It's decent. Great art and writing, but it's a bit "legacy" as far as a VR experience goes. It's all gaze-based, which is a bit of a bummer.
Definitely worth it if you like Tim's work.
Are you new to VR?
When i first started to work on VR i think the first couple of times i got the worst headache ever. There is a ramp of endurance that i had to build up. Now its not a problem. DS was designed to minimize the nausea feeling with the locomotion we use, so it might just be your sensibility to using the design. That, or maybe the pressure of the headset on the bridge of your nose? I know when i started using the headset, depending on the one it would get some uncomfortable feeling until i got used to the hardware.
Thanks for the reply. I've had my Vive about six months now, and I seem to do fine teleporting in various games but my attempts at direct movement lead to queasiness. Some people have suggested that using Natural Locomotion is a way to ease into direct movement, but like I said, any indoor situation where the walls are close by (be it DS or Skyrim) brings on the problem as the walls move by. I had a similar experience years ago with Mirrors Edge on PC...I was fine outside, but narrow rooms, corridors, and stairways were a problem because the game required you to move fast. I have no problem with pancake corridor-type FPS as long as I can move at my own rate, so it's not like I'm really susceptible to motion sickness. I think in VR my body is just too sensitive to the disconnect with moving through indoor VR space while my real body is still.
edit: Incidentally, I find the Vive very comfortable to wear, but if I have it on a bit too long I'll feel the pressure on the back of my head, but that usually takes about an hour.
That's the trade off for well crafted beat maps which Beat Saber obviously has from the trailers. I like Soundboxing a lot but relying on community made maps is really hit or miss to the point that sometimes I don't feel like wading through the selections. It would be nice if BS could get more songs though.I feel the same way - when Soundboxing has literally thousands of songs to do almost the same thing to, a limited pool of around 10 songs seems pretty underwhelming.
Having used the Pro for a good amount now, here are my thoughts:
1. Resolution bump is legit.
2. I'm not as big of a fan of the "deluxe" audio strap as others. Removing the on-board speakers (since I use Bose headphones) makes it better but I honestly believe I'd prefer going back to the original strap. It's a little easier to put the entire thing on and off and with less plastic it's lighter. I think the loss of slightly better weight distribution wouldn't bother me. However, at this point I have the strap on the Pro adjusted to how I like it and it's quite comfortable. Also, since they're not swappable (this deluxe strap is not the same as the one you could put on the original VIVE), I'd have to do some custom work and lose the ability to sell my original HMD, so I doubt I'm going to bother.
3. God-rays seem to be more pronounced on the Pro, at least in some games.
4. Going down to one cable from HMD to link box makes a difference.
5. No issues using the original base stations and controllers.
Bottom line is this: if you have $800 burning a hole in your pocket and you plan to get the Pro anyway, it's an appropriate purchase. Otherwise, you can wait.
Thanks for the answer! I guess I'll wait what Oculus will do in the near future.
Before a possible investment in a new headset, I'll move into my new house in one and a half months. First project will be an entertainment room with a dedicated VR space. I'm hyped.
They're planning to support custom songs in Beat Saber (not auto-generated songs):

Yeah, wait for at least a more definitive announcement if it's a must-have feature for you. That's good news at least, guess I'll hold off my purchase until then. I might have to finally buy Audioshield or look into Soundboxing.
Not that I know of.
I own about 25 of them already, and you almost can't go wrong with any of the featured titles and most of the games in the "More" section. What are the must haves on Steam? I want to get a couple since there is the VR Spring sale now. I haven't spent a dime on a VR game yet (played most of the good free ones + Fallout 4 I got free with the Vive) since I was waiting for a sale like this.
The dev says approximately $20 on twitter
Downward Spiral: Horus Station is on its last stretch and I thought I would raise some awareness of it here. Even tho the game has a flat version that can be played with K+M or a controller, the best immersive experience would be in VR. So this seems like a good place to post.

There are a whole bunch of previews and articles I can link of people that have tried the game, as well as some Dev Diaries and a 17 min demo of the game running on PC.
I'll be happy to answer any questions you guys have on the game if interested.

