more constant with creating hot new shows and changing stuff around. The 6 episode seasons of shows could really help in that regard.

How do you keep doing this? Why do you keep giving us the greatest ideas that don't become reality? Are you [REDACTED]?
Isn't that right? He gets our hopes up, only to leave ourselves devastated when we realize it's impossible.

If they make a concious effort to push Patreon (smartly of course) during E3, on top of the Barlog hype, the fundraiser's success and the new exciting Patreon goals (and the video that will come with them), then the sky's the limit. Feeling really good about EZA right now.

BTW the "Easy Allies 9-Hour Marathon to Get Better Stuff Before E3" video currently sits at 22,616 views on a channel that has 23,155 subscribers; if it were on the main channel it would probably get twice those views.

We've had this same 45k jump before. This is not uncharted territory here.

This could just be a temporary high. We don't know.

Right now, they need more Patrons, not more money from existing Patrons.

I 100% believe they should have some sort of Patreon exclusive E3 something. Maybe an after hours show. Maybe an exclusive camera angle, lol.

Something that they can push for E3. Saying "Hey, you love our E3 coverage, for a $1, you'll get some bonus discussion" or some shenanigans? Dunno.

What about for their podcast, at the end, they stay and extra 20 minutes and answer some LR questions, but ONLY for Patreon, forever. Its 20 minutes extra, and it is something to push at the end. "If you're a Patron and paying a $5, you get this podcast early, plus a special extended version with extra questions."

Cautious/measured optimism is a good place to be with EZA. I think they are fully capable of hitting all of their goals and doing really well, but I don't want to set myself up for disappointment if things don't work out that way this year.

I feel as though they've gone a bit too far in following the advice that led to them creating EZA Plays. Obviously it's good to put the streams there to avoid over-uploading on the main channel and being a victim to YT algorithms but for special streams like this one, they might as well go on the main channel. Not like this happens so many times that you'd get subscriber burn if people don't click.
(Hell I've said this here before but I think the Weekly Group Stream, and other non-regular group streams, should be on the main channel)

That's the great part about this whole thing, they've got 300 new patrons in 4 days and a half. That's a huge bump in a tiny timeframe.

Yeah, but still, they've had this number or near it. They just can't seem to hold it, thats the problem. I'm thinking this just might be a temporary high from the fundraiser. Bunch of twitch regulars going on to Patreon to help. Like, its great obviously, but I'm not sure we can say this number is going to be the new normal for them.

To chime in on the streams on the main channel. I think group stream do belong on the main channel, but there need to be a few changes to how they are before I think they can fit in on the main channel.

They need to have a larger window of the allies and make the game smaller, you can barely see them in the small window and on a phone its bad. The fundraiser one had a good ratio, but i thin they could make the game even smaller or the ally view taller?

And with the new equipment it will make the group streams look + sound so much better that it would be good enough production quality for the main channel.

I'm not sure if they do this already, but for EZA clips and any other highlight vids they could put a message directing people to Easy Allies Plays, and maybe a link in the description to the full video.

That way you don't "clog up" the main channel but still make people aware of the full videos available.
