Okay, so I just started playing the MP and am getting absolutely murdered with the initial weapons I have at my disposal as opposed to everyone else. Any suggestions for gun I should be using early on?

The PP SMG, STG AR. You get those early and at level 50 those are still my personal go to guns.

What is people's k/d in this game? I'm at around 1 right now. I used to be 2.0+ in all the other CODs.

Thing that's killing me about this game is the occasional crazy enemy spawn, I'm literally afraid to move when I'm close to getting a streak sometimes because I have no idea where the enemy will spawn.

AR - M1941 (first assault rifle, full auto)
SMG - PPSH

As to basic training, espionage is very strong.

I'm at 0.7 ish, used to be in the 1.5 range back in the days (haven't touched any CoD since AW).

However, the game is slowly growing on me. Can't speak for all the modes and maps, but it's fair IMO
Once you learn the maps/objectives, K/D performance gets better.

Battlefield 1 is way better get that. If you don't enjoy the large scale maps and just want small maps and instant satisfaction get this. For $30 BF1 revolution is a good value since you'll be getting all current and future dlc as well.

Battlefield 1s tdm maps are perfect tbh, they're not to big and they're great for pickup and play gaming. I think bf1 is still incredible thru and thru

Once I pop these MP trophies I am so forgetting this and the franchise again until next gen.

On that note, what do ya'll suppose the quickest game-type is to rank up?

The single player really is as bland as Gerstmann said it was. I was really hoping they'd lean into what they do for the epilogue a lot more, considering the marketing seemed to suggest it would, and instead the majority of the game is just boring war cliches. Oh well.

I'm more surprised people still don't get how killcams work.

Pretty sure killcams are just a technical hack job. It would be too much data to send to each and every client, so your local machine just grabs the route taken by your killer, shows it from that rough POV and then an approximation of their gun firing on you. You dont get the exact crosshair placement that they used, it's more to show you where they were and how they shot you...not the exact aiming they did.

edit - you get a rough version of their aim but nothing really accurate, I remember a Half Life 1 mod I used back in the day modded a killcam into the Half Life 1 (essentially Quake 1) engine which amazed people, and they guy who did it expained how it all worked..im pretty sure the same principal applies, in that the majority of the work is done locally. You just cant have a p2p game sending 11 other people super accurate killcams every few seconds. Pardon the long post.

Yep, despite my previous moan about smoke on killcams and the WTF moment, as far as shots etc go people should pay no attention to killcams.

I was at a 2 in Ghosts and a 2.2 in BO3.

In this I hover around 1.3. I definitely agree with you that the maps and enemy placement is incredibly hard to read.

exactly, its just done by faking a flying head height camera into the local clients information on where that player travelled from, drops a gun model on it and that's your killcam. The crosshair movement is just extrapolated from where that player was looking, there's no accuracy beyond that.

The way the loot boxes are implemented are a kick in the teeth...

I've always been an advocate of cosmetic micro-transactions because I figured, if this software is indeed more expensive to produce these days than they were, say, twenty years ago (and let's be honest - how would they not be?), that those who wished to consolidate their hobby around one piece of software (as opposed to people like me who run through them once before discarding them) could be free to do so. People told me that it was a slippery slope. Well, perhaps I was wrong - not in my passiveness towards cosmetic micro-transactions but in my naivety to believe it would stop at cosmetic micro-transactions.

This game is essentially a vehicle through which to sell you micro-transactions. The idea that players are rewarded for watching others open loot boxes is the most utterly egregious and disingenuous corporate BS I've ever come across - it's so disgusting it beggars belief.

I was all prepared to be outraged by the loot boxes in this, but im not at all. You get them regularly for free (I seem to be getting a random one every few matches), and the contents are so innofensively average that I don't desire them at all. They're just part of the breadcrumb trail of levelling, really.

Maybe it's a mistake and they were meant to be super desirable, having me frothing at my wallet waiting to buy them, but theyre absolutely not. I mean once they start putting exclusive game changing guns in them, like the SGM/AR hybrids, or maybe some experimental nazi shotgun that fires hitler balls, but until then they're fine.

So how does it compare to BF1 in Multiplayer? More so regarding weapon variety, TTK etc - the more things you can directly compare.

I don't think it even holds a candle to bf1 multiplayer, I mean just all around. But that aside I don't think they're remotely the same type of shooter to even compare so with that merit I'd say it's to hard to really compare then as the games are so different feeling it almost feels like comparing Battlefield to crucible or something, just different ends of the spectrum despite both simply being shooters

This game has some good stuff, decent weapons, fun unlocks etc... But Battlefield is just on another level imho. Better graphics and animations, better game flow and match flows, great modes that are truly in the heat of battle etc...

The ttk is what hurts the series in general as confrontations are just over so quick that it feels very gamey and cartoony, and it's simply who sees who first. And Battlefield 1 you have standoffs that feel like a true battle with guys on each end because they can take a hit or two and back out and take cover. Just adds a greater sense of battle as opposed to guys just falling over in a blink

Imho bf1 is a 9 and this game would be a 7 to 7.5 If I had to rate them.

The cod series tho the more I play the more I realize it's just a different ball of wax compared to Battlefield

I've been accused of hacking/aimbotting literally 10 times in the last 2 days and probably been reported by a number of them as well. I hope Sledgehammer doesn't ban on hearsay. People are insanely salty if you beat them 1 vs 1 in HQ.

