I see promo's for the upcoming episodes all the time so I don't get complaints about lack of promotion other than TTG

As someone who generally leaves CN on as background noise, I see ads for the new episodes block, but it seems like TTG is the only show where they actually promote the individual episodes instead of just those generic ads. Also, the fact that they just shadowdropped 4 new episodes of Adventure Time this evening (apparently the last 4 episodes before the grand finale, at that) certainly doesn't look good for them...

Really LTTP, but I finished Young Justice during the weekend. Honestly, I did not watch it back in the day because I did not like the character designs (at the time) and because it was not part of the Batman Animated universe. Big mistake! It really is great show. It's top 5 WB/DC comics animation for me.

I think I get now why it is getting a third season this year. Really can't wait to see the new episodes. In the meantime, I will attempt to collect the 25 issues of the comic book. Unlike most series, the scripts wre done mostly by the writters of the show itself. Too bad the popularity of the show means that those comics are a bit expensive.

Decided to finally start watching Scooby Doo Mystery Inc.
Still at ep. 3 but I am quite enjoying it. I like the Shaggy and Velma relationship but Scooby needs to stop cock blocking :V
I really don't get why Shaggy doesn't just outright tell Scooby about the relationship; Scoob can take it and he'd be happy for him at least.

Also Fred being obsessed with traps is great.

For that matter are there any other Scooby shows that are worth watching?

Wow
Scooby is a jerk, and Fred continues to be hilarious: "I'm not a guy anymore!" Glad to see him get such characterization.

A fan artist, earthsong9405, has started a Kickstarter for an animated short film, URSA. It's already complete, and this money is just being raised for festival submission fees.
cd67e27d9f6541537d639c69b149ce03_original.gif

URSA is a short film showing the adventure of a baby bear trying to catch a fish for his sick mother. The film was inspired by the art style of Haida, and the fact that bears are my favorite animal!

This film is the result of one full year of work from start to finish, and despite all of the trials and complications I am very happy to say that it has reached the end of its production. That means the film is completely done!

So if it's done, why am I posting it here? Welp, that's because I'd love to showcase all of my team's hard work on this film through the use of film festivals, but the main challenge is the entry fees that come with film submission. This Kickstarter is entirely geared toward raising the funds for me to submit my film into as many film festivals as I can in hopes of extra exposure and to share all of the hard work that was put into it. And to show off the bears, because who doesn't love bears?

"Quick everyone, into that abandoned factory! We'll be safe among the dangerous machinery!"
Fred's secretly the best character in the show.
EDIT: YOOOOO
Scooby riding the Loader to take down Terminator Dog was awesome

Mystery Inc. continues to be awesome and the humor is great
"...and sometimes I have a chic-mustache."

"You lost your boyfriend to a dog?"

Can't believe I put off watching this for like 7 years :V Looking at Wikipedia, holy crap the release dates for Season 1 episodes are so far between. What the fuck happen to episode releases of cartoons this past decade?

Craig of the Creek will officially premiere on CN tomorrow w/ the first two episodes that have been available on the CN app for a while now. 3 more episodes will follow Saturday morning with reruns running all weekend long (sandwiching multiple episodes of Teen Titans Go! *cough*).

I haven't got around to watching it yet but the premise sounds similar to Clarence in execution... bit more slice-of-life than the show Matt Burnett and Ben Levin previously worked on as head writers, Steven Universe.

Gimme gimme gimme that Gravity Falls blu ray! I never finished the show and that's the perfect way to do it!~

Also I opened up Netflix tonight and it looks like 12 more episodes of Miraculous Ladybug has dropped for anyone interested. I think I'll watch an episode or two before I go to bed and see what I think.

Edit: First episode was pretty strong, second episode was a bit more typical. Seems like the budget increased as well which is nice.

Edit 2: Finished the season batch. Overall a very lovely season, there was some bit of world building and s2e9 might be my favorite episode of the entire show so far.

But the writers... they made the shipping square into a pentagon. Oh no.

The cameos/guests in Scooby Doo Mystery Inc are very well done & really show the team's love for HB's history.

I like that Justice League Action featured
E. Nygma/Riddler as a detective/PI. I always liked that from the 2000s comic
...but man Hamill's age is really showing in his performance as Joker in the show.

Aggressive reminder that Wakfu Season 3 will (finally) premiere worldwide on Netflix tomorrow with a shiny new English dub (the release will also come in many languages) done by a new recording studio.

Black Bump FR-EN dub comparison video

Unfortunately, while I was hoping that the English dub versions of the Dofus TV series and the movie (currently streamable on VRV) would premiere tomorrow as well, it seems only Wakfu S3 will be making the cut. So much for having all of Ankama's 'Krosmoz' animated content on one platform (Wakfu S1, S2 and OVAs are already there). In any case, please watch Season 3 when it premieres. Both Ankama and Netflix will be gauging interest, pulling big viewer numbers will make it that much easier to greenlight a Season 4.

I'm sure they would have announced it if they were. Probably too costly to redo 50+ episodes and specials.

Definately gonna watch it, cause I'd really like a season 4.

You gonna make an OT Psxphile?

How is Wakfu? I've heard next to nothing about the show.
It's fun. S1 & S2 have a lot of filler, which sucks but the actual main plotlines of those seasons are pretty good. S3 has next to no filler but is also half length, which was probably the right decision.

