FYI i posted it here because that game was ported by the same company that tried porting Ys8 at first and from what i understood remnants of their code is still in the games code. So yeah that and other threads i saw on other releases by NISA gives me the impression the support is going to be shortlived.

The PC port is a headache, but I'm trying to soldier through.

Can you change an ally's behaviour with two (i.e. Adol + Laxia) members in the party? I'm mashing Z (in and out of battle) and nothing's happening.

I don't understand why it crashes so much. I can play a couple hours without any problem and suddenly the game crashes no matter what I do. I disabled graphic options, replace the shader folder with the Steam version, set high priority of the app, I even tried to let only 2 proc cores (it worked for Nier Automata PC ver) but nope, when it happens, my only solution is to go elsewhere in the game and do something else then retry the area.

I really hope for a patch. I think I'll not buy the Switch version. I can't support this work.

Got my refund. Guess we'll never see a real apology from NISA (like they mean much anymore) or Falcom who at this point should say something but I assume they don't care.

I just wanna know why they decided to date the game when work was ongoing and why they didn't just delay it again when they knew it was still bad. My theory is they just wanted to get all the bad news out of the way about the PC version so it doesn't surround the release of the Switch version.

Hopefully it patched by the time it goes on sale somewhere so I can buy it cheap and all I can hope is NISA never touches another Falcom game.

Seriously, they delayed it twice already, they might as well had delayed it again. Giving it a date while work was ongoing also made no sense.

So I've been playing through the game on Inferno, PS4 version, just fine...

However, I'm in the midst of Chapter 5, when I noticed my save file says:

Chapter 5 Castaway Village <NORMAL>

I found this odd, and when I went to check the options, it's still definitely set to INFERNO. One of my old save files in Chapter 2 says [INFERNO] at the end of it (note it uses [] and not <>).

The last couple bosses have been fairly easy, but I can't tell if it's because the game is actually set to NORMAL or if I'm just doing good.

Is there any way to confirm? What's up with this?

There are a couple bosses that didn't get the HP boost they need for the higher settings around that point, I melted 1 in less than a minute

I just lowered the difficulty to NIGHTMARE to test and suddenly the monsters do much more damage.

Apparently my save file is just bricked. If I try to change the difficulty off of INFERNO it warns me that I won't be able to set it back to INFERNO, and then I can't. There seems to be no way to fix the game's difficulty back to INFERNO. The options screen shows it correct, but when I save or load it says <NORMAL>, and the enemies stay on NORMAL difficulty despite the options saying otherwise. I've probably been playing with it on this difficulty for quite some time without even knowing.

What a way to ruin this game. I ignored and didn't care about all the little bugs I've found up to this point, but this one is just unacceptable.

Yeah, this sounds like something that may have come up before back at the old place, when NA Ys VIII PS4 launched. No idea if this is an existing bug from the Japanese release (you'd think it'd be more known if it were) or something NISA broke.

Still, 128kbps music is kind of nostalgic in a way. Brings me back to 1999 when I was downloading Smash Mouth and The Offspring mp3s off of audiogalaxy.

Dunno if that really makes this any less stupid, though.

Considering they (seem) to have fixed the biggest issues, the question is even more apparent:

It's nice that they're doing that, but it's a bit annoying that people on GOG are getting left behind.

We haven't even got the last patch never mind the preview build fixes. X.x

someone recommended uncheck all cores but one in task manager - that solved all the crashing issues for me.
before i was crashing every 5 minutes, now i played 3 hours without a single crash

I don't expect Falcom to say anything about the whole Nisa PC port. I mean, they didn't say anything about the crappy localisation even after the e-mail campaign a few months back, so...

they won't release a statement about this themselves, it would probably scare away potential publishers for the future if they see how public they take a stand against partners. But they certainly know between the abysmal review score on Steam and big Japanese media outlets picking it up from the get go.
And there is a reason that NISA finally started working on their port. It's just fucked up they made this a paid public beta.