Thanks for the detailed response. Believe it or not it, most BF games I normally wind up playing and enjoying DM the most. You are right though, they really do play differently despite the similarities.

Also, I've heard shotguns are really bad in WW2... please say it isn't true!

I played TDM about 2 hours last night. Yes there were some moments of anger but I finally realized, if you just put aside giving a damn about K/D ratios (which is hard to do, I admit), you can have fun. Die a lot in a match? Oh well. Be happy when you do well and when you don't, just move on.

I asked myself, when's the last time I investigated what someone else's K/D ratio was? Just about never. Certainly not in years. So that means no one's looking at mine, or caring about mine.

After only playing TDM for 2 hours, the best thing I can say about this game after having it for one night is, I'm not sorry I bought it. Which I take as a victory.

I opened this yesterday, installed it, launched it.... I can only play this in italian or spanish because of stupid region language lock. Back to the store it goes. Stupid practice. Stupid me for not researching, but alas, I thought is was not an issue anymore. Oh well.

The singleplayer campaign is the only reason I'm interested in this, I just can't see myself spending 69,90€ on maybe 6hrs worth of content.
Sort of offtopic: But I would love to see a modern-day Brothers In Arms game, with destructible environments and such. Actually, I just might replay Hell's Highway.

Was dominating on a game of War, just as we were about to win the second consecutive round all the players got kicked out of the match since the host left, with a countdown starting for the next game with no progress carried over.. what the shit.

I was at 1.67 in this and now down to 1,40's area trying different weapons and all. matches have been really sweaty for me due to the fact everyone figured out the nonsense already. I mentioned this yesterday but I ran into whole teams rocking espionage. Is not fun at all.

I hate when you get on and on your first game you can tell it's going to be one of those sessions were nothing goes your way, lol.

Also, has anyone had any problems prestiging here? On Reddit people are saying don't do it cause it bugs your HQ or something so I'm indecisive to go ahead and do it.

The multiplayer is probably the best in the franchise in years when it works fully, and zombies from what I've played is really impressive and a good take on it. The campaign on the other hand in my eyes is an extreme let down, and more interested in bombastic stuff happening in every mission than actual good storytelling and interesting characters.

It's not so much a video game as it is an interactive movie per se. It's literally terrified to give you any remote sense of independence or control over the experience preferring instead to lead you by the hand through countless quick-time events and "go there, shoot that, follow me" to the final conclusion - the same as pretty much every recent Call of Duty. But you know what you're getting with this franchise - it's essentially the posterboy for the casual audience. I mean, videogames don't get more casual than Call of Duty. Your dad is as much a part of their target audience as you are.

1.15 or so. Pretty awful but at least it's positive.

No one can see your stats right?

Ok I think it finally clicked for me last night after a couple of adjustments. I had my usual -19-3, 15-3, 21-7 games, instead of the 13-13, 14-12 games I was having before.

- One thing to take away from this game is that if you were a rusher before, you can't play like that unless it's the first 10 seconds of game.
-Play not to get kills but play to stay alive, that means less sprinting and rushing and wait for people to come to you, doesn't mean you need to camp, but let them rush to you.
- Aim down sites almost all the time or when going around the corners.,
because this game has a weird lag, delay, packet loss, hit detection issues, it seems the only way to kill people is being more prepared than them, and sometimes you will still lose gun battles even tho you shot them first.
- Use the ordinance perk since it's so hard to rack up kills and get scored freaks, this lets you continue the scorestreak even if you die. This adds 1-4 kills overall to each game.
- Use a suppressor.
- Try and stay close to your teammates, as you will rack up kills from them running around in the open and getting shot at.
- Try to use a headset, as the game usually calls out enemy positions for you.
- Find the choke points in the game, usually this is always in the middle of the map where everyone wishes to hold, go there and try to hold it yourself.
- As a previous high sensitivity kind of guy, I have returned to default as there is so much sway and movement in this game that higher sensitivity wasn't needed.

I'm level 41 and i've been playing with the first weapon you get in the Infantry division, no problema and i have been getting 2.0 k/d consistently once i learned the maps and choke points.

I am usually in the mid 2.0's, but I haven't really played CoD since Black Ops 1.

But for this game, I'm at a 1.4 I think.

I've become more objective focused over the years. K/D does nothing to satisfy me.

It's not on the same level as BF1 multiplayer. It's enjoyable to some extent but it almost makes me feel like playing BF1 again lol

I do think the sound design is top notch though. The explosions, guns firing and voice acting all gave for an immersive experience.

I am actually in love with the back to basics multiplayer in this game. Unfortunately there are some issues with everything around it. The social lobby needs to be optional as I don't want to have an extra load to get to the multiplayer. I am not a huge fan of the main lobby screen either. It looks cool but it's not so easy to use. The menu elements at the bottom are not easily separated.

It also feels kind of glitchy right now and it seems like they turned off the social lobby servers. I think if you strip a lot of the baggage away you end up with a great COD multiplayer experience. One of my favourites in years.

I have no interest in single player but might force myself to play. Seeing Normandy makes me want to avoid it. I have played that one too many times.

It seriously blows my mind how extremely unbalanced the BAR is. It's so overpowered that I seriously doubt Sledgehammer tested the thing in the slightest.