When they really get down to it, Ankama can animate really well, so the animation is amazing in parts.

Yeah, I'll have a thread ready when the show goes up late tonight (Netflix updates at midnight? EST?). Nothing too fancy, though.

EDIT: it is done

Anyone gonna watch Ballmasterz 9009? It's a new Adult Swim cartoon coming out tomorrow, but the first 2 episodes are already out on the site. Feels like OK KO but for adults, I thought it was pretty rad

Found this video on a whim today. The story around the production is kind of fascinating. This movie was just plain sent to die by Disney.

I remember little to nothing about Treasure Planet back then (now I know why), and actually never even saw it until I discovered it on Netflix one day last year.

Treasure Planet has fantastic visuals, but it is quite an odd movie IMO. I kinda like its fantastical setting somewhat though.

Just finished watching Season 3 finale of Star vs. Forces of Evil and now I really want someone to punch
Glossarick in the face.
This guy si the definition of Blue and Orange morality
I haven't watched, but from what I've seen of it, it's probably the most gorgeous Flash animated TV show out there.
Bruh
It's French Avatar the Last Airbender with DBZ style fights. Give it a watch asap.

Anyways, gonna finish up watching The Prisoner and Luther before getting back to watching any ye olde animated series I missed out on, though I need to catch up on Steven Universe and OK KO as well.

"The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle" is premiering next month on Amazon Prime.

The goofy animal friends created by animation legend Jay Ward are getting re-imagined yet again, this time in a new series premiering next month on Amazon Prime.

The new series has Tara Strong (The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans Go!) doing the voice of Rocket J. Squirrel, and Brad Norman (America's Most Haunted) as Bullwinkle J. Moose; it's being executive produced by Scott Fellows (The Fairly OddParents) and Tiffany Ward, daughter of original series creator Jay Ward. It starts May 11.

Dreamworks "The Prince of Egypt" is getting a remaster.

In addition, to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of DreamWorks' "The Prince of Egypt," Annecy will debut a fully remastered print of the epic film. The 1998 film won the Oscar for best original song for "When You Believe" and was the studio's first traditional animated film production. It told the story of Moses and went on to gross $218 million worldwide, making it the most successful non-Disney animated film up to that point.

What does a "remaster" entail exactly? I've never actually known that.

Is it essentially just exporting it again with a modern video codec and the like?
There are some very lazy/bad definitions or "remaster" floating around, like taking a 90's standard-definition source, blurring it to smooth out the jaggies, sharpening it to try to hide the evidence of the blur, boosting the color and contrast, crudely cropping it to widescreen, and then putting it on a Bluray and calling it a "remaster" (gag).

But for a proper remaster, particularly of an animated movie, back in the day they animated the cels and backgrounds by hand and one-by one they took a series of photographs of them, using a film camera. After editing the film and adding audio and whatnot, they made copies of the finished film (essentially taking pictures of the pictures that they took, of the art that one of them drew with paint and paintbrush) which they sent out to theaters, and TV stations, and one of those film copies was eventually used to produce the VHS/DVD.

For a proper remaster, they try to go back to the best quality film they can find (the one that's the least "copy of a copy"), maybe clean it up a little, and with modern equipment they can look at the film and see a clearer picture in it than they ever thought possible using older equipment. Then they scan the film digitally at 1080p (or better yet, 4K, if they're being a little bit forward-thinking about not having to do this again) and now they have an uncompressed digital HD video (their new "master" copy) that they can apply some codecs to in order to put it on Bluray, or some streaming service, or email it to a TV station, or whatever.

Basically, it's a remaster when they go back find the earliest film footage possible, and make the cleanest copy they can, from the original source, now that technology has improved and we can recognize and appreciate the difference between the original and a copy of a copy.

Steven Sugar has moved on from Steven Universe and will now be providing backgrounds for Disney Channel's The Owl House:

This announcement made me check who else will be working on the show, seems a few people outed themselves recently:

Stu Livingstone (storyboard artist, has done boards and directed on various show including SU, Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie, Craig of the Creek, Futurama, etc.)
Aleth Romanillos (unknown, formerly character designer on Steven Universe and boarded for it and Star Vs.)
Marina Gardner (character designer, previously of Titmouse in L.A. and worked on Motorcity I think)
Charlie Bryant (storyboard artist, unknown what else he's worked on)

More info about cast and crew can be found here.

Wait, Steven Sugar is leaving work on Steven Universe? That feels weirder than it should; it's a show that's almost literally about him! Looking forward to learn more about Owl House, though.

Just subscribed to this thread. Big fan of classic Cartoon Network stuff. Ed, Edd n Eddy, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo are all fantastic. I also enjoy what WB was doing with Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. I admittedly haven't been much into the newer stuff, but maybe this thread will inspire me to check out some.

I am watching How to train your dragon 2, and the kids have grown up to their 20s?! I mean if you'd told me they were in their late teens I'd have believed you. Still the dragons all look quite good and much of the animations are pretty impressive.

Also why does Hiccup look like that Lucas kid from the Knack games?

One more thing...why are the parents speaking in British accents and the younger generations speaking American accents?

Greg Cipes and Tara Strong have come out as anti-vax. Since both appear in a ton of cartoons, this is a pretty big deal.
