Fucking hell, why do they do this?...
You know what's BULLSHIT? Region locked content for paid online services.

It's not bullshit. It's even worse. It's bullshit cooked with horse ****, peppered with goat droppings, shaves of cow ***, and placed with a side of the rotten ass**** of a skunk. /or something the Nerd would say in a rant. Did my "best" impression there while censoring out words to not be overly gross like the Nerd can be. hehe

That's awesome for James ,I love a lot of his content, and can't wait to watch this on prime. I'm a big fan of his knowledge on movies and he likes a lot of the movies I grew up watching, and I got to work on the avgn movie which was a big treat for me

Man, when the destroyed copy of TMNT 3 is bummed because James used to love it/watch it all the time it made me sad because I also became cynical and started trashing things I loved as a kid that didn't, in my cynical opinion, hold up. Also the sad music playing didn't help.

HD being locked to Prime is disappointing. I guess I'll wait.

And speaking of favorite AVGN episodes....

This one's gotta be my favourite

I laugh so hard at this every fucking time at 9:30

"What did the good doctor do to make everybody so upset? I can see the townspeople sitting at the local pub, talking about him all day. "Yeah, I see Jekyll, ya see him? Ya see him walking, he just keeps fucking walking! I don't like him. He's an asshole. He wears his underwear backwards. He has eyeballs for testicles!" "

Also at 12:21

"What makes him think the church is gonna be any better? Is the priest gonna throw candles at him? Is Jesus gonna climb off the fucking cross and start hitting him with it?"

Amazing.

That was a fantastic episode, the way james does skits in his videos isn't like any other reviewer. I hope he can fix the region restrictions so all of you guys can enjoy this this week.

I like this guy. He's just so relatable as a 90s kid. He obviously grew up with the same games and watched the same shows as I did so I get nostalgic.

Things like him talking about the excitement of buying a gaming magazine, renting a game on Friday, having to choose a game based on the box art etc.

Since people are dropping favorite AVGN episodes, I have include one of my favorites

I think he taps into his own anger, experience, and frustration of playing the game the best, just because I can imagine renting a game back in the day with no instruction manual and some of those games are already esoteric enough as it is, so running into a wall while playing could just be soul crushing. Especially since there are no saves, so you have to do it all in one go.

Only review I think that tops it is the Ghostbuster review just for being so thorough despite being a way more shallow game.

Amazon UK Prime seems to work outside UK for me, at least in the Nordic countries I can confirm my friends were able to watch it.
Great episode.

Fuck region locking man.

Anyway, I really like his hardware episodes: the 32X, Jaguar, Atari and Virtual Boy ones are amazing.

Good on him, he's genuinely the only angry personality I enjoy, as he puts efforts into making stories out of his videos and is actually all an act and is not just looking for a faux outrage or clickbait like many others. He's got legit funny stuff, so I'm happy for him. Sucks about the region thing though: I pay for Amazon Prime and was ready to check out his stuff there, but apparently I can't in my country for whatever reason :\

The Danger Zone
I havent really enjoyed a lot of post movie AVGN episodes (toxic avenger was so bad) but i always go back to his content. NES Accessories and Tiger Handhelds are some of his finest work.

Also laughing at people trying to stir shit over James, the original successful youtuber.

Finally got around to watching it myself. Wonderful episode. Interesting seeing James gush so much as the Nerd.

I should really beat Earthbound one of these days.

Important to note that this is seemingly region locked. They are only available for American and UK consumers. Meaning everyone else in the world has to wait to see the new episodes, even if you pay from Prime. Seems like VPNs will not work, as well.

Yay, they just raised the price in my country and they make sure to lock me out of stuff. Sounds great. ^^

Meh, not sure I'm gonna get Prime again when my sub expires, it sucks atm.

I adore James, I adore AVGN. I think there's a sincerity to his work that marks it out from other "angry" critics; ironically, because it's all an act. He understands the inherent ridiculousness of getting angry at videogames and plays up to it for laughs. He's creative, too; always has big ideas and works hard to realise them. He's made, what, 150 episodes now? And I'd argue he's never once betrayed that core charm that makes his show the very best. You know, I really didn't like the AVGN Movie, but it's incredible that he made it, isn't it?

That is really how I feel about James and AVGN. I really find his work inspiring and very enjoyable, even the things I do not lik e so much... I know he does it with sincerity.

Good to see him trying to make more money from the hard work he does. I absolutely love his work on AVGN, and even more than that, Board James. If you haven't taken the time to watch that series, please do. It's an absolute roller coaster.

This was great, but my absolute favorite is Swordquest. It's not even an angry episode but it's truly interesting (I've never heard of the games before) and I love stories from the cavemen era of videogames.

As a 2600 owner I can confirm that these games were so simple and primitive and yet felt so high tech and fascinating. It was like a glimpse into the future.

I'm ashamed to admit, I binged AVGN episodes a lot. Like putting it on the background of second screen when I want white noise.

Wow his Earthbound episode is 39 min. Look like other YTber like Classic Game Room also makes longer episode once Amazon picked him up. This is great.

Lame. Not available on Japanese Prime. However, the movie is on there. So if I ever want to torture myself with that again, then there we go.

Normally VPN works just fine.
I watch American Prime with a dedicated IP address on PC with my german prime account.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think either of those channels truly got "picked up by Amazon", instead they are likely using Amazon Video Direct to put their videos on the service. I don't think Amazon's actively trying to get YouTubers on Prime (because if they were trying to do that, wouldn't they try to push Twitch instead?)

Can't believe he referenced an email from the cinemassacre mailbag video's which as far as I know don't even exist anymore ( outside of backups people made )
Here it is if people haven't seen it before :

Earthbound has its serious moments, but it's a mostly lighthearted romp thats all about sillyness and wacky humor. Mother 3 in comparison is one of the most mature JRPG in existence. Both are great in their own ways.
I've always compared Mother 2 and 3 to Monty Python's Holy Grail and Life of Brian. Holy Grail is more wacky, out there and irreverent whereas Life of Brian still has all that, but with more structure and heart. But you're right: it comes down to personal preference, but both Mother 2 and Holy Grail remain my favorites.

Props to James on the Amazon deal. Hopefully he can focus more on the content he wants to create now.

Great episode. Felt like an in-depth movie review from James combined with an AVGN episode.
