Just tried to play some Wipeout and noticed there's an 6gb update to 1.05. I did some quick searching but couldn't find any info on it. Anyone know what it's about?

Ay, when you think pirate, you be thinking of flying between trees with dragons, arrr.
Yeah, that's just weird all over that one.
Also, given you're flying between/around trees, you're flying really slowly. Too slow for a fixed wing aircraft.
I suspect it started out as a dragon flying game.

It fixes the 'problem' where you can use VR ships while playing on a TV...

6gb to disable functionality seems excessive though.

It would be interesting if the next iteration of Move with analogues and newer tech overall would be the standard PS5 controller with heavy emphasis that motion controls will be entirely optional/nonexistent for all their big games and DS4 continued to be supported as the normal controller option. Maybe even have some sort of plastic thingy that you can combine with the two halves to make a more traditional pad Switch joycon style.

I don't think it will happen but it would offer some benefits. First of all on topic of course it makes it easier for people to jump into VR from both developer and consumer standpoint. You would know that the entire userbase had access to same motion controls so no split userbase there and it would be cheaper and less intimidating to jump into VR wagon if you didn't have to worry about getting new controllers.

It's also really comfy formfactor for controllers since you don't need to keep your hands together. I haven't touched Switch yet but I have fond memories of how the Wiimote+Nunchuck felt and that was with the annoying cable in the middle. It gets bit of a bad rep due to being associated with all the waggle shovelware but maybe the Switch will help bring that style back a bit.

And of course optional motion controls would be really cool for shooters and stuff.

I think it would be amazing if they used the Split Controller patent they filed a few years ago. It would certainly lower the barrier for adoption and make it easier on the developers.

However, having finger tracking would be best

Bought it and played through it yesterday. Took about 1 hour, maybe less. The game has some really funny dialouge (even the tutorial) but there was way to much yelling in the game. Basically several characters yelling over each other in an obnoctious way so I had to keep switching the volume. It was interesting tho.
Thanks. 1 hour seems a bit sparse for the asked price. I'll wait for a deeper discount.

It's one of my favorite PSVR games so far, so I would say yes. The gameplay and graphics are very good, and there is loot and skill customization. The gear doesn't show, but the weapons do and you can earn alternate outfits. It has one of the most hardcore communities, most of which are fans of brutal difficulty and grinding, and typically are the same people that spent 100+ hours in diablo 2, 3, everquest, Bloodborne, etc. There are no micro transactions on the PSVR version, you gotta grind and earn that shit, and it ain't easy. Visually, it's one of the best looking VR games out, and just got even better last night. All I can say is that if you don't want to grind a lot then stay far far away, but otherwise this is a hidden gem, and they plan on adding more to it including co-op quests and new chapters/locations. I'm totally addicted and now have YT videos you can check out. Diablo and others offer deeper variety and customization, but this is the best VR has to offer right now.
Thanks. Looked up some videos and reviews but it seems too grindy for me and the overall style of the game isn't that appealing to me :-/

Pretty sure they've just fkd it up, honestly. Some regions got a tiny download that did the trick, apparently, others got the 6gb one. It's as if it's re-downloading the whole VR runtime.

No news from Golem since the delay a week before launch :(

Looks not good for the game....

There was some news a few months back. I think there were some new gameplay details (lean to move?) and story stuff (girl in hut on sick bed controls rock monsters?!). I'll see if I can find the site, probably UploadVR or similar.

Still, I agree it's been ominously quiet...

The developers said they didn't want to have a crazy crunch period so makes sense that it was delayed and relatively quiet and I'm fine with less bullshit like that (although they shouldn't have given a solid date in the first place). I assume we get the final date at E3 at very latest.

Happy to help! Yes it's crazy Grindy for sure haha. Fingers crossed they bring more dungeon crawlers to the platform , especially with multiplayer and depth like Diablo or something similar.

Just ordered my PSVR + Camera + GT Sports (I already have the game, though). Does this bundle comes with the "2nd gen" of the PSVR (HDR passthrough)?

I already have Dirt Rally VR, Driveclub VR, GT Sports, Wipeout (I have a G29 as well for those racers) plus Rush of Blood (PS+) and Bound. Probably getting Statik as well as its on sale for me.

I dont have the PS Move controllers yet, but will definitely get them when Dreams is released.I prefer to wait for a deal in the future (till summer). I really am not interested in playing some "VR experiences", those mehh games that are fun for the first 15 minutes or those that are 'nice to show to some guests" (I played some of these in a friend's house - on an Oculus - but the idea is the same) which is what I think I would end up playing (or not playing, actually) if I had the Moves already. Is there a good amount of games that are nice to be played (and replayed) with the move controllers?

I cant say for sure these days, but that bundle didn't have the new version before at least, sorry. I can tell you like racing games lol.

I don't agree with you and your opinion on VR experiences though, you really should give them a try. Most are pretty decent, and a lot of them are free anyway. As for Moves, you have Skyrim, Batman VR, The Invisible Hours, The Assembly, to name a few. You'll miss out on a lot of content if you don't get the Moves straight away imo.

Pretty sure the GT bundle comes with version 1, unless they've updated the bundle. If you have a HDR TV, there are workarounds to keep HDR.

I'd wait to play RoB until you've got the Moves. Other Move games I strongly recommend: Superhot, Ultrawings, Skyrim, Sprint Vector. I do recommend Arkham VR, even though it's short, it's not 15 minutes short though.

