Also yeah uh...you should probably be a bit more concerned over the port itself than the Vita costumes lol, especially when enjoying one relies so much on the other even working well to begin with. To each their own though, though I feel like if they were going to show up they'd already be available considering the DLC already present. But hey, they could probably still have plans for it.
For me, it's more about that I hope that they might fix every fault, I mean they only had 7 months extra to do it. It's that on top of the issues that exist, full price so long after is a kick to the nuts. I've bought it now to show support in hopes that they will fix it, but who knows.

I'm also hearing the PC port is locked to 8-way movement

what the hell
Somehow, I actually thought about it but disregarded it for Falcom being a kinda small dev. Turns out NISA is behind it. Mild shock!

Wait... you are upset over shitty bonus costumes? I'd be more upset over a garbage port over something that doesn't mean anything
Looking for a fight? I can handle you tough guy.

If you are interested in the game and have a PS4, just buy that version. It sucks they've buggered the PC version but the game is absolutely worth playing.

Holy shit I just booted the game up (got it for free as a Beta Tester... what a joke that was) and yep, 8-way movement. Game is also refusing any and all input via Steam in-home streaming while everything else is working perfectly. My old Steam Controller bindings were completely messed up for whatever reason as well. Couldn't take more than 3 minutes of jank before I turned it off so I have no idea how crashy it is. I guess the framerate seemed better than during beta release? That's not saying much considering how bad it was.

I would buy it for PS4 (considered it several times already) but at this point I honestly don't think these people deserve any of my money in any way, shape or form. What a complete embarrassment, especially after getting used to the xseed releases on Steam.

NISA did such a good job with Danganronpa V3.

Damn shame this port sucks. I'll either get it for cheap on PS4 at some point or not at all. Don't have faith in the Switch version.

Mostly Negative reviews now. What a shitshow this game's had to go through. Just get it on PS4 and save yourself the trouble. Don't support NISA's crap.

How is the game on PS4? What's the localization like? Falcom most be absolutely furious that NISA ruined their streak of well-received PC games.

I mean, that's still supporting NISA, just on another platform...unless you mean import Falcom's original PS4 release, which is a great idea. They deserve support for making such a great game, whereas NISA needs to feel the consequences of screwing up with both localizations and broken promises to the game's audience. I'm also hesitant about recommending the Switch version since, performance aside, I have no desire to give NISA any incentive to pursue more Falcom games if this indicates how they'll get treated. (NISA also has a shoddy track record with consistently fixing these issues for later releases.)

I hope this means NISA never gets its hand on a Falcon game ever again. Specially a Kiseki one.
What a joke of a company.

YsVIII didn't deserve this. It's one of the best entries in the saga :(

My Xbox One S controller doesn't get automatically detected. I have to manually configure it and the triggers don't work. Also, I get generic button prompts as if I was using an old DirectInput controller. What a mess...

...Yeah, if Falcom gives NISA CS3 after all this I'm done as a Falcom fan, because they'll be giving me the impression they just don't care.

I seem to recall the Xbox One controller issue occuring in a few other Japanese titles (I want to say Koei Tecmo games).

*looks at the best sellers lists*

Yeah, no good...

I should beat TitS:SC and get Cold Steel to support the company that actually cares.

It's when companies use Direct Input from DX8 instead of Xinput any modern game should be using. Xinput was released in 2005, no major updates to direct input has been made since 2002. There's no excuse for this shit show NISA.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed the game day 1 on PS4. Translations can be very stiff, but it can also be hilarious at times.

This game is great y'all. Either get it on PS4 now, wait for patch or the Switch version and hope that it works fine.

Well, over an hour in and I hit the crashing issues. Seems to be doing it all the time during dialogue. Happened when trying to pick up a quest, and then during a later dialogue sequence.... Unplayable with that happening.

RPS did a quick piece

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/04/16/ys-viiis-troubled-pc-port-staggers-into-the-limelight/

They say good things come to those who wait, but perhaps the release of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana could have gone back into the oven a little bit longer. The six-month-delayed PC port (first to completely re-translate the game, then to deal with a rising tide of technical issues) has finally made it to launch, though after looking at the first wave of public response, it doesn't sound like publisher NIS America have done Falcom's latest action-RPG much justice.

While I've sadly not been able to get my hands on a PC review copy of the game (and with every word written here, I am less likely to ever see one), but reports so far from some folks I trust report that the game is in a pretty grim state, with threadbare visual options and internal resolution locked, meaning that no matter how high or low your settings, it's just up-or-downscaling the same image either way.

It's all a bit sad, really. The Ys series has been consistently good fun for a great many years, and the previous few PC releases (handled by XSeed, as opposed to NIS America in this case) have been very polished, for the most part. It's a game that I still hope to play sometime in the next few months, although unless more fixes are forthcoming, it'll be on another platform.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is available for £45/$60 via GOG and Steam, although the console versions might be a safer bet at this point.

My hope is that the vita version goes on sale soon. I want to support Falcom but at a rate that shows my disdain for all of the outsourcing that has led us to this point.

Downunder.
In my opinion, it isn't constructive to suggest that this regrettable situation can be easily remedied by either purchasing the PS4 version and/or waiting for the Switch version. There are plenty of Falcom fans (including myself) who prefers to play Falcom games on PC and would not rather reward NISA in any way, even if they will eventually show a promise to give a decent post-launch support.

The time to give NISA the benefit of the doubt has since long past and any attempt to support any of their future releases should be approached cautiously since they haven't shown any slightest improvement in their project management. I would go so far as to say that they aren't going to change in the future unless there is a change in leadership or their company's culture.

At this point, the definitive version of the game remains the original Japanese PS4 version released by Falcom themselves and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

It's getting the Tokyo Xanadu treatment, and deservedly so. Let it sink to the bottom where it belongs.

Putting the localisation issues aside, the PC version of Tokyo Xanadu eX+ is otherwise a competent port. Even though the graphical options are virtually non-existent, it was not marred by technical issues from day one. Its gameplay may not immediately be appealing to longtime fans of Ys, but it still has that distinct Falcom gameplay loop we've all known to love. In short, TX eX+ deserves more recognition than this sorry excuse of a hack job NISA has put out.

I knew NIS America would continue to fuck this completely up, damnit. I won't be buying this anytime soon (just got so much to play) but I hope either the PC version is sorted out properly in the coming months or I'll buy the PS4 version secondhand.

It's silky smooth on a Pro, but there's a fair sum of framerate drops on the regular PS4. Nothing terrible, seems to happen most in Castaway Village (thankfully there's no action there)

Yup. If you don't want this shit to keep happening then don't support the release at all, not just the PC version.