I got Duck Season, the gun sounds are great and the it brings back the nostalgia but is there much content here?
I think there's a lot of neat stuff, but it can be real grindy to see it all, seemingly. I haven't seen everything for this reason.
Thanks! Yeah, these all look pretty good. I'm really enjoying Serious Sam VR TFE, so I'm gonna pick up that Croteam bundle for $50. Got a couple of others picked out as well, but I don't want to go over $100 so this is gonna be hard. All weekend to decide though.I own about 25 of them already, and you almost can't go wrong with any of the featured titles and most of the games in the "More" section.
I would say 4 to 5 hrs. Depending on the pace. If you play coop maybe 5 to 6. Across 8 chapters. This is the full realization of a game from the vertical slice that was prologue. How long is it? I played the prequel but it was quite short. I like how you move around with the jet gas gun thingy
I tried it briefly during my Viveport free trial. I only got through the tutorial and then a few minutes more. Personally wasn't too impressed. It was very janky. My first go at the tutorial, it bugged out and something dropped to the floor, leaving me unable to pick it up to proceed. Maybe there's some workaround, but I couldn't find it.Island 359 is on sale, and has decent reviews. Anyone here played it? Trailer doesn't look great but it seems to be the best dino VR game on steam.
I bought Invisible Hours on sale a while ago but finally booted it up. It's cool so far. I like the idea. It's a great VR experience so far.
Is Pavlov all fast paced PvP? I freaking suck at multiplayer fps in VR so bad. I'm just physically not quick enough lol

Also I bought Pinball FX2 VR for $6 on Steam and it's also fun to just get the base tables at $2 a piece. Pinball translates really well to VR. I am using an Xbox controller w/ Rift though and it seems to need to be booted in Steam not Oculus Home for the controller to work correctly. But, get over that and it's great to have the VR and depth perception of Pinball. Too bad additional table choice seems to have dried up.
Which VR FPS did you suck at?
Pavlov is kinda medium speed. You can also play against bots, which only go from easy to medium as a challenge, really. It can be real fun to do go akimbo against the bots and such.
Is the Dead Ninja Warriors VR Bundle worth it?
Eternity Warriors looks really neat.
Also looking for recommendations for a "mess around and have fun with" VR game... like a "be a monster" or such kind of thing. Sandboxy fun! Thanks! :)
haven't played vanishing, but I enjoyed Mage's Tale. Its roughly 10 hours long with a balance of puzzle solving, combat and exploration.
Onward and REC room are the first that come to mind. I play a lot of operations in onward but its so hard to get into multiplayer since everyone already knows all the hiding spots on every map.
Thanks, think I'll give it a shot with the 2-hour return window in mind then.I tried it briefly during my Viveport free trial. I only got through the tutorial and then a few minutes more. That's a hard one. They're pretty different. Vanishing Realms is shorter and focuses mostly on shield + melee combat. It's really satisfying slower paced combat where you block and parry and wait for openings. It also has bow and arrow and some spell casting but that's kind of secondary.
One thing I like about Pavlov is that it's fun even when you're dieing. Just go in to a team deathmatch game or any other where you respawn and it won't really matter if you're doing well or not. Shooting the guns alone is pretty satisfying and so is every kill even if you die 4 times out of 5 encounters. Onward is a good game, but I don't have a lot of fun with it since a lot of rounds I don't even get a shot off and end up spending most of the game at the death camp lol. Pavlov is a lot faster even in the single spawn Search and Destroy modes so dieing isn't that much of an issue. Is Pavlov all fast paced PvP? I freaking suck at multiplayer fps in VR so bad. With the Steam sale, I'm interested in picking up a rhythm title. Can anyone recommend AudioShield vs. Airtone, or am I better off waiting for Beat Saber?
ahh... god damnit. And here I thought I'd be safe from this Steam Sale considering I've been spending all my time in SkyrimVR, and plan on keeping there for another good 40+ hours... I might actually get this now.Bought Mages Tales.
Heads Up. The 25% Mages Tale Coupon that people got works on the -25% the game is off now, so you get it for around 45% off.

I wouldn't consider Racket NX a rhythm game. That said, it's pretty good.I recommend Thumper. If you are into breaking a sweat I would recommend BOXVR as well. I also have Airtone, Audioshield and Racket. You can't go wrong with any of them. Airtone is harder for me (kind of like Guitar Hero) than Audioshield and I like how my own music matches Audioshield (play on harder difficulty is better) but Airtone is more polished. Racket is more like the old Breakout game and is better with other people. I am also really eager to get Beat Saber though. Sorry I didn't really make a decision for you because I like them all, lol.