Enjoying my time with the PSVR

and the visuals are pretty decent on all the games i've played (Even Skyrim was fine)....with one lone exception

my only negative experience with graphics was Driveclub VR, I just couldn't get into at all.

For those who have played the VR portion of GT Sport and Driveclub VR, How much of a visual improvement is GT Sport over Driveclub?

Is it distinct or are they about the same?

I dont have an HDR TV, was just curious. I forgot I had bought Archangel a few weeks ago and I also have Starblood Arena. Superhot and Ultrawings seem cool, added them to my wishlist (I only buy digital games on sale). I am already changing my mind and looking for some Move controllers lol.

edit. Checked the Move Twin pack prices and found a flash sale (Fnac Spain) for 60 euros. I have 5% discount and also 10 euros credits that I was about to lose (few more weeks before they expire) and got them for 47, shipped. :D I'm ready.

Dirt Rally w/ VR is on sale on PSN. Does it make sense to buy without plans to get a wheel? I heard it doesn't support tilt steering with the DS4 (a la Driveclub VR).

I'm ashamed that I forgot about superhot, that's probably THE best way to show off the capabilities of VR in general and it has tremendous use for the Moves. Superhot is like zen mode for gaming.

Is The Invisible Hours Move-compatible? I just started it with the pad as I didn't even realise it had move support?

Edit - also is Rise of the Tomb Raider worth it for the VR content if you have already played the game elsewhere? It's only £12.99 at the moment on PSN.

TIH has support, yes. I've only completed chapter 1 so to speak but so far I'm quote happy with the controls. Nothing ground breaking or required but it does its job for sure. You are the opposite of me, I had no idea it supported the ds4 haha.

I haven't played Tomb Raider but I think it's on most people's avoid list due to lack of proper content, and possibly motion sickness-inducing iirc.

TR is not worth for VR content, well it's not worth also for the game in my hopinion... the prequel was better.
Anyway really, the VR content is not so good to play.

it's still a ton of fun with regular controls. Sense of speed is amazing and you will drive better with VR than without, for sure just because you can judge distances better and look into curves while sliding.

I enjoyed the VR part of Rise of the Tomb Raider - I also enjoyed the rest of the game. It's just about the same as the prequel, maybe a bit better gameplay, a bit worse story. ;)

The VR bonus is basically an hour long walking sim. If you don't expect any action, and have the game already, it's worth your time IMHO.

I concur, I enjoyed it too. Don't know if it's worth rebuying the game though.

Yeah, while I also found Rise Of The Tomb Raider disappointing compared to its predecessor, I'm very much in the minority; the general consensus is that Rise expands on what was good in the first game. VR-wise, though, I think everyone agrees the VR section is slight, not very interesting, and prone to provoking nausuea. For most, Rise is worth buying for the main game, but not for the limited VR content.

It's only the fact that it offers free locomotion, it does not do anything wrong there, unlike e.g. Here They Lie. And it was available at launch, so that might play a role why you seem to have heard about that. Because that topic was very much in the center of attention back then, less nowadays.

It's divided into four "acts", very much like a stage play. But you really need to keep everyone's actions in your head all throughout it - I'd recommend holding off until you can play it...um, I guess "monogamously".

So I loaded up Rec Room for the first time today and made an account. What's the best camera position for it? I know the game wants me to stand, but I'd rather not if at all possible. Also, I was loaded into a sort of tennis tutorial, with another player supposedly. The game said it was but I really couldn't tell if it was a friendly human being helping me, or an AI partner with voice lines. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

That's another player, or it was for me. We both played terribly, and while I had my mic muted, he did not.

My Moves regularly went outside of tracking and my hands floated away, with my camera around head height (standing). I want to try it with the camera even higher but I haven't gotten around to it.

I see, I must've been matched with a pro somehow, because he spent his valuable time explaining every part of the controls and gameplay system, even went as far as to ask me to shake my head if I had never played before, which I obviously hadn't. I couldn't hear much of what he was saying due to the music volume though, sadly. It was a bit jarring not being able to tell if he was real or an AI haha, crazy! I couldn't really pay attention to his suggestions due to camera and tracking issues. Actually talking to people online with the mic in VR seems a bit scary too lol.

It's possible they have an AI for when there aren't two new players to pair up. I don't know what the player base is like now or how many people are signing up.

Yeah it could be that. It felt like a real player in some ways, movement for example, and the non-tutorial way he talked to me, but I couldn't be sure hehe. I did see one other player when I entered a beginner lobby, but I quit fairly quickly because I had the Skyrim urge :) Pretty cool to be able to talk via the mic though without having a regular headset though, it felt very surreal having a VR conversation/interaction.

Technically it saves every time you "achieve" (witness or touch) something, so the game keeps track of everything quite fine. But as Evane suggested, you need to keep track of everything, too - it is a game best done from start to finish without too long gaps.

Could be a pre-recorded developer tutorial. Especially if they recognize you have your mic disabled and/or couldn't do fast matchmaking.

Downward Spiral: Horus Station is on its last stretch and I thought I would raise some awareness of it here.

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/downward-spiral-horus-station-ps4/

There are a whole bunch of previews and articles I can link of people that have tried the game, as well as some Dev Diaries and a 17 min demo of the game running on PC.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you guys have on the game if interested.

Things to expect.
• Atmospheric and mysterious solo or two player online co-op zero-g sci-fi thriller
• A complete environmental storytelling experience without dialogue or cinematics
• Totally new way to experience movement in zero g

Finally a tennis game that doesn't support DS4 only.

Play with PSMove and Navigation control.
