Nah, they have such high base damage it still makes them on par with the other high end weapons with positive affinity.
Defense down is from his drool when he's exhausted.
Nah, negative affinity can be corrected if you have the right gems. The damage makes up for it imo though.
I don't remember what HR I am, maybe 9 I think. Currently farming Odogaron to get his Alpha armor, just missing a gem. Also took a Kulu headpiece for Weakness Exploit which is apparently really good at my point in the game. Otherwise I am 1 rank away from maxing the Jyuratotus Dual Blades too, think I just need Elder bones. And I have to fight Nergigante for the quest next.
Otherwise once I do that what should be the best use of my time? Should I be doing all the High Rank Optional Quests? All Events? Arena's? And when I want to Farm a particular monster I check Investigations? Thanks!

WE is indeed good. You can craft the Dragon King Eyepatch after Nergigante, which has WE and a slot, and is very good. I used that with the Odo armor for a while before making mixed sets. I finished the campaign with it. Events rotate, so only do the ones with the stuff you want to craft, or for meal vouchers, etc. Arenas give specific gear, but they limit you to a set of gear, which is interesting, but a different way to play.
It's not a bad idea to go back and do the optional quests because they unlock others sometimes.
Yea, for example for Odo, you'll have much better luck with his gem if you can find an investigation for him with silver and gold boxes. You get those by fighting him and picking up his tracks.
So farm for gear, do optional quests, and fight Nergigante when you are ready.
This upcoming update makes me sad. Kulve sounds like Xeno if it was balanced for multiplayer (like the arena), which seems like a nightmare for solo players.
We need more top-tier fights like Odogaron, Tobi, Legiana, and Nergigante. Considering how subpar Teostra and Kirin are, I'm not really looking forward to Oroshi and Luna either. Free is free, but I'd rather pay for good monsters than be given underwhelming ones.

My experience of Alatreon in Tri is that it was a shit fight (specially with a hammer).
Lots of people wanting to sleep bomb or GTFO and sleep bombing bores me.

Many of the monsters have changed so much for world Im not sure what to expect from any of the remaining monsters
Ok after some more details I'm updating my thoughts on it.
- The fight still looks like a total snoozefest, but at least it's not lao tier snoozefest.
- 2 weeks of uptime is a lot more than I expected, so I'm not as concerned with the limited time now.
- Relic weapons appear to have fixed stats instead of the completely random 4U system. That's a great thing to hear. I wonder how many new weapons there are per weapon type though. If that number is very high, I'm back to hating this again. Especially since the RNG has the potential to be even more punishing than 4U's system since you cannot target farm for a certain weapon class like you could in 4U guild quests.
- Why does capcom think that sniffing for tracks is an interesting or fun mechanic? Please drop this bullshit...
- Partbreaker actually becoming a key damage skill is pretty cool.

Yeah, but MH has yet to find a way to make endgame satisfying in the way that everything leading up to it is. Even with G Rank, we'll still end up fighting variations of a bunch of bad elders once we plow through the excellent lower tier fights again. Of the endgame fights, only Nergigante is genuinely stellar. The rest are either mediocre (Vaal, Teo, Jho, Kush) or terrible (Xeno).
The Tempered system needs to be overhauled so that there's more of a reason to bother with T1 and T2 monsters, which make up the bulk of the game's excellent, great and good fights.
I heard with arekkz video that relic weapons can have different attack values being the same, but that probably means that there is a more controlled RNG with a range of attack value and a fixed element or something like that
That is my understanding as well, but they said on the English stream that there were versions for a lot (most?) of the different weapon variants for each weapon type (so one or more of the rathalos version, the pukei version, etc) because I think the weapons are supposed to be hybrids of Kulve with that monster's weapon. So I think it's definitely not going to be a small number.

So they made farming for streamstones easier just in time to introduce a new unfathomable grind. Cool?
As long as my current Diablos/Nerg/Jho setups are comperable, I won't lose my mind over not farming Kulve.
I got bored running those for crowns. I've still got so much to do on the game (I consider myself proficient with precisely two weapons at this point in time) I'm happy just to get it gradually - although I will favour keeping investigations for monsters that I still need crowns for.
Will they have a golden ticket event for golden week? They need to make up for the 2 weeks we lost.
Finally did the Mega Man event. Funny how you automatically assume small Odog won't hit as hard as a normal one. But of course he very much does.
I actually find him tougher than a full-size one using most weapons, because I've gotten in the habit of using things like the longsword roundslash to swing myself to the inside curve of his attacks and hit him en passant, and with the mini one I just end up sliding right into his attacks.
That was my experience, too, only with the hammer. Took me about 3 - 4 minutes to take down the small Odog and only 2 - 3 minutes for the big one. Its small size really screws with your positioning. I actually managed to miss a big bang combo on its face when it was down. Just shows how much you actually fight monsters on instinct after a while.
Nice!! I managed to get the Palico armour set and the longsword from a lucky Japanese SOS, would love to complete the set with the hunter armour, even though I already have all the crowns. Any idea what the quest will be called?
